Whitney, Janet, TLC, Destiny's Child, Beyonce, Alicia, Rihanna, Ciara, Lauryn Hill, Missy and Nicki have all had huge hits on Pop so that's more than one hand.
How many black women are even played on Urban radio these days besides Beyonce, Rihanna and sometimes Nicki? Can't think of any.
There's definitely a problem but Beyonce is hardly affected by it, she's a pretty light skinned woman who has it easy compared to all the other black women struggling to be played on Urban let alone Pop. She had no problem being played before the 4 era when she released commercial songs so y'all have got to stop making her into this underappreciated victim when she's still one of the biggest stars out regardless.

I wonder, if someone had ridiculed a Beyonce video the same way those Beyonce fans are ridiculing stills from a video they haven't seen, wouldn't everyone and their mother be up in arms crying racism and whatnot? Seriously, somehow Taylor Swift is now a neo-Nazi Trump supporter with some people because of a 20 second teaser that shows like 5 separate stills from a music video no one has seen yet.
How is that video similar to Formation? Has Beyonce copyrighted a female singer standing in the middle of dancers wearing black? The entire notion is ridiculous.
What is even more ridiculous is those articles - from reputable publications mind you such as Vice - that are painting Taylor Swift as a neo-Nazi icon, mostly on the grounds that she hasn't told everyone who she voted for in November's elections. I mean, I didn't know every celebrity needs to come out and endorse Hillary Clinton for them not to be labeled a racist anymore. This level of degradation in the discourse is borderline childish.
This song will debut at #1. That alone will make it a hit. Do I want single #2 from the album to be in the same vein? I don't think so and I think even Taylor won't want that. If anything, this song could have been the one people expect out of her to address the whole Kimye bullshit and move on from it.

I'm screaming at you going back to the 90's to pull those examples out of your ass. Not Lauryn Hill and TLC. LMFAO! Throw in Spice Girls for good measure. They had Mel B! But before I stop reading after that reach into the past, let me let you know I was speaking about present day or at least the last 5 years. Try again, boo! And if you're seriously asking about Urban, maybe this week was the wrong time to hit your flimsy point home. SZA, Rihanna, Nicki & Cardi are all top 5 right now. All women of color. Again, try again!

Beyonce doesn't need hits. She's on a level above all her peers.
Now stop discussing her on this thread.

I don't see what the big deal is. Pop radio got bored of Beyoncé, so she turned to Urban. It happens. Beyoncé didn't turn to Urban. She IS Urban.

Again, try again! You didn't specify you were talking about the last 5 years and my examples are still relevant as it proved that black women can get pop hits when their songs are commercial. You're clearly just acting dumb with the Spice Girls example, yeah listing a group with 4/5 white women makes complete sense. Every song in the Top 5 except Cardi include MEN (3 as lead, one as a feature), let's not act as if Urban radio isn't extremely sexist and this isn't a rare occurrence. Women other than Beyonce and Rihanna have been struggling to get played for years and you know it's true so let's just not. It's very rare for a black woman not named Beyonce, Rihanna or Nicki to score a solo hit on Urban. But keep acting like Beyonce, a pretty light skinned woman who meets eurocentric beauty standards is SO discriminated against despite racking up Pop hits easily from 2003-2009 LMFAO. Go outside, there are real race problems in the world right now. - Anyway, back to Taylor. Look What You Made Me Do iTunes: #1 United States #1 United Kingdom #1 Australia #1 Austria #1 Belgium #1 Brazil #1 Canada #1 Denmark #1 France #1 Germany #1 India #1 Indonesia #1 Ireland #1 Italy #1 Mexico #1 Netherlands #1 New Zealand #1 Norway #1 South Africa #1 Spain #1 Thailand #1 Turkey #3 Japan #3 Russia #4 Switzerland This is doing much better than SIO was at this point globally, the 1989 era really made her into a global superstar.

Since we're still talking about Beyonce and struggling pop radio careers: 3 basic rules in order to have a successful pop radio success:
1. Make catchy song 2. Keep up with the times (Spotify, etc.) 3. Don't be very pretentious

Can we focus on Taylor in this thread?
Pulse can't handle a nuanced discussion, and this discussion certainly isn't one that should be taking place in Taylor's single thread.

(It still counts even if the corporation is a massive waste of money and no one uses it). I wouldn't mind the entire album being full of this type of songs, just get a stronger chorus. It's the only reason I don't love this one. The writing is very similar to the one found on most 1989 songs, the video will probably be great (and what are those posts of her "becoming" a visual artist "now"? Didn't you guys see "Shake It Off", "Blank Space", "Bad Blood", "Wildest Dreams" or even the relatively boring but cute "Style"? She's been releasing great videos since her last album) and her voice is the same as always.

I guess Taylor's fans are proof that Beyoncé is more interesting to talk about than TS. I forgot which artist's thread I was in for a whole page.

If Katy Perry had a massively hyped release and you didn't immediately like it, wouldn't you keep trying to like it for a few days? Don't say you wouldn't, you're Spree, of course you would, you got thrown out of a Katy concert. This just isn't an abnormal scenario, and people need to stop treating it like it is. I'm sure there were plenty of Gaga stans that repeatedly tried Perfect Illusion until it either stuck or they gave up.

I'm so confused about what's being argued in this Taylor threads, as if Taylor fans are any different than any other pop star's fans yet her stans and other's stans are bashing each other over something they very likely already do? I must have missed something...

Uh taylor has been a white nationalist icon for years. Thats not new VICE published an interesting article on it last year. The headline: Just because the alt-right Neo-Nazi crowd embrace Taylor as an Aryan symbol doesn't mean she herself recognizes herself as an alt-right Neo-Nazi. Not her fault crazy people believe she's a goddess of the white people.
