Just because the alt-right Neo-Nazi crowd embrace Taylor as an Aryan symbol doesn't mean she herself recognizes herself as an alt-right Neo-Nazi. Not her fault crazy people believe she's a goddess of the white people. Never said it was? ETA: HOWEVER, VICE reached out to TS's team for a comment and didn't get one. Is it that difficult to make a statement disavowing white supremacy? Silence is complicity. Guess she didn't want to give up the $ from that portion of her base. #45vibes

This is the most overdramatic thread I have read in a long time. Nazis, race, and cultural appropriation are brought up because of an avant-garde pop song.
Not to be rude, but some of you need to step away from the keyboard and get some sunshine. You act like your "fave" is your best friend and you need to fight to the death for them. What is it with people on this people having emotional breakdowns over women in pop music?
This is pop music, for better or worse; it isn't that complicated. These stupid fan wars don't make a modicum of sense. Beyonce is successful and Taylor is successful.

2nd biggest day ever in the US behind HUMBLE.'s 4,060,034 plays at its peak.
3rd biggest day ever globally behind Despacito's 8,505,463 plays and Shape Of You's 9,878,194 at their peaks.

That is pretty impressive for her but it's also pretty sad for female artists in general that nothing has approached that level since Hello.

That is pretty impressive for her but it's also pretty sad for female artists in general that nothing has approached that level since Hello. It's because Taylor Swift and Adele are the 2 biggest female pop stars on the planet.

There's only been a handful of songs by female artists to get over 1 million daily plays on Spotify in the US.

Only a few Kendrick songs got more spotify streams in one day than this. She can easily get at least 60m streams total if the video is released soon

Hello Work Work From Home Needed Me I Don't Wanna Live Forever It Ain't Me Malibu Bad Liar Fetish Look What You Made Me Do And half of them include men. Meanwhile, Drake has done it with 29 songs.

Can't wait to see the video. Somehow I actually think there will be cameos from the people she has had public feuds with.

These stupid fan wars don't make a modicum of sense. Beyonce is successful and Taylor is successful. Sorry, but sometimes it isn't that simple. Music can convey a lot more than melody + lyrics, especially when you're talking about music that's actually meant to be a statement (Lemonade, in that case). To say that only because BeyoncΓ© doesn't have a Top 40 hit means she's irrelevant or can be considered "alternative" just proves that whoever's saying this has no idea what her goal is. It shows some alienation even, thinking that only because her music is not aimed at them, it's not relevant to anyone. I'm not even a BeyoncΓ© stan, but I can recognize what she did and give her the credit she deserves. That being said, I'm also done with the "my fav is better than yours" bs.

Just decided to listen to it, and I'm not impressed. This is maybe a C+ at best. This style doesn't fit her.

I don't think this a very drastic change in style, if one at all. It's still very very pop. An impeccably produced Halloween pop song.

One chick assumes someone likes Kanye because her twitter profile shows a black girl, others randomly bring in beyonce into a conversation regarding Taylor. Like WTF. Just because taylor supports Donald f**king trump and his boxed shaped body doesnt mean we get to act like his supporters. Have some class and manners.
I'm making a new rule. Stick to Taylor only and discuss her lyrics which is all some of you are capable of talking about. Shut up about QWEEN Beyonce . None of yall are qualified to discuss her. The pop threads are always a mess!
And Duca stick to Justin Timberfake, since i believe you started the whole Beyonce bashing!
I hate you pulse.
everything isnt a stan war, just be good little people and talk about what you like about taylor and her achievements and her song and stay silent beyond that. I dont want to hear anything about anything else. finished. Last warning! I'm the new LIBRA eeeeerks brakes on that shit! yall have been served.

The only thing that stood out to me--in the worst way--was the spoken part about the old Taylor. Sounded like something straight out of a Britney song. I'm surprised everyone hates the second verse because that "Maybe I got mine/But you'll all get yours , too" is the best part of the song for me.

Predicted to open with 550k and possibly more. TAYLOR'S FIRST "LOOK"
Taylor Swiftβs βLook What You Made Me Doβ (Big Machine) had an explosive first day in the marketplace, earning huge streams and setting the stage for a first week in the range of 550k in sales alone, an impressive feat in the streaming era. Could the track surpass this projection?
Tay-Tayβs biggest first week with a single was in 2012, when βWe Are Never Ever Getting Back Togetherβ scored 623k downloads. The lead single from 1989, βShake It Off,β bowed with 544k two years later.
The lyric video for "Look" also got a big look, earning 19m YouTube views in 24 hours, a record for lyric videos, breaking the record held by The Chainsmokers f/Coldplay for "Something Just Like This." (As of this writing it's hit almost 26m.) Rather unsurprisingly, it quickly became the #1 trending clip on the video service. It's also Tay's biggest video bow, blowing by the 17m initial views for "Bad Blood."
Stay tuned for more numbers.Insane numbers.

Is it that difficult to make a statement disavowing white supremacy? Silence is complicity. Guess she didn't want to give up the $ from that portion of her base. #45vibes I agree and disagree with allow that regarding team Taylor's response to this. Yes, it would be easy to dennounce the Alt Right, and it would be nice to see a public figure who has (for better or worse), been "branded" by them to come out and disavow trash like this. Considering the shape America is in right now, it would be a breath of fresh air to see someone unexpected come out and make a strong, unifying statement. On the other hand, Taylor has always been an extremely shrewd businesswoman, and she stays far away from social, economic, or political issues, to avoid damaging her brand or fanbase in any way. In some sense, I can't really fault her for operating in the same way that she always has, even if I think she could have taken this opportunity and done something positive with it. I also think Taylor/her team is in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation, regardless of what she says or does. If she had sent a statement to "Vice," it doesn't seem that unlikely that the same people who view her as their "savior" would take any little part of said statement and twist in some sick way to suit their agenda. If she said anything denouncing them, they'd hunt her down and mercilessly attack her. If she stayed neutral, some of these people would take it as a "win" for their side, and they would continue to see her as a symbol to their movement, even though she's never been anything but neutral. Sometimes when you're playing with fire it is best to ignore such things because there could be other repercussions that deal with more than just image and money. Taylor is hit-or-miss with me, but I think people need to lay off her when it comes to not speaking out against "X Y and Z," and assuming she is a Trump supporter just because she ignores this. Anyone who is expecting Taylor to turn into a social justice warrior instead of staying in her lane hasn't been paying attention for the last decade. The general public hears Taylor Swift and goes out in droves to buy her Pop music. For better or worse, a large portion of the population views music as a form of escapism, and 99% of those people don't give a s**t if Taylor speaks out against certain issues. She is a Pop star, and that is exactly what people want from her. I don't see anything wrong (or controversial), with her simply continuing to be a non-controversial Pop star who knows how to stay out of the fray. There are more celebrities that stay out of politics than ones that don't, so I don't see a reason to single Taylor out for doing the same. Anyone expecting someone as smart (and simplistic) as Taylor to become mixed up in politics or worldly issues because Donald Trump and Neo Nazi's are a thing and using her name hasn't been paying attention.

Poor Katy just can't win anything, even messiest thread on Pulse. There's still 4 months left, don't count her out yet :kii: I think as messy as the Katy threads were, I think this thread is much messier, it's hard to top. We've gone from acting like total Taylor stans over this, talking about how she's (allegedly) a Trump supporter, to trashing Beyonce, and getting her stans all riled up. And this thread is only 27 pages in and the official music video hasn't even been released yet. Hell, all this drama has also seeped into the Random Thoughts thread as well. But who knows, let's see what happens when the music video comes out, or if any drama seeps into Swish Swish.
