I think radio and possibly YouTube could keep LWYMMD propped up at #1 for at least 2-4 weeks, and Despacito is already bleeding airplay, it's getting outsold now by Logic's Suicide Hotline Prevention, and it's streaming is losing steam fast. Chances of Despacito getting to #1 for a 17th week seem unlikely. I'd say a good 25% chance of it returning to #1, but it seems unlikely at this point.

It's outstreaming, and outselling Despacito pretty big right now, so it could very much get the #1 on sales and streaming for one week next week I can tell you that.

With the mixed reviews this song got I didn't expect it to be THIS big. I thought it'd be big just because of Taylor but I didn't think it'd be breaking multiple records.

So second week will be around 100-120k. Despacito has a decent chance to return for a 17th week. No it doesn't. Radio for Swift will be higher than Despacito in 2 weeks and she'll still have a ton of streams while still selling 100k. |

It got 1335 spins on it's second day, 1207 on it's third, and 1204 on it's fourth. That's what I meant by it's updates are getting smaller every day. At this rate, this will have it's first week and immediately fall, which I do NOT want to happen. As long as this peaks at #6 or 7, I'll be happy, but ideally this would be #1 in it's third week. But top 5 will probably never happen. Hell, at this rate this will spend only one day or two in the top 10 before it's eighth day, and will never recover. Is there hope? |

What are you talking about? 1204 spins on a 4th day is incredible.Most hit songs consider +200 a good day but +1200 is insane. |

It's likely to fall most of the second week and stabilise before gaining a lot in its 3rd week. That happened to Gaga IIRC. Not surprising given its massive updates. It's not really a negative thing given how huge it is right out of the gate.

Most big songs like this have a run like this in their first few days: +1500 +300 +200 +250 +450 +600 +800 Taylor is experiencing exactly that just in a grander scale. One of the reasons for that, I think, is actually because of the slightly low-key way it's constructed and doesn't have a proper climax but instead descends into the chorus. It leaves you wanting just a bit more so you just play it again. It also helps that the first verse is terrific. |
