So excited for this album, Wild Ones was a bit of a letdown from his debut, but he still just brings something different to the genre and I like his sound. "The Bull" is a jam for me... Going to listen to this over the weekend!

This is definitely more of a rock album than country, but I love it. Some total gems on here.
Guitar Man is the best thing he's ever recorded. Wow.
My rankings:
1. Guitar Man 2. Bittersweet Company 3. Try Again 4. Last Shot 5. Plead The Fifth 6. Sunburn 7. The Bull 8. Just Another Girl 9. Blonde 10. Fast Women 11. Good Thing 12. I've Been Around 13. More Girls Like You

They should decide between Bittersweet Company, Last Shot, Good Thing, The Bull, Plead the Fifth for the singles. I think they'd all be successful. The Bull seems to be getting a really strong reaction so far, though personally I'd go Bittersweet Company and Good Thing as the next two.

Gosh, "Plead the Fifth" is one cool lyric. As a whole, I feel this album was weaker than the last one. I really like Kip's songwriting, I would prefer a touch more of the production that was on his debut than the more Rock leaning one we have now, because he has some lyrics that paint beautiful pictures.
I figure we get "The Bull", "Blonde", "Last Shot", and "Plead the Fifth" as singles. They feel the most radio friendly on my first couple listens.

I'm really enjoying this album. It's not as good as his debut album (but that's one of my all-time favorite albums), but I find myself liking it more than Wild Ones. For me, Wild Ones had two exceptional tracks ("Girl Of The Summer" and "That Was Us") but a lot of the other songs were so-so to me and didn't leave as much of an impression, whereas his debut album literally only had one skippable track for me ("Somethin' Bout A Truck"). I don't hear that many songs that are skippable on Slowheart. My favorite is definitely "Bittersweet Company", but I also really enjoy "Plead The Fifth", "Just Another Girl", "I've Been Around", "Sunburn", "Blonde", and "Good Thing".
The high points of this album aren't quite as strong as the best couple of songs on Wild Ones and Up All Night, but overall this album is very consistent. It's just really solid and I enjoy it more than his last. It's definitely more of a rock album but Kip does this style so well. He's an incredible songwriter and interpreter. The only thing that this album is missing is a bit of that haunting steel guitar that he mixed in with a lot of the songs on Up All Night and a few of the songs on Wild Ones.
I don't think we'll get more than 3 singles (his last album only produced two, but of course we got "Young Love" and "Dirt Road" before it and they simply weren't included on the album), so my hope is that "Bittersweet Company" will be single #2, and then I'd go with either "Good Thing" or "Blonde" as the 3rd single. "I've Been Around" is a quirky, funny song that's already grown on me a lot and I could see that one working as a single as well. "Sunburn" is another option. "Plead The Fifth" is one of my favorite tracks but I can see that one being somewhat of a polarizing song if it were to be released as a radio single.

Anything on how the album is projected to sell? I would say they'd shoot for around 30 K first week right?

"Plead The Fifth" is one of my favorite tracks but I can see that one being somewhat of a polarizing song if it were to be released as a radio single. I agree with a lot of this! It's hard for me to rank Kip's albums as they are all some of my favourites. I think Up All Night and Wild Ones definitely had higher highs than Slowheart, but I find this latest release to be his most consistent (or maybe AS consistent as his debut... I'm not sure yet). I loved "Everything But You" and "Crazy One More Time" from the first album, and "Girl of the Summer" and "Lipstick" are my most played from his second album... I don't think there is anything quite as good on the new album, although "Bittersweet Company" and "Plead the Fifth" come close. I also think there are more radio-friendly songs on Slowheart than Wild Ones, so I hope that helps Kip's chances! I have had this new album on repeat all week, and am still loving it. Early favourites include the two songs I mentioned above, along with "Sunburn", "Try Again", "I've Been Around", and "Just Another Girl". It's still crazy to me how this guy has become one of my favourite artists so quickly, and he rarely records anything that I can't get into. I hope this era is good to him!

Anything on how the album is projected to sell? I would say they'd shoot for around 30 K first week right? This is what HITS is forecasting: *Thomas Rhett (Valory/BMLG) 110-120k SPS, 93-98k Sales *Dustin Lynch (Broken Bow) 31-35k, 27-30k *Kip Moore (MCA Nashville) 29-32k, 24-27k I think that's a pretty good number for Kip, especially when you compare it to Dustin. In the time since "Hey Pretty Girl" peaked, Kip lost a lot of momentum at radio, whereas Dustin has gotten exponentially more popular at radio in that same time frame, and "Small Town Boy" will be a 3-week #1 and easily go Gold and Platinum before all is said and done...it's definitely up there with "Where It's At" and "Cowboys And Angels" as the biggest hits of Dustin's career. Kip, on the other hand, didn't have the momentum that Dustin did, since Wild Ones wasn't that successful of an era for Kip (commercially or at radio, especially compared to his debut album). And now, even with "More Girls Like You" getting Kip back into the top 10 and potentially to #1 again, the single still hasn't sold that well, certainly not as well as "Small Town Boy". So it's really encouraging that Kip's album sales are expected to be just a tick below Dustin's.

Not a bad number considering MGLY is his first hit in like 4 years.
