This went everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Welp, I hope the GP likes it enough to make the song repeak.

The video is fine. Was I hoping it would be something more exciting? Yes. Was it bad? No.

The visuals were kind of cool but I don't think it has that much replay value. I still like the video though.

I zoned out in the middle of the video. Bummer.
They really should have waited to release the song at the time of the video to create more excitement. It would make the "91" hint of Joe Alwyn's birthday more of a talking point. Now it's just obvious.

Rapping Taylor does nothing for me. The song has such a great chorus, but the verses ruin it overall.

It was a decent video with great visuals but I don't understand the storyline or if there even was one?

I guess the sense is that old Taylor won in battle with a new one?

How is this a response to her detractors (like Kahn suggested)?

First watch: Ehh? What?? Underwhelming. Boring.
Second watch: REALLY cool. I think that Tumblr post about the evil fake Taylor being destroyed by the real Taylor hidden behind a media cage who breaks free helped.

Nice video from Taylor with great visuals. Basically the "Style" music video of this era as that video didn't have much of a plot also. The GP will be confused when they watch this music video but the fans will understand enough of it.

The video felt empty.
Big Budget! Expensive! BAM!
But it just didn't connect for me.
Taylor is coming off really try hard and cringey for me now. She seems so self aware that it's starting to annoy me in the way GaGa did years ago.

It looks good but I didn't get it. Was it a homage to Star Wars or Game of Thrones?

So we're getting a movie out of this right?
Cause between this and Bad Blood there's potential for a full feature there.

Pardon the double post. It looks good but I didn't get it. Was it a homage to Star Wars or Game of Thrones? Ghost in the Shell was the main influence with the transforming Taylor (I'm going to safely assume the anime version). Otherwise the warden Taylor looked like she could be any anime character in a similar setting AS Ghost in the Shell.

As others said, it looked really cool but I am not sure what was really going on. Weβre the creature things the public and throughout the video Taylor was becoming stronger to defend herself against them? Was it the old Taylor versus the new Taylor? I hope this is a visual album, I think it will make more sense then

This what I said on another board:
I don't get it. She killed a version of herself? Did she just kill LWYMMD Taylor? I dunno what to think about this. The Taylor that started the video ended up being a robot it seemed in the final minute. I'm feeling like she's trying to make a stand for something and it has to do with her reputation, but I'm so confused. The only thing I got was that the Taylor she was looking at in the "box" was her dream and that her dream over took the robotic Taylor. That's the only thing I can make sense from the video based on the lyrics

The video FX are cool but there's really not much to it outside of that. Tbh, I still hate this song, it sounds ten years dated and the video did nothing to make me like it even a little bit more lol. I really think that she lost her spark that made her a star in the first place. Like, the 1989 era ended almost two years ago, and yet, I still feel like we heard and saw way too much of her on her "off time" and I could honestly go another five years with no Taylor Swift album if this is really the best she has to offer now.

I know the old Taylor is dead, but she's turning into an Aryan Kim Kardashian and we really don't need that. There are much bigger problems in the world.

I liked the visuals. I disliked the fact that there was no plot and that 2/3 of the video were shot in the same room. Tbh, I enjoyed it (mostly because I love watching her lol) and I'll play it for a while but it won't have the longevity of LWYMMD.
PS: The only scene I kinda disliked was the one in the white horse. I see that there's a meaning behind it but it felt out of place and flat.

I have never seen Taylor look more beautiful.
She has incredible screen presence and has movie star charisma.
EDIT : Based on this MV alone, she plays a more convincing and appealing superheroine than any of the mainstream actresses I've seen thus far.
I would bet good money that Taylor has some juicy superhero/villain role in a major feature film lined up in her near future.

I think Taylor is making a play for the heterosexual teenage/college male demographic here.
Comic book hyperrealism--check
Amazonian Super woman with unrealistic stature and curves --check
Sci-fi meets cyberpunk concept -- check
Plus she just looks GOOD. The epitome of a geek's fantasy woman.
Reputation may be Taylor broadening her base beyond the teen/college female listener......
