Assuming your 14 is what I think it is, I'm gonna be really pissed if it loses because you ranked it that low We're considering 14 low now? Even 14 is higher than I think I should have put it. I say low very reletively

1. surprised "lizstomania" went as far as it did, thought it would have missed the top ten lmao
2. I like both songs in the top 2 but personally pulling for "1901" as expected as it would be

I'm cool with this final two.
I prefer my #2 to win, but I'll be okay if my #6 wins.

I do regret ranking my 3 this high though. If I could tank it I would, with no hard feelings.

Yay? I'll take Savior over the rest of the top 5 but I was really pulling for a more interesting winner tbh. Oh well.

I still find it odd how pretty much the biggest hit on Alt history never reached #1 - or even #2

Okay, so it wasn't that close. To be fair, 50ish isn't a tiny margin for #1. The #1 has won by over 100 points multiple times, and even over 200 once iirc (though that was a pop rankdown, it had a similar amount of people).

"Savior" will probably be #1, and I would not be surprised if I finished in the lower half of its rankings. It's never been one of my favorite RA songs. Haha, I was 100% right from the very start.

sigh, not the winner I wanted, oh well
some have complained about songs being overplayed & tanking them as a result...but if you think about it, that's not the songs fault, it's more your fault for listening to stations that have small, tight rotations
Thanks for hosting Daryl - great job as always!

To be fair, that describes most stations. That's why I like 92.3 KRock in NYC, and it's a shame that it's HD Radio only. They play enough old songs that the new ones you hear like once or twice a day.
Sober - Tool Walk On Water - 30 Seconds To Mars Straight Lines - Silverchair Centuries - Fall Out Boy Passive - A Perfect Circle I Will Not Bow - Breaking Benjamin Less Than - Nine Inch Nails I'll Stick Around - Foo Fighters Electric Feel - MGMT Violet - Hole Ain't No Rest For The Wicked - Cage The Elephant Wicked Garden - Stone Temple Pilots I Will Wait - Mumford & Sons One Foot - WALK THE MOON Firestarter - The Prodigy Lovesong - The Cure I Only Lie When I Love You - ROYAL BLOOD Lit Up - Buckcherry Lights Out - Royal Blood New Slang - The Shins Talking To Myself - Linkin Park Ready To Go - Republica The Man - The Killers Uma Thurman - Fall Out Boy Clint Eastwood - Gorillaz Dig Down - Muse The Widow - The Mars Volta Lay It On Me - Vance Joy These Days - Foo Fighters Basket Case - Green Day
I copy-pasted their last songs played according to their website. Out of the 32 that show up, 8 of them are currents. Some embarrassing choices like Uma Thurman and Centuries, but overall this is a good balance of 90s Alt, 00s Alt and 10s Alt.
Compare that to one of the iHeartRadio-owned stations, like 104.5 in Philadelphia, and...
American Idiot - Green Day Thunder - Imagine Dragons Sugar, We're Goin Down - Fall Out Boy Sober Up - AJR Day I Die - The National Feel It Still - Portugal. The Man Fake Happy - Paramore Paralyzer - Finger Eleven Smooth Criminal - Alien Ant Farm Give It Away - Red Hot Chili Peppers Steady, As She Goes - The Raconteurs Whole Wide World (Unpeeled) - Cage the Elephant Can't Get It Out - Brand New Starlight - Muse Helena (So Long & Goodnight) - My Chemical Romance First Date - blink-182 Hey Man, Nice Shot (Remastered Version) - Filter Believer - Imagine Dragons Send Me On My Way - Rusted Root Sober Up - AJR Riptide - Vance Joy Howlin' For You - The Black Keys I Will Possess Your Heart - Death Cab for Cutie Love Song - The Cure Santeria - Sublime Angela - The Lumineers I Write Sins Not Tragedies - Panic! At the Disco Trippin' On A Hole In A Paper Heart - Stone Temple Pilots Inside Out - Eve 6 All Apologies - Nirvana American Idiot - Green Day It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine) - R.E.M.
10/32 are currents, which is less than I thought, and they get props for playing Brand New and The National, but... AJR twice? And some of the most overplayed recurrents in Alt history. This is the difference between iHeartRadio stations and non-iHeart stations. The songs from 92.3 just feel more varied.

Holy crap, I almost always get last on the closeness to the year end rankings, and I got it this time by a full two points. Guess overplay subconsciously affects me more then I thought?

10. Stylo - Gorillaz f/ Mos Def & Bobby Womack Music was good, but it stays in the same beat all the way thru. Those kind of songs don't age well with me. Plus the second set of vocals didn't suit the song at all.
9. Gold Guns Girls - Metric Great to see some female acts get some top 10 action too. "Ship To Wreck" also finished off at #9 on one of these rankdowns.
8. The Royal We - Silversun Pickups This band doesn't do much for me unless their MVs feature hot models. J/K, bit seriously, they sound like Smashing Pumpkins lite. I guess this is one of their better songs, tho?
7. Resistance - Muse Like I mentioned before; I kind of fucked up this song's placement. I must have set it aside and forgot to move it up before submitting my list. I should have been in my top 20 songs. sorry.I do think it's better than the last three.
6. Your Decision - Alice in Chains This is another good AIC song where the vocals really work well.. Not sure it belongs in the top 10, but still decent.
5. Sweet Disposition - The Temper Trap I don't know who this band is, but I liked the 80's vibe of the song, so I put it in my top 40 songs.
4. Lisztomania - Phoenix This is alright. I really like his vocals and the jumpy rhythm, so I put it higher, but I surely prefer songs like "Ti Amo" and "J-BOY" a million times more. I feel "Trojans" was inspired by this Indie rock style.
3. Uprising - Muse I love this jam beyond words. It combines the bass, Guitars and synths perfectly. It might seem a bit simple in melody, but damn it works. My favorite part is that guitar kick after every verse. Most of its high rankers were not exactly Rocksters either. I got one more top 10 song left, and I'm pretty sure it's going to be #1.
2. Phoenix - 1901 Another great song. I think Atlas Genius did this Indie Rock style better back then. The chorus of this song is my highlight. It's funny, because this is where I'll probably slot "Ti Amo" when we do the 2017 Alternative rankdown?
1. Savior - Rise Against Great #1 song. 100% deserving. So much adrenaline in the vocals and melodies. This is also my favorite ,Rise Against, song ever.
