It makes me feel a little low steel guitar on the radio

I was hoping that any other song that made it to top 5 would win but even me ranking Wild Angels low didn't help so I guess the right song won this rankdown. I like Cry on the Shoulder of the Road a lot. I like it more and more each time I listen to it. I was surprised when I saw that this one peaked on #26 because it such a perfect country song with great melody, instrumentation and vocal performance so it would deserve better both on charts and in this rankdown. From what I have heard, "Cry On The Shoulder Of The Road" was off to a great start (I think Martina said the fastest start ever up to that point in her career), and was really acting like it would be a big hit, and then Jim Brickman released "Valentine" to AC radio and it cannibalized all the interest in Martina's current single, thereby ending "Cry On The Shoulder"'s chart run prematurely. Oh that makes more sense now. It also makes me a little sad that Cry On The Shoulder didn't live up to it's full potential because it's a great song and I like it a little more than I like Valentine.

The top two are such a strong couple of singles! Wild Angels is such a great song. I recall reading in the notes on her Greatest Hits album that My Baby Loves Me was just a few spins away from hitting #1, so Wild Angels was almost her second #1! Safe in the Arms of Love has always been a favorite of mine and it was easily my #1. Such a fun video to go along with it as well!

Okay, that seemed like the fastest reveal ever. But, I enjoyed seeing the results. I've been busy, so it was nice to get caught up quickly. I think it was probably a given that "Wild Angels" would be the number one spot. It's interesting nonetheless to see how everyone feels about each song. I just don't see the love for "Cry On The Shoulder Of The Road." Then again, that's just me.

I just took a break from this because I was busy with George Strait followed by 2017 Country, but I am actually planning to open the next Martina album within the next week or two Edit: So thanks for bumping this!!! Waking Up Laughing
I have been feeling lately like it is time to start our next Martina album So here we go! This is the album that y'all voted to do next, back when we finished the Wild Angels rankdown! For our next rankdown, we take a jump into the later years of Martina's career. Waking Up Laughing is her 9th studio album, released on April 3, 2007. The album saw middle-of-the-road success for her. It spawned one of the biggest hits of her career, "Anyway", which was also the first song she helped co-write. It generated two more singles that have since been more-or-less forgotten. "How I Feel" which squeaked out a top 15 peak and "For These Times" which bowed out at #35. The album has been certified Gold for its sales strength though. Personally I feel like the wrong single choices were made, because this album is still incredible! There are quite a few songs here that should have been huge hits, and would have been able to capitalize on "Anyway"'s wild success much more thoroughly than the real followups did. She had a ton of hype coming into this project, because it was her return to radio after her Timeless covers album adventure, and "Anyway" gave people everything they wanted, so there is no excuse for the success from this era to have petered out the way it did. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as (or even more than) I do! The songs:
1. If I Had Your Name2. Cry Cry ('Til The Sun Shines)3. Tryin' To Find A Reason4. For These Times5. Anyway6. How I Feel7. I'll Still Be Me8. Beautiful Again9. Everybody Does10. House Of A Thousand Dreams11. Love Land12. Blue Bayou (iTunes Pre-Release Bonus Track) Don't worry about a Google Form this time. Just go ahead and submit your lists to my inbox Ranks will be due by Thursday March 1st!!! Great album! I completely agree with you about the single choices...."For These Times"?? Really?? The right singles could have made this a big success for her, following "Anyway".

I still remember the first time I was listening to this album and it was because of a listening party that was put online a few days before the album came out and I was in college and had to kick out my roommates friends out of our dorm room so I could hear it in peace because they were criticizing everything about it (he was not a Country music fan). I was so mad at the time because they were talking over the music. Thankfully my roommate at the time is one of my friends and he understand why I was annoyed.
You will have my rankings tonight! I love this album and while I definitely think there are a couple low points on the album, dislike one song more than "Happy Girl", it is still an incredible album!

I haven't been on much lately, but I'll do this one. Only a couple songs on here I'm not super familiar with, but I'll take a day or two and get familiar with them and send my list in!

Thanks for the invite, but unfortunately I'm not well verse enough in Martina McBride to participate in this one. I'll keep an eye out for future ones though!

I literally begged bboat to open a new Martina RD and I still haven't even listened to a single song on the album lol
Gonna give the album 2 listens and I'm PMing you tomorrow.
Edit: Just played the album for the first time. I'm pleasantly surprised! Many cute songs. I have an easy top 3 and bottom 3 but I'm gonna play it one more time.

Sent. This was actually a very solid album; and my bottom two or three aren't really that bad. I just found the melodies and such awkward.

Decent album! My top 2 is SO above the rest of the songs for me. And I knew they would be great from their intros. Can't wait.
