I don't remember anything about that, but I would have loved for that to happen!!

If there had been a 3rd single, I feel like it would have been "We'll Pick Up Where We Left Off". After "Just Around The Corner" peaked, that one seemed to be starting to be hyped up a bit. She started performing it more, talking about it more, and the label created a special ad for it telling people to buy it or stream it. They even put out a music video for it (that was only the first half of the song though, like wtf) and everything! But then it just never got released.

Bowing out at #3, we say goodbye to the second single from the album! This song bounced around in the bottom of the rankdown for a couple lists...until it suddenly jumped into the top 3 and never looked back This song was even a #1 contender for a couple submissions! It held onto #2 for a few lists, but seemed to be destined to finish at #3.

At the end of the submission process this was actually tied for the #2 spot, but fell down at the last minute because of Kanenrá:ke's incredibly late list! Three people put this at #1, and nobody put it in last, which helped this to have one of the smallest SDs of the rankdown!

"That's The Thing About Love" should not be Top 2 here. Love the song but no where close to the top of this album. I think this is the first time I've actually been disappointed in the results of a Martina rankdown. Just hoping "Reckless" rightfully wins here

Alright folks, it's time for the top 2!!!!! "Reckless" versus "That's The Thing About Love"!

Either way, TTTAL becomes the latest album track to make it into the future sequels to the "Best of the Best" or "Revenge of the Best" rankdowns, which is super awesome!!! Quite a few album tracks seem to be sneaking into those series lately (Martina's "'Til I Can Make It On My Own" and "I'll Be There", Jo Dee's "Just Drive" and "Think About Us", George's "Take Me To Texas", Carrie's "Wine After Whiskey", Sugarland's "Fly Away", and Carly's "If My Name Was Whiskey" all being recent examples)

Gurl please, you were complaining about pretty much the entirety of the Timeless rankdown Besides, "That's The Thing About Love" is just such an immediately accessible melody I don't see how anybody could not love it!

"That's the Thing About Love" is great, that one was a missed single opportunity.

Both songs in the top 2 are wonderful, I wouldn't mind seeing either of them as I went back and forth which one to rank at #1. "Reckless" is probably going to win though.

Both of these in the top 2 were the most consistent #1 contenders for the rankdown. Back when "Reckless" was struggling at the beginning, "That's The Thing About Love" racked up a lot of time at #1. In fact, TTTAL was the only song of the entire rankdown to spend the entire submission period in the top 5! Ultimately it couldn't hang on once "Reckless" caught back up, but it was still a very solid bet for the top 2. It almost finished at #3, because it would have lost the tie to "Just Around The Corner" going off of the number of #1 votes, but thankfully Kanenrá:ke 's list pushed it back ahead for good!

"Reckless" was by far one of the most polarizing songs of this rankdown, but overall the hate seemed to be front loaded. It fell as low as #9 when both of its last-place votes came in at the beginning of the submission process, but from there it steadily climbed. By the time we reached the midpoint of the submissions, it had clenched a vice grip on that #1 spot, and was never in any danger of losing it. Despite the multiple last place ranks, this song also had SEVEN #1 votes, and ultimately the love for this one was able to win out!

Thank you to everybody who participated! While this rankdown might not have gone everybody's way (which is to be expected, since practically every song had first AND last place votes... Lol) I hope you all were able to discover new music that you otherwise might not have given a chance (unless you already loved Martina, in which case it's always just nice to have you around ) This album series is almost done!!!! The Way That I Am



At long last, it is FINALLY time for Martina's wildly successful and widely acclaimed second album to get it's chance to shine! This album has been a long time coming. After ALMOST winning the vote basically every time I let you guys vote for the next album, I decided it is finally time to just hurry up and choose this one.

The Way That I Am is what officially kickstarted her career. After a lackluster debut era, the lead single and title track, "My Baby Loves Me" burst onto the scene and gave her her very first #2 hit (only missing #1 by like 17 spins or something crazy like that). "Life #9" became her second top 10 hit shortly thereafter. But it was with the third release, "Independence Day", that Martina truly cemented herself a place within the best country artists of all time. The song stalled out in the teens amid ferocious controversy about its depiction of domestic violence, but has been one of her most beloved songs ever since, and went on to become her career song despite missing the top 10. Followup hits "Heart Trouble" and "Where I Used To Have A Heart" only made minor dents on the chart, but after this album her career kicked into high gear and didn't slow down for over 20 years.

@walker9 I know you said you might participate in her next one, but just know that this might not be your cup of tea... It's a VERY good album, but this is definitely '90s country... Lol. You are absolutely still welcome to participate if you want to! But I would hate for you to participate in this one and then never give Martina another chance. I already listened to it on Apple Music It was pretty good!! Her voice is definitely aging, but she still sounded great. Imo the big band arrangements were a great touch! Imo, the album as a whole feels a little incomplete (probably because it is only 9 songs), but the jazzy tunes will be right at home mixed in with her other Christmas music on shuffle.

Edit: Now I'm just hoping and praying that Target will have a physical copy of the album when I rush out immediately after work to try to buy it tomorrow...

I agree based on what I heard of all these above sentiments, I was able to listen to the preview tracks on iTunes. I don't know exactly why that was available, but not the full tracks. I'm sure it is now though.

I legitimately was at Target tonight around 8ish (because errands) and stopped by the music section to see if it was possible that they already put it out. They didn't have it out, but it looked like there was a section cleared in the new music shelf, so I hope it is there tomorrow. We shall see...
