The highest charting song from a KPop group I think is Wonder Girls' Nobody at 76, so DNA would beat that

Their debut single, "I Want You Back," was a #1 hit. The Jackson 5 is a staple of Motown music too. When Michael went solo, it was a no brainer that he was going to be at least just as successful. As it turns out, he was immensely more successful! He actually released 5 albums before Thriller. Granted his third and fourth albums weren't that successful, but Off the Wall put him back on the map and Thriller then became a cultural phenomenon.

Don't forget that Bad, his 1987 release, landed him 5 #1s, a feat that would go unmatched for decades until Katy's 2010 success Teenage Dream did the same. (Unless you count the re-issue)

Today it would be possible only if JAY-Z's and Kanye's kids gathers and names the group "Watch The Throne 5". Michael's career is impressive..he scored #1 when he was a kid, 5 #1s from one album and also, posthumous top ten song almost 50 years after he scored his first #1. Thanks for this information.

snip (simmnfierzg's final prediction) Ah come on, Rake It Up? Seriously people? Whoa, he's predicting Too Good At Goodbyes to drop out of the Top 10 entirely?! Every other prediction I've seen has it predicted to remain in the Top 10. Yay Body Like A Back Road falling more I see both What Lovers Do and What About Us making gains, presumably because of radio. They might have more of a shot at the Year-End list now. No Promises, on the other hand, will probably just miss, which is disappointing. I'm really surprised that Ready For It keeps falling given it's still Top 10 on iTunes and gaining on radio. But as I said in the YE predictions, Reputation will add to the very first week of the 2018 chart year. With Perfect (Ed Sheeran) re-entering, sounds like it'll be a slow gainer and be a hit for next year. Could potentially end up scraping onto 2018's list but too early to tell.

01 One More Night - Maroon 5 (2nd of 9 weeks at #1) 02 11 Gangnam Style - PSY
One of the few times recently that Billboard was completely inaccurate. Gangnam Style should have been #1 for 10+ weeks.

Airplay was so tiny for PSY to beat Maroon 5 that time. I really wanted to hit #1 as well back then

In 1968 the Jackson 5 released a single called "Big Boy" on Steeltown Records went nowhere In 1969 their first Motown single was released, hitting #1 in early 1970. The next 3 singles also hit #1. The 2 after that followed hit #2

Pretty much every week it was in the top 20, it DOMINATED itunes(iirc) and YouTube. Easily would've topped 12 weeks imo

Michael's career is impressive..he scored #1 when he was a kid, 5 #1s from one album and also, posthumous top ten song almost 50 years after he scored his first #1. Thanks for this information. The Jackson 5's first four hits all reached number one (I Want You Back, ABC, The Love You Save, and I'll Be There, all in 1970), a record that stood for over 20 years until Mariah Carey's first FIVE hits all went to number one. Funnily enough, Mariah's sixth number one hit was a cover of...the Jackson 5's "I'll Be There". While the Jackson 5/Jacksons never reached number one again after those initial 4 hits, they continued to have gigantic top ten hits throughout the 70s like "Dancing Machine", "Enjoy Yourself", and "Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground)". The fact that Michael could render all their success a mere footnote to his solo career shows just how massive and legendary he was.

Michael Jackson on chart in 1972, and at #2 ? He was like 14. Didn't know that, nobody can deny his influence. Yeah, his early hits from that time are often overlooked or completely unknown. Well, his early solo work just hasn't had the same relevance over time as his stuff starting with Off the Wall. Of course, many of his hits with The Jackson 5 are still well-known. But, yeah, Michael had several top 10s in the 70s pre- Off the Wall (Got to Be There, Rockin' Robin, Ben). He definitely had a lull in the mid-to-late 70s, though. I'm someone who thinks if an artist sings lead for a group/band, their hits with them should be grouped with their solo work. To that end, Michael would add four #1s and more top 10s to his totals. His career was truly incredible. Don't forget that Bad, his 1987 release, landed him 5 #1s, a feat that would go unmatched for decades until Katy's 2010 success Teenage Dream did the same. (Unless you count the re-issue) I'm still puzzled as to why Bad didn't sell more. Not that it was a flop, but coming off the huge sales of Thriller and considering all of the #1s it contained, you'd think it would have sold at least half of what Thriller did.

It is all about record labels with the Michael Jackson stuff
Got To Be There, Ben, Rockin' Robin etc. was all Motown.
Off The Wall and later was Epic Records
So when deals are made to market hits packages to help make the songs "memorable" to the next generation, the label that has them plays a big part in that.
