Also what's the deal with the new BTS song, how is it so hyped up? Although I haven't listened to the song myself yet. They won smth at the Billboard event which made them much more recognizable in the US. Also, they had a pretty huge fanbase already. |

I am happy for Cardi, it's great to see another woman on top after such a long male domination. However, other than that and 1-800 still doing well, pretty terrible top ten this week. Especially sad to see Demi fall

Billboard is always doing some shady sh*t. Alright. Is it really shady though? While I'm not completely sure whether or not I actually agree with the different weighting, the reasoning behind it makes lots of sense to me. |

^Regardless of whether weighting streaming is valid or not, the question that comes to mind then is how much more would an on-demand stream be worth than one from the 'programmed' sources. I would hope that % is a significant number, not a token one.

Billboard's really pushing BTS and K-Pop. I think they must have a lot of fans on editorial, because even though BTS clearly has a fanbase in America they, and K-Pop in general, just aren't THAT big here. Certainly not compared to the amount of coverage BB has given them. They probably give them good page views on their site or their PR team is working with Billboard |

"Bodak Yellow" got so much promotion today. Everyone was talking about this on social media.
Sent the song right back into the Top 3 on iTunes.

At least one BTS fan was nice enough to shed some light on what the group is actually about in a comments section on one of their articles. |

So Taylor is #1 on itunes,#5 on airplay but doesn't get #1. I'm one of those people that feel that radio airplay should have more weight on the Billboard chart formula.So the #1 song is #36 on airplay and the #2 song isn't even in the top 50 airplay.Ok whatever. Taylor Swift isn't #5 on airplay. She's only #9. And Cardi is only four places behind her at #13 and is number one at two formats. Overall airplay is what counts towards the charts, not just the Pop chart. So basically what you're trying to say is only CHR/Pop airplay should count. Urban and Rhythmic radio should be taken out of the chart. And streaming, which is a huge platform for Urban/R&B music should be given a smaller cut of the pie so Pop artists can get an advantage? |

It does seem like it's very much of a smaller, niche market, but one that is steadily rising, and Billboard might be trying to be tastemakers and help to foment that rising. |
