Well, I was able to power through those fifteen songs today, wasn't I? Admittedly, I said that I would give you fifteen reveals today...though I didn't think that I'd be able to do it almost consecutively. Hey, that just means more reveals for you guys, right? (And fifteen reveals to see for those who weren't here for the entire update!) And no, I won't be posting the top ten tonight, as far as I know. I want to let these ten songs get the chance to breathe for a little while. And you guys. Fifteen reveals this quickly is a lot to take in, after all.
And speaking of the top ten songs...

solid Top 10, a few that I think are a bit overrated but completely understand why they made the cut. Hoping my #1 can pull it out but I'm guessing it's not all that likely.

I knew after seeing Madness out, pleasantly missing the top 10 I would take a hit. Only thing I want to see is Uprising out as soon as possible.

Oh, well, Red... that was kind of a lot for today!! Take your time, enjoy it :) :)
Btw, I read Green's post about Disco and me before going to sleep yesterday, so I didn't want to bother responding at that time, but I did believe the word choice was quite poor and antagonizing. I have to second what Disco said. Just as an FYI, I don't use preference revealers... I listen to every song in a RD at least twice so that I can rank them appropriately and then I listen to the entire list once more to make any final corrections, so at least you should trust that my rankings are done with a lot of thought behind. Otherwise, I don't participate. It's true that my Pop sensibilities will be reflected, just as your hard rock will be. But what it's precisely that difference what I like about these RDs :) It would be extremely boring if only Pop posters would participate in Pop RDs, and in cases like this RD, I'm actually looking forward to those cases where a Rock and a Pop poster have similar rankings.
By the way, out of the 40-11, my main surprises are: - Panic Station, Dead Inside: surprised at my being the worst ranker for these songs. I thought PS was just too MEH for Muse and it seemed more like a Maroon 5 song than a Muse song. Dead Inside had potential but just felt underwhelming. Both were first listens. - Neutron Star Collision: wow! I mean, I assumed that this could be seen as a bit pop, but being in the bottom 10 and lower than Panic? :o This one did hurt as it's a Muse favorite of mine since its release. I feel it has an epic sound, good overall instrumentation, voice, etc. Is it hated because it's from a movie or something? - Unintended: I had forgotten about this song, and when I heard it again I appreciated its quality as a unique attempt from Muse to a somber ballad, which did work for me. Another too early top 5 loss for me - Sunburn: I really liked the instrumentation in this one... piano, guitars, drums, etc., and voice. First listen, and got hooked. - Feeling Good: I have to say that I ranked this one at a high #14 because this was the first song I heard of them 15 years ago or so. When I first heard it I even didn't know that it was a cover, so it'll always have a special place as the song that made me pay attention to them :) - Invincible: I was ranking it lower initially, but it clicked with me on the third listen... it was a perfect storm of a special moment at work, life memories, reading the lyrics and connecting emotionally... another first-listen

Dead Inside just does not sound like their song. It does not help when its genre is synth-pop according to wiki. Panic Station is too Queen-ish (not a compliment especially when Brian May criticized Muse for copying them) Reapers is the only great song in Drones (album) (The Globalist is overhyped). The ending is so lit. I still don't know whether the notes close to end of Muscle Museum is guitar sound or Matt's vocals Undisclosed Desires is boring af. There is not any guitar riff and it's just a shaking hand song in concerts because Matt does not play guitar at all. The video game sampling in Bliss is cool. Quite bummed that my #1 ranking can't send Butterflies and Hurricanes to top 10. It's the first Muse song I heard thanks to Need For Speed soundtrack, and I become stan of this song and Sunburn after watching HAARP DVD. Matt's piano skills are underrated :( This should also be the Olympic song instead of Survival (yikes). Megalomania is underrated. The organ towards the end of song is just stunning. Perfect closing song on the stellar album! 1) Any surprises in the top ten? My #28 and #29, although one is a big hit so I am not that surprised many people rank it high. 2) Any songs that you're disappointed to see miss the top ten? As I mentioned above, Butterflies and Hurricanes. But really this is a strong top 10! 3) What's your #1 pick now that we know what's in the top ten? Knights of Cydonia because it won a rankdown before.

Once again in two parts. 25. InvincibleI'm not really a fan of mellow songs. Music overall. There are always exceptions. I guess this was one of the better ones because it builds up towards the end. That is why I ranked it a bit higher. *The next two rankings really pissed me off. Not just because the styles mimic two of the best 80's band ever, but because they are truly great Muse songs. > 24. Dead InsideWhen I first this I thought Duran Duran "Wild Boys". One of the best aspects of this song is the percussion. I have a strange fetish for songs ,that I think have ,great percussion and an absolute hate ,for those songs with crap percussion beats. I'm not surprised that the only member who ranked it higher than me is our future host for the Duran Duran rankdown. 23. Panic StationAnd this one would be INXS style. This is an amazing song on all levels, including the cool Music video. My favorite part is how he emphasizes each word at the end of each line in the verses. In fact the song is perfection from start to finish. Not one bad aspect. So I lose my #1 one. Big Fucking deal. usually my #1 song on these rankdowns, is no ones else's number one anyway. this is my favorite Muse song and nothing will ever change that, unless they create a song with Cars vibe. maybe? 22. Hyper MusicThis is one hell of a song. It starts off my biggest top 20 hits from the band. The song itself is nothing groundbreaking when it comes to harder Muse, but That intro with the screeching guitars, was really all I needed to make it top 20. 21. Feeling GoodThis one didn't do all that much for me, It's alright but nothing really memorable in the guitar department.

20. Apocalypse PleaseI didn't like this at all. Consider my low ranking payback if you ranked "Panic Station" in the bottom 10. 19. Sing For Absolution. This was one of those first time interesting listens. I reminded me a bit of Panic! At The Disco's, baroque pop in the intro. That dark gothy vibe really hit me hard. Great song. 18. SunburnThe vibe of this song gave me the impression it might be a popster favorite from the intro alone? I didn't care for the intro nor how those pianos tie in to the song. Sorry. 17. ResistanceI think I always underrank this song? The truth is, The Chorus and the pre chorus, is awesome, but I forget the rest almost as soon as it's over. 16. ReapersYou gotta be fucking kidding me? 8D This for me was the best song off "Clones" era. Even slightly better than Duran Duran part two. That guitar man. That's the entire song. Popsters. You guys got get some fierce guitar vibe in your life. (smiley sticking out tongue)15. Muscle MuseumI liked this one a lot when I first heard it, but once I heard their other older stuff, it slipped down the list a bit. I still consider this a cool guitar Muse song. 14. Undisclosed DesiresJust missed my top 10, but I do love the synthpop vibe of this song to death. This one would be, Muse channeling Depeche Mode and Moenia. They even dress like Moenia in the Mv. 13. BlissThis was a cool first listen. I knew it would end up one of my top 20 songs for the continuous synth chord playing during the song. 12. MadnessThis is a great song. I think the stuttering M-M-M- shit, really tuned me in even more? The percussion is more poppy than I really care for, but it fits perfectly with the synth and guitar chords. The best part of this song is, the build up towards the end. The parts where he starts holding the notes really high. I love that shit in music. 11. Butterflies and HurricanesThis songs did very little for me in melodic value. Something about it tuned me out. Not surprised I was it's lowest ranker. Consider this even more payback for "Panic Station" .

1) Any surprises in the top ten? "Newborn" slow and boring. and "Stockhold Syndrome". I have never liked that song. 2) Any songs that you're disappointed to see miss the top ten? Take a guess? 3) What's your #1 pick now that we know what's in the top ten? "Knights of Cydonia" better be.

I would have tanked that sucker too. LOL!

That's a great top 10! I'm glad that "Butterflies and Hurricanes" and "New Born" were able to do so well. Those were two of my favorites that I wasn't familiar with before doing this rankdown. I was hoping "Reapers" would get more respect, but oh well.

Hello, everyone. It's time to finish this. But first, I just want to post how we're going to do this entire update, seeing as we have FOUR more non-single/album track posts and not two. Maybe if the main ranking was a top 50, I would have been able to do this...or maybe if I had done the non-single/album track updates after every four reveals, it would have been close to perfect...but no matter, this is the mess that I've made, and I have to clean it up. Here's the layout for the top ten + final non-single updates:
- 10-9 - Non-single update - 8-7 - Non-single update - 6-5 - Final two non-single HMs - 4-3 - Top two non-singles - Top two singles
Going to be a little more work than I really wanted for this final update, but it has to be done, you know?
Alright, let's get to the first reveal of the top ten...#6. No, wait, sorry, it's #10. My mistake. I've already mentioned that #10 is tied with #11 and how it broke that tie. We lose just one bottom ten here (and it's pretty surprising to me just who that bottom ten is), but we also lose six top tens, including three top fives (including...sigh...my first) and yet another #1.

I mean, I’m surprised it made Top 10 in the first place (and the pop posters placed it relatively high! Whoa!) but wish it could have been higher

From here on, EVERY song has 500+ points. It's nothing but the biggest hitters from #9 on. #9 was decidedly not a top ten contender at first, but it just kept chugging along, chugging along, chugging along...and, close to the end, finally broke through into the top ten. Ultimately, it didn't quite go top five, but it actually got pretty close. We lose just one bottom ten with this reveal (still not clearing that person's bottom ten), while we lose ten top tens here (over half of the participants, in other words), including seven top fives and two #1s. Another fun fact about this song: Every person that did not rank this song in their top ten ranked it in the lower half of their ranking. Hello, fourth-highest standard deviation.

For the first of four times this update, it's time for a NON-SINGLE/ALBUM TRACK UPDATE!
HM #7: THE 2ND LAW: UNSUSTAINABLE alexcuse : 2
And now, the next top ten reveal.
#8 was not in the overall top ten for one ranking. It never seriously challenged for the top spot, but it always hovered in the 5-10 range, outside of, again, the one time it wasn't in the top ten. With this reveal, we lose another ten top tens, including seven top fives...but no top two rankings. This song's greatest asset was its consistency. We also lose one bottom ten, clearing that person's bottom ten...and boy, he is not going to be making too many friends with this one.

#7 was a late bloomer, getting into the top ten for the first time after the fifth ranking. This song would flirt with the top five before eventually settling into its actual position at the end of the ranking process. Ten people lose top tens here (boy, starting to sound like a broken record, eh?), including seven top fives (again, broken record!) and another #1. Meanwhile, just two people are down to their final bottom ten (Leo and Juanca), and one of them loses their final bottom ten here. (And, apparently, Lord lost his final bottom ten with "Uprising". Sorry, Lord!)

NON-SINGLE/ALBUM TRACK UPDATE!
And now, the next top ten reveal.
#6 is the first of five songs to not receive a single bottom ten ranking. Actually, the thing that surprises me the most is who the lowest ranker on this song was, considering his ranking so far. While there are no bottom ten losses, there's certainly a lot of top ten losses...twelve of them, in fact, including six top five rankings and a #1.

Up until late in the process, #5 was THE challenger to the top 3's long-term supremacy over the rest of the rankdown. In fact, it was #4 for around TEN rankings, and it only dropped down to #5 after one ranking, in particular, tanked it somewhat. This is the source of my favorite positive surprise in this rankdown, to be sure. Eleven people lose a top ten here, including five top fives and a #1 that one poster, in particular, has been surprised by how long it has lasted...until now. We also lose the final bottom ten of the entire rankdown.

Congrats, Leo, you (finally) become the last person to lose a bottom ten. Also, But really, . I'm so happy to see this perform as well as it did. We were this close to a top 6 with no bottom ten rankings, and the fact that MOTP and this would have been part of that is just wonderful.
