2 of the most popular soul divas from american idol who are often compared to each other for obvious reasons. Which soul diva has the best vocals?

Went with Jennifer Hudson simply because she ‘delivers’ (borrowing a line from ‘where you at’) both in the studio and live but with Fantasia her records are better live than in studio

I don't think it's a slam dunk because you could fault JHud's voice for lacking a bit of texture and diversity in delivery (she's either singing in soft head voice or belting the roof off the place), but ultimately her power, control, and tone are still enough to beat out Fantasia, who has a truly great voice in her own right--one that's more unique, nuanced, and emotive, but not always one I find totally pleasant to listen to.

I still prefer JHUD after all these years. No knock on Fantasia though; she can pull the emotion out (like with “I Believe,” “I’m Here,” etc.). Her speech impediment is annoying at times.

There is a warmth and uniqueness to Fantasia's voice that I prefer. I find Jhud shouts at me too much, mind you fanny has her moments there. End of the day both have very good voices and are well above the average. I just prefer the rasp and emotive tones of Fantasia.

I definitely enjoy Fantasia's voice and the uniqueness of it, but I'd give JHud the edge because I think she has the "better" voice overall. Both are great though.

Fantasia. She consistently shows more dynamics in her delivery. She displays more musicianship. She can emote, has great range, is agile and has creative runs. There's more textures to her voice.

Jennifer is great, but there is no comparison. Fantasia is a BEAST vocally, her musicality and emotive skills are incomparable.

I think there's a bit of a (white) elephant in the room here in that Jennifer's style and execution is much more palatable for Pop and AC audiences. The gospel, jazz and blues instincts and inflections of Fantasia just aren't compatible with a lot of the Walmart crowd's sensibilities. The yardsticks by which they're both measured are wildly different.
I do love them both, and Hudson's upper belting range? I'm a slut for.

I've come back to this poll about a dozen times and felt like I had the answer... and ended up deleting it to think about it some more. This is probably the hardest poll question I've ever seen. I seriously can't answer it. I love them both for very different reasons and they're both amazing singers in their own right.
Jennifer's power versus Fantasia's emotiveness. Fantasia is definitely the more interesting singer of the two. But Jennifer's voice is just beastly. NOPE, still can't decide.
