This might be the most underrated act of the decade and this thread is long overdue.
First of all, who is Broods?
Broods is a music duo based in New Zealand consisting of Georgia Nott as the lead vocalist and Caleb Nott as the producer. As one can probably already tell by their last names and the artist's name - they are siblings.
They released their debut EP 'Broods' on January 30, 2014 and it features the single 'Bridges' which peaked at No. 8 on the New Zealand charts. It's probably their most well-known song to date having peaked at No. 45 on the US Rock songs chart and No. 25 on the US Alternative songs chart. It also includes their second single 'Never Gonna Change' which managed o peak at No. 40 in New Zealand.
They've worked with Joel Little on the EP who is best-known for his work on Lorde's 'Pure Heroine'.
Broods is basically known as the next Lorde in New Zealandalthough they're better.
In June of 2014 they released the lead single to their debut album 'Evergreen' called 'Mother & Father'. The song peaked at No. 12 in New Zealand and No. 36 on the US Alternative songs chart.
The promotional single 'L.A.F.' failed to reach the charts but might be well-known amongst FIFA fans as it was released on the soundtrack for FIFA 15.
The second promotional single 'Four Walls' debuted at No. 18 in New Zealand.
The third promotional single 'Everytime' was released just a day before the album's release which happened on August 22, 2014.
The album was mostly produced by Joel Little again. It debuted at No. 1 on the NZ albums chart and No. 45 on the Billboard 200.
After they released their first album they had the oppurtunity to work with the likes of Troye Sivan, Lorde and Tove Lo.
They released 'Free', the lead single for their second studio album 'Conscious' on April 1, 2016. It peaked at No. 21 in New Zealand. It reached No. 26 and No. 47 on the US Alternative chart and US Rock chart, respectively.
As promotional singles they released the Lorde-written track 'Heartlines' and 'Couldn't Believe'.
The album came out on June 24, 2016, less than 2 years after their debut. It reached No. 1 on the NZ albums chart and stayed there for 4 weeks and No. 52 on the Billboard 200.
It also features a track with Tove Lo with whom they toured in March 2017.
So what is so special about their music?
It is melodic, catchy and very deep lyrically dealing with topics no other artist would touch. If you like Lorde you will love them even more.
What's next for them to come?
Although, they haven't spoken about new music yet, it could very well be that their third album comes out in 2018 so fingers crossed that they will soon release the lead single for it.
