bboat11 I don't think any of the Taylor fans/stans (or most of them, at least, if they're not delusional) would argue with you about Taylor's vocals being pretty weak during this era. While she's improved over the course of her career, vocals were never her strong point. She has a knack for writing great songs (lyrics are her strong point in her country songs) so I'm assuming that's what drew people in. The lyrics are well-written for someone of her age and it perfectly captured the target demographic. Anyways, I'm glad you liked the album and I hope that swayed you into sending in a list for Fearless onwards as well! Oh I have been planning all along to submit lists from Fearless onwards  Based on what I am familiar with, I can confidently say that I enjoy Taylor's Fearless-onwards music significantly more than I enjoyed anything she released as a country artist! |

It's Taylor Swift (the album)'s 11th anniversary today (released on October 24, 2006)!!
Taylor Swift was released on October 24, 2006 as Taylor Swift's debut album. She was 16 years old when she released this album (what was I doing when I was 16...?) and it became a launch pad for her very successful career that followed this album. It was led by the single "Tim McGraw" named after the famous country superstar which reached #6 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs and #40 on the Hot 100. The album debuted on the Billboard 200 at #19, selling 40,000 copies in its first week, but went on to reach #5 over a year after its release due to her rising popularity and the success of her singles. "Teardrops On My Guitar" and "Our Song" followed the lead single, and both were successes on country radio, with the latter becoming her first #1 and her longest-reigning #1 with six weeks at the summit of Hot Country Songs. Both of them crossed over to pop radio while the fourth and fifth singles, "Picture to Burn" and "Should've Said No" (which became her second #1 on country radio and was charting up until a month or so before the release of "Love Story") kept her name out there on country radio. The album ended up selling over 5 million copies in the US and over 6 million worldwide, and helped her build the foundation for one of her most-successful albums yet, Fearless. On the critical acclaim side, she won the Horizon Award at the 2007 CMAs and New Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2008 ACMs. She also was nominated for Best New Artist at the 2008 Grammy Awards. |

there is only two songs on here that deserve to win - "Tim McGraw" and "Teardrops on My Guitar". "Our Song", "Picture To Burn" and "Should've Said No" have no business ever winning a rankdown imo.
Not sure I'll participate as while I liked her first two singles I hate "Our Song" and "Picture To Burn" and those will easily be near the bottom of the list for me. I have never listed to this album in its entirety so maybe there are worse songs but I do not like either of those.

My top 5 is awesome and obvious (to me). However, since my #14 is easy too, it'll be hard to find a #13. Maybe I should just throw "Picture To Burn" there and call it a day. |

I might extend the deadline, but to ensure that your ranks will be counted, please have it in by November 8th! Of course, as is the case with my rankdowns, I am open to giving extensions, so feel free to tell me  So here are some facts about the RD the way it's looking right now:
- There have been 12 lists sent in so far (including mine)! Thank you to all of you who have sent in a list!!
- The race for #1 is super tight, only 5 points separate the #1 and #4!
- #5-#9 is also an interesting battle to watch, with there only being an 11 point difference between #5 and #9.
- Also if the results don't change, someone is about to get REALLY unlucky when the results are revealed...
