It’s official. Taylor Swift’s reputation (Big Machine) has edged past prior smash 1989 to become her fourth consecutive album to debut with a million-plus first week. The star’s much-talked-about set has bowed with approximately 1.29m on the HITS Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart.
As we previously reported, nobody else has done 1m in their first week more than twice. (Adele had three million-plus weeks, but they were for the same release: 25.). For reference, NSYNC, Backstreet Boys and Eminem have had two platinum-plus debuts apiece.
The only other debut to make the Top 20 is Evanescence’s Synthesis (BMG), which lands at #8 with 34k.
And Lil Pump’s eponymous full-length enjoys a noteworthy boost, going #16-10 as the up-and-comer’s “Gucci Gang” (Tha Lights Global/Warner Bros.) holds at #2 on our Streaming Songs Chart and continues to climb at Rhythm and Urban radio.
With the Grammy nominations’ reveal date (11/28) nearing, a few key names make moves up the chart. Post Malone’s Stoney (Republic) jumps #9-5. His latest smash, “rockstar,” remains #1 on the Streaming Songs Chart (with 25.6m+ streams) and Song Revenue Chart (with $193k+ in total weekly revenue). Ed Sheeran’s Divide (Atlantic) hops #10-7, as current single “Perfect” inches closer to the Pop radio Top 10. The track also moves into the Revenue Chart Top 5 and the Streaming Songs Top 20.
Then there’s Mercury Nashville’s Chris Stapleton—another possible Grammy contender, who’s fresh off his Album and Male Vocalist of the Year CMA wins. From a Room: Volume 1, which dropped in May, breaks back into the SPS Top 30, while 2015’s Traveller rises #41-33.
Christmas is a little over a month away. Of course, you know that means: Pentatonix. RCA’s all-star a cappella group, leaps #29-17 with A Pentatonix Christmas.
Speaking of yuletide merriment, Metallica re-entered the chart at #25. The band’s Master of Puppets (Blackened) is propelled by the recent release of its deluxe anniversary edition. Stuff that in your stocking and smoke it.
When it comes to the battle for SPS marketshare, UMG holds 72%, WMG follows with 14% and SME is #3 with 13%, while the indies claim 1%.
Streeting this week is Tim McGraw & Faith Hill’s first-ever joint album, The Rest of Our Life (McGraw Music/Arista Nashville). Also coming: Dack Janiels/Broken Bow’s Chase Rice, N-Less/Interscope’s Moneybagg Yo & YoungBoy Never Broke Again and Island’s Tove Lo, as well as Sia’s Christmas release. Pass the eggnog.
Her label was overzealous AF with their estimates "2 million!" "1.75 million!" "1.5 million!" "1.4 million!" "1.35 million!" Scott Borchetta: "SOMEBODY FIRE THAT JACKASS!"
Still a great showing but damn.
Was anything above 1.5 million ever confirmed as an estimate for just the US? I thought that the 2 million figure wasn't specified as US only.
The 1.5 was for sure though, and it expectedly trended downward without the huge hits and blitz that her others arrived with.

Not sure if trolling hum
All of you praising her and happy about this, did you see me quote yall rebuke your opinions? Nope I was mature and let you all say your opinions. I just made my opinion known and now I'm moving on to drugs and alcohol for the night
It's very rude to silence me or rebuke my opinions or degrade me .

Dude I can't take anyone who shouts white privilege seriously especially when they have "being black is magical" right next to their username. But moving on.

Well to be fair whiteness is so prevalent while blacks are constantly facing oppression, so saying "being black is magical" is more of an empowerment when constantly being told by society that being black is basically inferior, I feel like. I'm not black so I could very well be wrong on this, so feel free to correct me (this applies to anyone).

I absolutely live for her continued domination. There have been droves of people predicting and even hoping for her downfall since that Grammy fiasco with Stevie Knicks circa the Fearless era. It is always something every album and she just keeps cranking out blockbusters. Now, her time for a setback, like all artists, is anytime now, but for each inch she sails past that inevitable slump, I am living. Fan aside, it is just inspirational to see any artist this consistently successful in this day and age. Her fourth million+ debut and in a sales climate like this. Miraculous. Here is hoping this becomes her sixth consecutive release to clear 4 million sold domestically. Lord knows the album has the hits to pull it off.

Either take a social theory class or refrain from engagement in topics that you do not understand or have an informed knowledge of.
I dunno, things are just really starting to turn me off about her now, with the LWYMMD payola thing to the overzealous 2m sales estimate to her highly obstinate attempts to resist streaming. they're really starting to get full of themselves.

Well go ahead and put "White Power" under yours. Will you take them seriously than since you guys will be on "equal" footing.
Great number for Swift. Lots of predictions were a lot lower and Taylor got another debut week with 1 Million in the bag. If "Look What You Made Me Do" was a bigger hit, the number would of been a lot higher.
At least we now have a million seller for this year. Ed and Kendrick will eventually get there too, so 3 million pure sales sellers for 2017 is good enough in this climate
Also legit impressed with Pink's pure sales legs as well. The album has a shot to get 1M pure sales if she can score another hit even in What About Us size level
I love that we are always finding ways to try to get someone to listen to our flop faves. No YOP thread, RT theme, or Games section stone will be left unturned in our mission to get somebody, anybody to validate our taste in music. That is when you know the love of the music is real. Like "LISTEN TO THESE SONGS THEY'RE GREAT DAMMIT PLEASE GIVE MY FAVES 0.0000002 CENTS ON SPOTIFY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD." It's the modus operandi of Pulse so much at this point.
How is this going to hold up now all the swifties have bought it for the ticket sale incentives? I guess I see there is another week to buy. It'll be interesting to see how this holds up after tickets do go on sale. That was a huge incentive for her diehards to buy multiple copies. If this goes to streaming anytime soon after that, physical sales could plummet
I'm not trying to be negative either. She essentially did a ticket bundle, but not in a traditional way. Essentially anyone who bought the album is guaranteed to get a ticket, if they know about this whole process, but those who bought multiple copies can get better tickets. Now maybe being negative- I don't know how this will work out. I'm sure there's a lot Of peoplebuying multiple copies to get better tickets, but they might not even live close to the venue. I don't know the whole details but there is something about buying multiple copies and doing social media things that help you with better tickets, but do people still have to pay full price if they've done everything? I'm just asking now. Can anyone explain this whole thing to me about the ticket incentives?

Reputation sold 40-50k on a daily basis for the rest of the week though so that would put it somewhere around 300k for second week. Sounds great to me.
