Didn't Billboard say the adjustments will start in 2018, does it mean January 2018 in the published date or the Billboard "chart year" which starts in December? If the latter then the new adjustments will start on this week's chart

This makes a lot of sense since the programmed/on-demand+YouTube ratio is 2:1. The 2017 formula is: sales/6 + airplay/7,000 + on-demand/1,250 + YouTube/1,250 + programmed/2,500 I think for 2018 it's going to be something like: sales/5 + airplay/7,000 + paid on-demand/1,500 + free on-demand/2,250 + YouTube/2,250 + programmed/3,000 Did you happen to use this formula for your predictions today? No, I'm using the 2017 formula but I adjusted it to be close to simmnfierzig/George's numbers. sales/7.2 + airplay/8,400 + on-demand/1,500 + YouTube/1,500 + programmed/3,000

If the latter then the new adjustments will start on this week's chart Idk. This year they changed the formula in the chart dated February 11th and I think in 2016 was the same thing.

Hopefully Urban fans don't have money for Premium Spotify. Woah, I thought this type of sentiment was supposed to be more closeted and subtle around here!

Isn't the weighting difference also going to take on-demand vs. passive into account? It seems there's so many factors: on-demand vs. passive vs. paid vs. non-paid vs. YouTube vs. audio-only vs. video. And then to make things even more confusing many of the services offer all of these different methods of listening, so will it be weighed differently by Service or by listening type? And then of course, we have no idea what the weighing differences will be.

Will Lil Peep be able to hit the Hot 100?
A lot of his music is new, so unlike some of the other people who died this year, he won't have to hit the top 50, just the top 100.

Why is Disturb's cover of Sound Of Silence back in the iTunes Top 20? Seems to be because of this, considering when I Googled that song, the news that appear are related to the NASA footage. Must have gone viral.

Probably not, his fan base likely wasn’t big enough and was mostly on SoundCloud, plus he really didn’t have one song that was really popular among those communities.

Yes, but that all changes when you die, especially this young and unexpected. About The Sound of Silence, the first thing that came to my mind was that it might have tied in with the release of Justice League, because when Batman vs. Superman came out last year there was that meme of TSOS playing to the interview footage of Ben Affleck looking bored and dreary, and the song's current resurgence might be hearkening back to that, especially cuz the new movie isn't getting good reviews as well. But I guess that's a huge stretch and it's probably just a coincidence lol

Taylor should at least perform or premiere a music video for "End Game". No one knows that the song is available on iTunes and they should lol.

Woah, I thought this type of sentiment was supposed to be more closeted and subtle around here! Fans of Urban music =/= Black people lol "I hope that fans of black music are too impoverished to afford Spotify, because I am angry at the success of black music styles." But guys! That's not racist. A lot of them are white, like Post Malone!

Anyway, Lil Peep currently is at #50 on Spotify's daily list.
I still feel as if there's a chance that he could debut. The real reason not just being all his fans coming together to listen to him on the same week, but also the fans of people like XXX, Lil Pump, and Post who have all been talking about him on social media.
In fact, I personally didn't know Lil Peep from Lil Beep before he died. But I was reminded of his existence by XXX's instagram.
I remember hearing about a white sound rapper dude with tats all over his face named Lil Peep months ago, but I think when Lil Pump broke out, I ended up remembering my encounter with Lil Peep to have been with Lil Pump.

Looking at that AI chart, I am astonished how far Urban ratings have gone down.
Examine any top 20 chart from the whole 2000s decade and it was almost the inverse.

An even bigger factor for Urban songs not doing as well as they used to in audience is the fact that Top 40 radio is not embracing Urban material like they did in the 2000's.

We might see that change now that streaming data is showing urban music is popular. Nah. Streaming's been showing the popularity of urban music since 2015, and no major influx of urban on radio. Reason's pretty obvious: the people listening to radio are not generally urban fans. Top 40 is going to continue to look more and more like Hot AC as younger people abandon radio.
