Taylor Swift's 'Reputation' Spends Third Week at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart
Taylor Swift’s Reputation album notches a third week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, making it the first set to rack up three weeks atop the list since Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. in May. Reputation earned 147,000 equivalent album units (down 43 percent) in the week ending Nov. 30, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 131,000 were in traditional album sales (down 43 percent).
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Dec. 16-dated chart (where Reputation holds at No. 1) will be posted in full on Billboard's websites on Tuesday (Dec. 5).
Only four albums have spent three or more weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2017: Reputation, DAMN., Drake’s More Life and The Weeknd’s Starboy. DAMN. and More Life both spent three weeks atop the list, while Starboy claimed four frames at No. 1 in 2017, following one week at No. 1 in 2016, when it debuted at No. 1 (Dec. 27, 2016-dated list). Remarkably, the last album by a woman to earn at least three weeks at No. 1 was Adele’s 25, which clocked 10 nonconsecutive weeks in the penthouse between its chart-topping debut on Dec. 12, 2015 and its final week at No. 1 on March 12, 2016.
After two weeks where the Reputation album was not available in full through streaming services (only its four pre-release tracks could be played), the entire set was made available to all streamers on Dec. 1. The album should see a spike in streaming activity on next week’s chart (covering the streaming, and sales, tracking week ending Dec. 7).
Meanwhile, back on this week’s new chart, Pentatonix’s former No. 1, A Pentatonix Christmas, surges from No. 5 to No. 2 with 70,000 units (up 47 percent), of which 56,000 were in album sales (up 41 percent). The set (which topped the Jan. 7 and Jan. 14, 2017-dated Billboard 200 following its 2016 release) rises following the Nov. 27 premiere of the group’s NBC special A Very Pentatonix Christmas and sale pricing and promotion in the iTunes Store (where the album was marked down to $6.99).
Sam Smith’s former leader, The Thrill of It All, holds steady at No. 3 with 62,000 units (up 6 percent), with 36,000 of that sum in pure album sales (up 10 percent).
Garth Brooks’ box set, The Anthology: Part I, The First Five Years, is a non-mover at No. 4 in its second chart week, with 57,000 equivalent album units (up 7 percent, all in traditional album sales). The box set, which is only available on CD, rises following sale pricing timed to the Black Friday shopping holiday on Nov. 24.
Ed Sheeran’s ÷ (Divide) jumps 9-5 with 42,000 units (up 3 percent), Post Malone’s Stoney skips 10-6 with a little over 37,000 units (down 5 percent), P!nk’s Beautiful Trauma slips one rung to No. 7 with 37,000 units (down 16 percent) and Lil Uzi Vert's Luv Is Rage 2 is stationary at No. 8 with 35,000 units (down 15 percent).
Michael Bublé’s former No. 1, Christmas, returns to the Billboard 200's top 10, as vaults from No. 23 to No. 9 with 34,000 units (up 61 percent), with 17,000 in traditional album sales (up 52 percent). The holiday favorite topped the Billboard 200 for five consecutive weeks in December of 2011 (its release year) and January of 2012. It has since revisited the top 10 every year during the holiday season, from Christmastime in 2012 through this year.
Closing out the top 10 is the region’s only debuting title: rappers Fabolous and Jadakiss’ collaborative album Friday on Elm Street. The set starts at No. 10 with 33,000 units (18,000 in traditional album sales). The effort grants Fabolous his sixth top 10 set (and first since the No. 1 Loso’s Way in 2009) and Jadakiss his fifth. The latter last visited the top 10 with the No. 4-peaking Top 5 Dead or Alive in 2015.

I do wonder if putting it on streaming this week could prop it up more in some way.

Only 4 albums have 3 or more weeks at #1 on the BB200 as stated above
Meanwhile, on the pure sales chart, Reputation is the first album to spend more than two weeks at #1 since '25' almost 2 years ago

I do wonder if putting it on streaming this week could prop it up more in some way. At least on Spotify, its songs aren't doing that well. Look What You Made Me Do was #60 and the highest ranking song there yesterday. The best that can be hoped is that it will stabilize its SPS and make up for some of the pure album sales. Although it will remain to be seen whether it can get some some sort of holiday boost over the next few weeks.

Her album has had no promo on spotify, no big playlist adds, I think she's doing just fine in there. Could be doing better with more promo though.

her album being on streaming already has all the media attention, spotify did ad on their website too. not to mention she has big airplay with 3 song in top50 pop radio. I do agree that her number are fine tho, it will probably do like +40m.

13k, 10k less than HDD's estimation. the drop is big compare to her other albums, also considering it was thanksgiving week. I don't think she will see big holiday boost.
anyway, did you know even tho they have partnership with buzzangle, their album chart is their own, different from buzzangle number? wish they use buzzangle's real sales, so we can compare with soundscan's point sales.(for non vinyl albums)

Less than 150k SPS? Not looking good. If the streaming release doesn’t save those numbers big time, I’m thinking Ed might have a chance to remain the SPS king of 2017 after all.

www.yahoo.com/music/chart-watch-pentatonix-michael-buble-bring-christmas-cheer-top-10-210455633.htmlChart Watch: Pentatonix and Michael Bublé bring Christmas cheer to the Top 10©Yahoo Music by Paul Grein December 4, 2017 If you didn’t have enough signs that Christmas is fast approaching, here’s another: Two holiday albums are moving up the top 10 on the Billboard 200. Pentatonix’s 2016 album A Pentatonix Christmas rebounds from No. 5 to No. 2 in its 18th chart week. Michael Bublé’s 2011 album Christmas rebounds from No. 23 to No. 9 in its 60th chart week. Pentatonix’s album spent two weeks at No. 1 in its first holiday season. It has sold 1,068,000 copies in traditional album sales. This is the fourth consecutive Christmas season that Pentatonix has cracked the top three with a holiday album. Bublé’s album logged five weeks at No. 1 in its first holiday season. It has sold 4,129,000 copies in traditional album sales. This is the seventh consecutive holiday season that Buble’s album has cracked the top 10. Buble’s album is the first album—of any description—to appear in the top 10 in seven consecutive years. Five other Christmas albums are listed in the top 40 on this week’s chart. Pentatonix’s 2014 album That’s Christmas to Me rebounds from No. 33 to No. 16 in its 38th chart week, Lindsey Stirling’s Warmer in the Winter jumps from No. 40 to No. 22 in its sixth week, Gwen Stefani’s You Make It Feel Like Christmas jumps from No. 44 to No. 23 in its fourth week, Josh Groban’s 2007 album Noel rebounds from No. 58 to No. 28 in its 78th chart week, and Mariah Carey’s 1994 album Merry Christmas rebounds from No. 67 to No. 31 in its 70th chart week. Bublé’s album is No. 1 on Top Catalog Albums for the second week in a row (and the 24th week overall). Only one Christmas album in the Nielsen era (which dates to 1991) has spent more time at No. 1 on the catalog chart. Kenny G’s Miracles: The Holiday Album headed the catalog chart for 27 weeks from 1995 through 1998. Note: A Pentatonix Christmas was removed from the catalog chart last week. The popularity of the newly released deluxe edition, which contains six new tracks, led Billboard to stop charting it as a catalog album. Top AlbumsTaylor Swift’s Reputation logs its third straight week at No. 1. It’s the first album to spend its first three weeks at No. 1 since Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN.last spring. It’s the first album by a female artist to achieve this feat since Adele’s 25 spent its first seven weeks at No. 1 two years ago. Reputation is Swift’s third consecutive studio album to spend its first three weeks at No. 1. Red and 1989 also spent their first three weeks on top before being toppled by One Direction albums—Take Me Home and FOUR, respectively. U2’s new album, Songs of Experience, will challenge Reputation for No. 1 next week. Expect a tight race for the top spot between these two albums. Reputation sold 131K in traditional album sales this week, bringing its three-week total to 1,580,000. Sam Smith’s The Thrill of It All holds at No. 3 in its fourth week. The album debuted at No. 1. Garth Brooks’s five-CD boxed set The Anthology: Part 1: The First Five Years holds at No. 4 in its second week. The album moves up to No. 1 on Top Country Albums, displacing Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s The Rest of Our Life. This is Brooks’s 17th No. 1 country album. Only two other artists have amassed 17 or more No. 1 albums. George Strait leads all artists with 26 No. 1 albums. Willie Nelson has also had 17. But both of those artists have been at it far longer than Brooks. Nelson first topped the country chart in October 1975. Strait first topped the chart in February 1984. Brooks first topped it in October 1990. This is Brooks’s fourth boxed set to top the country chart. No other artist has ever topped the country album chart with a boxed set. Ed Sheeran’s ÷ rebounds from No. 9 to No. 5 in its 39th week. The album spent its first two weeks at No. 1. Post Malone’s Stoney rebounds from No. 10 to No. 6 in its 51st week. The album peaked at No. 4. P!nk’s Beautiful Trauma dips from No. 6 to No. 7 in its seventh week. The album debuted at No. 1. Lil Uzi Vert’s Luv Is Rage 2 holds at No. 8 in its 14th week. The album debuted at No. 1. A Fabolous/Jadakiss collabo, Friday on Elm Street, debuts at No. 10. It’s Fabolous’ sixth top 10 album; Jadakiss’ fifth. Two albums drop out of the top 10 this week. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s The Rest of Our Life drops from No. 2 to No. 20. Maroon 5’s Red Blue Pills drops from No. 7 to No. 14. Bruno Mars’s 24K Magic rebounds from No. 52 to No. 27 in its 54th week. The album debuted and peaked at No. 2. Last Tuesday, Nov. 28, Mars received six Grammy nominations, including Album, Record and Song of the Year. The following night, CBS aired his first prime-time network TV special. The Moana soundtrack jumps from No. 46 to No. 43 in its 54th week. The album peaked at No. 2. It’s No. 1 on Top Soundtracks for the 32nd week. (It held off a challenge from the Coco soundtrack, which enters the Billboard 200 at No. 48. Coco has been No. 1 at the box office the last two weekends.) Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ Who Built the Moon? debuts at No. 49. The album enters the Official U.K. Albums Chart at No. 1.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/8062656/billboard-200-chart-moves-eagles-hotel-california-returnsBillboard 200 Chart Moves: Eagles' 'Hotel California' Returns After 40th Anniversary Reissue12/8/2017 by Keith Caulfield Plus: Perry Como’s back on the chart for the first time since 1976. Now, let’s take a closer look at some of the action on the latest Billboard 200 chart: — Eagles, Hotel California – No. 44 — After the classic No. 1 album was remastered and reissued to celebrate its 40th anniversary, it returns to the list at No. 44 (15,000 units; up 1,424 percent). The bulk of the album’s units were driven by traditional album sales: 12,000 (up 1,292 percent). The revamped edition includes a selection of live recordings from a 1976 concert at The Forum in Los Angeles. For sales tracking and charting purposes, all versions of Hotel California — new and old — are linked together. The original album spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the chart in 1977, and a total of seven months in the top 40. It launched the Billboard Hot 100 hit singles “New Kid in Town” (No. 1), the title track (No. 1) and “Life in the Fast Lane” (No. 11). — Soundtrack, Trolls Holiday - No. 109 — The Trolls Holiday soundtrack arrives at No. 109 and rallies 20-7 on the Soundtracks chart with 7,000 units (up 117 percent), following the TV special’s NBC premiere on Nov. 24. The album features a cover of Madonna’s “Holiday,” as performed by the special’s voice actors Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick, along with the rest of the cast. Timberlake of course formerly collaborated with Madonna on her Hard Candy album, which yielded the No. 3-peaking Hot 100 hit "4 Minutes" (Madonna featuring Timberlake and Timbaland). — Little Mix, Glory Days – No. 116 — The album, which debuted and peaked at No. 25 a little more than a year ago (Dec. 10, 2016-dated chart), re-enters the list at No. 116 after its deluxe reissue on Nov. 24. The new version of the album features a host of bonus tracks, which helps the album return with 7,000 units (up 392 percent). (Like Hotel California, above, all versions of Glory Days are merged together for tracking purposes.) — “Weird Al” Yankovic, Squeeze Box: The Complete Works of “Weird Al” Yankovic – No. 185 — The comedian-singer’s 15-CD box set starts at No. 185 with 6,000 units (all from traditional album sales). The collection boasts all 14 of his studio albums remastered, alongside a bonus disc of non-album tracks. The box was also available on vinyl, and shifted nearly 2,000 copies — enough to debut at No. 21 on the Vinyl Albums chart. — Perry Como, The Classic Christmas Album – No. 196 — The Grammy and Emmy Award-winning singer and TV personality returns to the chart for the first time since 1976, as his 2014 holiday collection The Classic Christmas Album bows at No. 196. The set’s debut is mostly driven by on-demand audio streams of its songs, which include familiar seasonal favorites like “(There’s No Place Like) Home for the Holidays” and “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.” Como, who died in 2001, was last on the chart in 1976 with Just Out of Reach, peaking at No. 142.
