Cue most people on Pulse losing their mind and be so ecstatic on this song in 3....2....1.
In my opinion this should've been the lead single.

This was always best released as the second single. But I do agree people will be happy. I knew it was #2 choice based on cd sale sticker alone.

The sticker made it pretty obvious to me too. I would have been very surprised had they gone with anything else, but it's nice to see official confirmation that this is the second single. This could be a career hit for Luke.

Best single of Luke's career and a song that the country needs to listen to. Very proud of him for releasing this

^I'm not going to get ecstatic over it because it has been pretty obvious that this was going to be a single at some point.

Good! I haven't heard anything else from his album (apart from previous single), but I doubt there is anything better than this, and this message needs to be out there :)

Did his label finally realize that generic, faceless singles don’t work as well for him anymore? So happy with this choice!

Standout song of the album. Single order should have been "What Makes You Country", "Most People Are Good", "Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset", "Hooked On It" and "Like You Say You Do". The unexplainable decision to lead off with "Light It Up" still makes me shake my head. Nevertheless, glad they are moving forward with MPAG.

This is a bad song IMO. It's just so weak on pretty much every level. The instrumentation is severely lacking, and the lyrics and overall sound of the song sounds so 'cheesy' and phoned-in to me. I don't get why everyone loves it so much tbh, but to each their own lol. Sounds like it was the right choice for a single though, if by popular demand alone.
Melodically, the chorus is nice enough. That's really the only positive thing I can muster up to say about this song lol.

That's really the only positive thing I can muster up to say about this song lol. I like the song a fair bit, but I agree wholeheartedly about the instrumentation. The verses are just begging for some heavy steel guitar, or...something else to convey the weight of the song. Luke doesn't have the most emotive voice, and the instrumentation does him no favors here. I actually like the lyrics though, particularly the second verse. "I believe youth is spent well on the young, 'cause wisdom in your teens would be a lot less fun" is a damn good lyric. The melody is strong as well, though could've been better served by the aforementioned instrumentation. Kudos to Luke for not trying to shoe horn a stronger underlying beat (as is all to often the norm these days), which lets the melody stand out. I don't know if I like it as much as Fast, but it's still ones of Luke's best releases to date and I'm glad this is what he chose to release after that borefest of a lead single.

I keep getting it and What Makes You Country mixed up because I know one is being touted as being good, but they’re both equally mediocre to me.

This is definitely the best song on the album. Great song that really hits home and drives an important message. I think this will do really well for Luke, at least better than the dull "Light It Up". Also, the lyrics seems to mean more to me coming from Luke on this one. His "awww shucks" nice guy personality is perfect to help sell this one.

Good choice! Aside from the “most Mama’s outta quality for Sainthood” line, which I find silly, this one is really catchy.

Good choice! Aside from the “most Mama’s outta quality for Sainthood” lime, which I find silly, this one is really catchy. Except it's true.

This is a great song and very easily one of the best single he's put out to radio over the past 5 or so years, but I agree with some of the above comments that it could've been much, much better with countrier production. This song really begs to be dressed up a lot more uniquely country in the studio, but instead the finished product here feels a bit bland and cold, which is a disconnect for me with the rest of its elements. That said, it's a minor qualm compared to his usual radio fare where literally everything about it is all wrong, so I'll take a solid B+/A- song from Luke Bryan any day over another song about cell phones and hip swivels.

I feel like when the songwriting in Nashville got bad (since 2012) the producers stepped in and made themselves "more important," if you will.
In real country music, the writing will NEVER take a back seat to the production and if producers have an issue with that they are in the wrong genre.
Luke, like many artists, has been a victim of this line of thought. This song would be HEAVENLY with a steel guitar and a more toned-down feel. I disagree that this is the best song he's ever released. The best message? Absolutely. But a song is a lot more than just the words.
Country has always been a great marriage of lyrics, music, and delivery that makes you feel just the right way. This song, like nearly every commercially-influenced country song these days, suffers from an unfortunate imbalance of those three ingredients.

This is a great song, but nowhere near as good as "Roller Coaster" or ""Someone Else Calling You Baby".

I would've preferred "Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset" or "Drinkin' Again". This is a mid-tier song on a mediocre album. The acoustic guitar and lyrics aren't terrible though.

I'm thrilled they are releasing this. I can see where some might think this is cheesy but sometimes songs like this need to be simple in order to connect. A great song doesn't have to be deep lyrically. What makes one great is the connection people have to it. This is the type of song Luke Bryan needed in his catalog.

Finally listened to this and wow I like it a lot...however it’s go from solid to amazing so easily as .indulgecountry said if it had more country elements. I’d love to hear this recorded with fiddle and steel all over it.

I don't exactly find that line silly, but for some reason that line doesn't really work for me. Like I like this song but something about that line doesn't feel right to me and I don't know why.

With Luke releasing this as a single, Thomas releasing Marry Me, and Blake probably releasing I lived it, we could be in for a decent run on radio

I have to say not being a Luke Bryan fan , I really like this song and I think the line" most mama's outta qualify for Sainthood" fits very well in the song. "Most people are good" and so are most mama's and they should qualify for Sainthood, but sadly there are some not so nice mama's also. I would like for Luke to release more songs like this.

Maybe because you're not a momma? I don't have to directly relate to a song to get it. Also I knw I'm not a momma, because 1. I'm a male and 2. I have never dated in my life. But just because I can't directly relate to a lyric doesn't mean I can't get it. Besides I know that's not the reason why that lyric is working for me. I don't know what it is, but I know it's not that.
