Yeah I get that. Equality for all races is all fine and dandy, but all races aren’t being brutalized right now either. So the spotlight needs to be on black lives matter, and as extension, minority rights.
I don’t think people should be persecuted for not saying something, that would be wrong. But I sure as hell will not support someone who doesn’t speak up loudly about it now. Now is the time to put your money where your mouth is.
I feel like Billie Eilish hit it dead on with her post. If you’re not saddened by these senseless deaths, if you’re not pissed off about the White privilege that is being exposed, if you’re not angry about the manipulation of law enforcement and politicians and the justice system, if you’re not disgusted by white supremacists and the entitlement they feel over this country, you are a racist. White people are cheating the system whether they are doing so consciously or unconsciously.
God, I know this isn’t nearly as bad, but we’re getting a taste of what Nazi Germany felt like. If they could commit genocide they would.

I’m so curious, what reason would there be not to speak out against this kind of injustice? I need to know... Some people remain neutral for religious reasons we will not be doing this. if your religion excuses racism and excludes black lives then GTFO.

Why wasn't it certified 7xP then? because they probably applied for these certifications a while back. RIAA is always behind when it comes to what songs/albums are "eligible" for. glad to see "NASA" with that platinum. surprised they got "Goodnight n Go" gold certified, but none of the TUN album tracks, all of which are allegedly gold eligible. maybe they're waiting to get platinum.

The RIAA is not behind.
Labels are behind. They start the certification process, as I'm sure you know.

They start the certification process, as I'm sure you know. your point is...? you asked why it wasn't certified 7x. it's probably because when the label submitted their application, it was only eligible for 5x. which means it took pretty long for the RIAA to verify the units. or maybe it's like you said, the label took forever to submit the application. either way, RIAA units rarely reflect how many units a song has actually moved. they are always less than the real amount, because there is paperwork and fees involved (hence why Republic waited this long to certify "7 rings" -- it had no certification before today).

Getting an RIAA certifications is simple paperwork. Certs don't take months to happen.
Future's new album was certified Gold by the RIAA the day it came out.
7R wasn't certified for 7xp, because it is not eligible for 7xP.

I was tweeting Republic Records about Ariana's Yours Truly album being eligible for a Gold album cert.
Someone Republic employee DM'ed me saying I was wrong. I wrote back saying it's at 472k. It's probably Gold.
Republic then blocked me on Twitter and certified the album Gold a few weeks later.
They used to be really quick with certifying records. Then they stopped.

People say these are registered on ASCAP but they are nowhere to be found. Besides "Nasty," a snippet she shared a while back on IG that fans have given that name, I have a hard time believing any of these songs are real. It's quite early for AG6 and it sounded like Ariana knew when she did the Apple Music interview for "Stuck With U."

I will adress the fees first. -For RIAA member companies: $350 per certification -For Non-members: $450 per level of certification (must be prepaid)
-If multiple sales levels are certified simultaneously, the audit certification fee is only charged once per title to RIAA member companies. Non-member pay per level of certification requested. Example certifying from ground to 5 x Platinum. It will cost 350$ RIAA members or 2,700$ for non members. Every record label that is under UMG/SME/WMG is an RIAA member.
List can be found here . Anyways both sums are pennies for record labels so it is irrelevant. Regarding paperwork, they need to fill a simple Excel document, to provide sales report & 'product metadata' about the single/album.
I haven't worked in music industry. So my opinion is that this isn't that hard. You can fill the Excel data in under 5 minutes, you can get the streaming numbers with 2/3 clicks. About the sales data, the record label should have sales reports every month/quartal (3 months).
So all in all it isn't hard if you care. The sales report aside, everything can be done in under 10 minutes. Regarding the wait, i will blindly believe RIAA for now lol: -A 30-day time limit is set for pending certifications. If a full audit cannot be completed within this time, $100 will be rendered to member companies and $200 to non-member companies. So now you will ask me why is it certified only 5 X Platinum. This is my hypothesis which makes sense, but still take it with a grain of salt. 7 Rings had 575,8M On Demand Audio streams in 2019. And it had 476,000 digital sales in 2019. Sales are 500K+ now. Based on oldbloke estimates it should have like 660M+ On demand Audio streams total. 675M streams and 500K sales = 5 x Platinum So my theory why it is 5xP is because it was certified with audio streams only (without video streams). Why is that? -idk maybe the person who works at the label and submitted it is not entirely familiar with the rules and everything that is eligible to count. I only say this because it is not the first time when i notice something like this.
Also 7 Rings moved 6M units way back last year. So i don't believe RIAA is more than 6 months late. Also like another user said RIAA are pretty quick with some certifications. Like 'Scorpion'/'High of Life' being certified the day of release. Or 'Old Tow Road' being certified 3XP around a week after moving 3M units. Or how quick 'Life is Good' has been getting updated certification levels. So yea it is not delay on RIAA side. 1 billion streams and almost 500k sales, I think that's enough for 7x platinum. Just wondering where the number is from. IF it is fro Nielsen Year End report 2019
7 Rings had 575,880,000 On Demand Audio Streams & 553,887,000 On Demand Video Streams
The video streams include UGC and UGC is ineligible for certification for RIAA. -Only official label/company videos count towards certification, User Generated Videos do not.
Anyway 7 Rings should be above 1B streams, replying just in case you were using that number as a whole.
Old Town Road had 2,499,608,000 On demand Audio+Video streams in 2019. Like 800K of those were UGC videos.

according to this article, just the on-demand streams for "7 rings" makes it eligible for 8X Platinum! (8.33 to be exact) Assuming it has at least 400,000 sales, it's pretty close to 9X Platinum. [certified 5X, missing 3X] "thank u, next" should also be eligible for 8X Platinum. [certified 5X, missing 3X] "Bang Bang" should also be eligible for 8X Platinum. [certified 6X, missing 2X] "Side to Side" should be eligible for 7X Platinum. [certified 4X, missing 3X] "Problem" should be eligible for 7X Platinum. [certified 6X, missing 1X] "No Tears Left To Cry" is eligible for 5X Platinum. [certified 3X, missing 2X] "Into You" should be eligible for 5X Platinum. [certified 3X, missing 2X] "Dangerous Woman" is eligible for 5X Platinum. [certified 3X, missing 2X] "Break Free" is eligible for 5X Platinum. [certified 3X, missing 2X] "The Way" is eligible for 5X Platinum. [certified 3X, missing 2X] "Love Me Harder" is eligible for 4X Platinum. [certified 3X, missing 1X] "Break Up with Your Girlfriend" is eligible for 4X Platinum. [certified 3X, missing 1X] "God is a woman" is eligible for 4X Platinum. [certified 2X, missing 2X] "One Last Time" should be just short of 4X Platinum. [certified 1X, missing 2X] TL;DR — on these songs alone, she's got 50X Platinum certifications when she's eligible for 78X.

Those numbers from chartdata Billboard include UGC. They are not as high as Old Tow Road had, but still the whole number can't be used for RIAA certifications.
