Ha, just like that, I went from four songs left in my bottom 10 and nine left in my bottom 20 to two songs left in my bottom 10 and five left in my bottom 20. Unfortunately, I've now lost three songs in my top 10 and eight in my top 20, plus two more in my 21-50 zone of annihilation.

Kind of knew "Sister Christian" would go out early. Same with "Major Tom", though I was really hoping it could stick around for a while longer.
Oh well, at least "Islands in the Stream" is gone. Leaves me with one bottom ten song...and I knew going in that would be my last bottom ten. Oh boy.

Sister Christian going out before the top 10 is a travesty to Powerballad lovers. My internet connection took a shit before I could complete part 2 of my post yesterday, so here go my personal 41-60, so you can reminisce to.. A few more of my personal peaks as well as Billboard peaks for these classics.
60. It's A Miracle - Culture Club (7) (B13) The last single off "Colour by Numbers", also became one of my favorites from the band. www.youtube.com/watch?v=YewVugPHon459. It's My Life - Talk Talk (7) (B31) Another band following the New Wave /New Romantic British Invasion, hit big on my charts in 1984. This one and "Talk Talk" were the only times I charted the band. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ixRWvrkUHo58. Bop 'Til You Drop - Rick Springfield (7) (B20) The second single of "Hard To Hold" soundtrack also went Top 10 on y charts. This song was such a "bop"; its a crime it didn't go higher on Billboard. I don't think I would ever stop charting Rick Springfield. For those interested; he just released a brand new album on Frontiers Music Label (the home of most 80's Rock acts) paying ode to some Blues rock. It's called "the Snake King". Great record. www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLnu8SzOGfsThis video is like part 2 of Duran Duran's "Wild Boys" 57. Adult Education - Daryl Hall and John Oates (8) (B8) Now this is funny. Here I was complaining about where this ended up on our own rankdown, while I actually put it at the same slot, so I guess it fell right in place after all? www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLYqTZKEpvsI thought this video was a preview to the new Indiana Jones movie? 56. Gold - Spandau Ballet (8) (B29) One of the biggest acts in the U.K. broke out big in the States with "True". This was the second single off that record with the same name. Spandau ballet still make music, and I still chart them. "Gold" is pure class. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntG50eXbBtc55. Sex Shooter - Apollonia 6 (6) (B85) After Vanity left the group; Prince recruted Aplolonia Kotero, and they became Apollonia 6. This song flopped in the U.S. but was a big hit in Europe and my own personal charts. I remember staying up late friday nights, just to catch this one on MTV after hours. I know you were all expecting this one to show up? www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8U1OYFhXQU54. On The Dark Side - John Cafferty and The Beaver Brown Band (6) (B7) ...and here is is where I charted this very Bruce Springsteen sounding mega hit. www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgIsyoxZ7Uw53. Rebel Yell - Billy Idol (5) B46) I can't beleive this New Wave classic didn't go top 40 on Billboard www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdphvuyaV_I52. Miss Me Blind - Culture Club (4) (B5) I forgot if this one already showed up here? Culture Club was one of the most successful New Wave bands than crossed over to Pop charts. This band was all over my charts in 80's for their distinguished style of New Wave Pop. No other band sounded like them. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFVuuRxM2VU51. ?

50. The Warrior (8): WTF??!!!! Shit! This is my first top 10/20 loss. I've loved this one since I first heard it back in 1984, and it was a super high top 15 debut in my personal chart, and then quickly reached the top. I had already been a fan of Love's Got A Line On You, and especially Goodbye To You, which has been Scandal's biggest hit in the 80s back home. In terms of The Warrior, I love its rockness, Patty's attitude and strong vocal performance, the melodic male background vocals. I feared that I would be amongst its highest rankers, but I still hoped that it would be in the upper quarter of this RD. 49. Caribbean Queen (37): I remember how good and epic this song felt when released. A big hit back home and in my personal chart. I've liked the elegant vibe of the song, the delicious saxophone and strings combo, and the last minute or so with the ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-OOH-OOH-ooh --and I especially liked the extended version. Plus, the interesting fact of multiple versions of this song --yeah, before Gaga adapted You and I for different states, Billy chose different Queens in different parts of the world 48. Island in the Stream (41): It was so good to hear the Bee Gees still creating gems past their prime and for other artists, just like this personal favorite from 1984. The instrumentation hasn't aged as well as the melody and this made me rank it outside the top 40 (btw the melody is a key factor that made me like Ghetto Superstar several years later). 47. Sister Christian (80): This one wasn't popular back home, so I only heard it in the 2000s --and I grouped it with other pop songs masked as rock but without the needed umph (just like Round and Round). Sorry. The verses melody also remind me of a song I really liked -and consider much better- from 1991 -No Myth. 46. Major Tom (51): Another very distinct, unique song of this decade, a big hit back home and another song I really like --it was hard for me to rank it, and in the end I may have under-ranked it a bit. I really like the final minute or so, that always brings back so many good memories of childhood road trips. A couple of additional interesting facts: Peter's Noah Plan was also a hit back home; in the late 1990s this song was practically covered and transformed into a cumbia song back home called Colegiala (with its own dance craze... no comments) 45. Wrapped Around Your Night (68): I'm a huge fan of The Police. They have some of my favorite songs of the 1980s like Message in a Bottle, So Lonely, Roxanne, and other favorites like King of Pain, Spirits in a Material World, Every Little Thing She Does is Magic. Wrapped however felt a bit underwhelming. Strong, but could've been stronger especially for such a good year as 1984. Sad that I couldn't rank it higher --and with this song already out, I lost my bottom 1/3!! 44. The Glamorous Life (27): Another song I became a big fan since I heard it. I can still occasionally stop what I'm doing when this song, just to listen to that percussion and the whole instrumental behind the song. Superb and unique, just like several songs of this year. Wish it had been higher in this RD. 43. Dance Hall Days (64): A song that slowly but steadily climbed my personal chart to the runner spot. I like the smooth, calm vibe, the saxophone, and the whole vibe. I think that time has affected a bit my love for it, even though I still like it. 42. Cover Me (57): Bruce's biggest hits back home and personally were Dancing... and I'm Going Down. Cover Me and Born.. were in the second layer of hits. I like his strength and energy here, but I just wish the song were a bit longer and had a little something else. 41. Jump (For My Love) (29): This is my second favorite PS song (after Slow Hand), so I'm overall happy it managed to stay this long. I really like the dynamics of the song, from the understated verses and melodic bridge to the more euphoric chorus.

Here is part two of my post. Everyone of of these songs; even the hard rock ones, was a top 40 hit in 1984. 50. Only When You Leave - Spandau Ballet (6) (B34) The band released "Parade" in the summer of 1984. It was amoderate hit on U.S. Billboard, but the U.K. recognized the greatness of it, where it peaked at #3. It also easily went Top 10 on my charts. 49. ? 48. Runaway - Bon Jovi (7) (B39) One of my favorite rock songs of that year. Also the first Bon Jovi song I ever heard. I remember playing the cassette over and over trying to get the lyrics to the song. www.youtube.com/watch?v=s86K-p089R847. Panama - Van Halen (6) (B13) The third single off "1984". Hard rock was the strong sound on Billboard back in the day, and this one barely missed the top 10 that year. This one also went top 40. I would race home after class just to catch this video on MTv most requested. Actually the whole TRL top 10 was Metal and rock, so I was in music heaven back then. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fuKDBPw8wQA46. ? 45. We're Not Gonna Take It - Twisted Sister (3) (B21) The 80's were incredible. Even a crossdressing Glam Metal band could score themselves a top 40 hit. The Music Video skyrocketed this song to even more success.I also charted "I Wanna Rock", but it came in, just outside of my top 100 of the year. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xmckWVPRaI44. Relax - Frankie Goes To Hollywood (4) (B67) This was one of the biggest and most controversal songs of 1983 in the U.K. Even after being banned(FUCK the BBC); It still went to the top of the charts. It got so much attention oversees, that it crossed over to the States. The states were a bit more prudish with it in 1984, but it came back in 1985 and went to #10 . This is the original banned version of the MV. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCpz3LAjxek43. Bang Your Head (Metal Health) - Quiet Riot (4) (B31) 1984 is probably one of my favorite years in music. The diversity was incredibel. You already know where I slotted "Cum On Feel The Noize", so it's only natural that this was also one of my top 50 hits of the year. This was also one of MTVs biggest music videos of the year www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJChh7ghGnE42. I Can Dream About You - Dan Hartman (4) (B6) Off the album with the same name. This song gave me 50's like vibe, especially in the verses. Kinda like The Spinners "Working My Way back To You". For years I thought the band portrayed in the MV actually sang the song. www.youtube.com/watch?v=621Nk3Ubz4A 41. Back Where You Belong - 38 Special (4) (B20) 38 Special had a perfect Southern Rock vibe. Much like Boston and Kansas. This was the second single off "Tour de Force" that I charted. It became one of my favorite songs from them. Even today I give it a lot of recurrent plays on my foobar www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSu9AjAwJLINow look at that? Top 40 and I still have all the Huey Lewis and The News and Cars song to feature.

Was about to celebrate my 95 going out and clearing my bottom ten (bless you, π―π² lucy88 π―π²)...and then wham. (Not Wham, the music duo. ) To be fair, I actually expected this song to go out earlier, since "Sad Songs" went out much earlier...and at least no one ranked it bottom 20.

I don't get how 99 Luftballoons is gone already. I would've thought it'd be in the top 20 at least. It is kind of sad that She Bop is gone already, it is my favorite Cyndi Lauper song on this list. So, now I'm down to 2 songs in my bottom 10. One of which doesn't surprise me at all it's still here and the other one blows my mind that it's still here.

Wow u blink for a second and 1984 is already near the top 30, what a fun music ride. Nice work UΜΆnΜΆhinged! I believe my top 10 is in tact. On first glance I hoped to have seen songs like Sheila E, Cyndi and Wang Chung in the top 30 but I'm working through the pain.

I've got 18 of my Top 30 still left and all of my bottom 10 are gone (thank you for f**king off "99 Crapballoons"...I don't hate a lot of songs but that is one I can't stand so good riddance).
The Top 30 begins tomorrow...falling next is the first Top 10 hit from an artist who had their start in a band...

Billy Joel was robbed again, but at least not as badly as the other two songs. "99 Luftballoons" deserved better too, but I guess it was bound to be polarizing. I'm pleasantly surprised that "Eyes Without A Face" is still here.
"Say Say Say" and "Oh Sherrie" overstayed their welcome on the other hand, and I'm glad "Lucky Star" wasn't boosted too much by Madonna stans (although "Holiday" should have gone first). I'm also down to one unfamiliar song ("Self Control"). Maybe I'd remember it if I listened to it?
Now what's taking "Hold Me Now" and "Sunglasses At Night" so long to appear?

Damn!!! Even Madonna?? I thought she would be a lot higher on this list, like at least crack the top 10! Well, you see, she doesn't sing like a Vocaloid on "Lucky Star", so that clearly makes it worse than every other song on this list, including To All The Girls I've Loved Before, If Ever You're In My Arms Again, Hard Habit To Break, Think Of Laura, Infatuation...
