I'll be honest, I hope that people who don't like folk music / slower music just sit this one out. I don't feel like seeing people tank songs because 'they're too boring' or 'too much folky vibes'. There's quite a few songs on here that I think are outstanding, but we're just going to see people that don't understand the format tank them because they're too boring for them and not upbeat enough. Ex. The Lumineers are going to get shafted by some people when they fit this format wonderfully. Just take into consideration what format you're submitting for. It's the reason I'm probably going to tank some Alternative crossover songs that don't fit this format. Like how in the world did "Something Just Like This" chart here? lol You might hate me for this rankdown but we’ll see which folk songs I don’t like when I start listening for the rankdown.

What I'm saying is at least go into this with an open mind. Folk and slower songs make up like half this list, lol.

If you don't like the songs that we universally praise, yeah, that's a problem

I’m going to be MAD if Sign Of The Times gets tanked because it’s a pop song.

This has to be the first year for Triple A in which over half the songs on this list I'm familiar with. Count me in.

Wow, just had my first run-through and there were a LOT of discoveries here that were infectious just on first listen. I've been missing out on AAA music apparently! There are some songs here that I just listened to for the first time that will make my top 20, which rarely ever happens to me with rankdowns.
Also there are a few songs from 2017 Alt that I'm liking a little bit more with subsequent listens so I may be a bit kinder to some of them here, however, there are also way more songs that are vying for high spots on my list so I'm not sure.
Anyway, I just downloaded like 10 of the songs I haven't heard before because I liked them so much. This is why rankdowns exist.

Not going to lie, some (not all) of the folky/rootsy songs here aren't really my cup of tea, though I'm not likely to have them in my bottom 10 either. I'm mostly participating because there's a lot of great Alt-leaning stuff that got shafted on the actual Alternative charts.

Just sent in my list! Really looking forward to this rankdown since it's the best of the three rock Year-End lists. All 3 have really fantastic songs at the top but the dropoff here doesn't happen until much lower down on my list. I think half of my Top 10 is exclusive to this list so I'm happy I had the chance to rank them somewhere.

We interrupt this program to bring you our second Ballot Update! Our next three submitters are rockmandattebayo , zaclord 🌈 , and Web . What has changed with these three lists? - The song that was #1 at the end of the last Ballot Update is still #1...barely. #2 is just six points behind #1 (and the margins increase after that, with #3 being 25 points behind #2).
- Only three songs have spent the entire submission process in the top 10, with two of them spending the entire process so far in the top 5.
- The top 14 have at least 500 points.
- The highest standard deviation is currently at #78. The lowest is currently at #82.
- zaclord 🌈 's list changed the #100 for the first time in this rankdown, and it has stayed there since.
- Three songs have been in the bottom 10 for the entire submission process so far, with one song spending the entire process so far in the bottom 5.
- All songs have at least 100 points now, but the bottom 7 have not reached 200 points yet.
And finally, let's end the Ballot Update with Pulse's Favorite Part of the Ballot Update... Yes, I'm using Simpsons graphics now, per popular demand! Ties can currently be found at #19, #24, #48, #59 (three-way), #64, #78, #80, #83, and #87.

Just decided to compile this. Below is a list of exactly 70 songs that neither made the official Billboard or Mediabase chart, but made it to the #31 to #50 region on Mediabase at least. A * denotes the song is still charting. If I were to do a list for 2018, it'll probably be shorter as Billboard expanded their chart to 40 positions at the start of the 2018 chart year; this allowed some songs like "Around the World", "Too Good at Goodbyes" and "Sleep on the Floor" to make their chart.
Amos Lee - Running Out of Time Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness - Fire Escape Angel Olsen - Give It Up Barns Courtney - Glitter & Gold Bastille - Blame Bay Ledges - Safe (Speak Too Soon) BNQT - Restart Bob Moses - Tearing Me Up Broken Social Scene - Skyline Chicano Batman - Friendship (Is a Small Boat in a Storm) Chris Stapleton - Second One to Know Coldplay - Hymn for the Weekend Colony House - You & I Depeche Mode - Where's the Revolution Earl St. Clair f/ PJ - Ain't Got It Like That Ed Sheeran - Shape of You Empire of the Sun - Walking on a Dream Foo Fighters - The Sky Is a Neighborhood Foxygen - Follow the Leader Gregg Allman - My Only True Friend Grizfolk f/ Jamie N Commons - In My Arms* Grouplove - Welcome to Your Life Hamilton Leithauser + Rostam - In a Black Out Iron & Wine - Call It Dreaming J. Roddy Walston & the Business - The Wanting Jack Garratt - Weathered James Vincent McMorrow - Get Low Japanese House - Face Like Thunder John Mayer - In the Blood Joseph - Canyon Josh Ritter - Showboat Judah & The Lion - Take It All Back Kurt Vile & Courtney Barnett - Over Everything Leon Bridges - River Lewis Del Mar - Painting (Masterpiece) Liam Gallagher - For What It's Worth LP - No Witness Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real - Find Yourself The Lumineers - Blue Christmas Marcus King Band - Ain't Nothin' Wrong with That Margaret Glaspy - Emotions and Math Matt Simons - Lose Control Meg Mac - Don't Need Permission Michelle Branch - Best You Ever Morgan Saint - You* Muddy Magnolias - Devil's Teeth Nick Waterhouse - Katchi Noah Kahan - Hurt Somebody* Noah Kahan - Young Blood The Orwells - They Put a Body in the Bayou The Outdoor Type - On My Mind The Palms - Push Off Rag'n'Bone Man - Skin Real Estate - Stained Glass Red Hot Chili Peppers - Goodbye Angels The Secret Sisters - He's Fine Sir Sly - High Son Little - O Me O My The Strumbellas - Young & Wild Sturgill Simpson - Keep It Between the Lines Sylvan Esso - Die Young Tash Sultana - Jungle Tom Odell - Here I Am Trombone Shorty - Here Come the Girls twenty one pilots - Heathens Waxahatchee - Never Been Wrong Weezer - Feels Like Summer The Wild Reeds - Only Songs The 1975 - Somebody Else 311 - Too Much to Think
At least nine more songs also made the all-station chart: (these are found using kworb's archives) Aaron Lee Tasjan - Little Movies Benjamin Booker - Believe Fleet Foxes - Fool's Errand Hurray for the Riff Raff - Hungry Ghost LCD Soundsystem - call the police Lindsey Buckingham/Christine McVie - In My World Pokey LaFarge - Riot in the Streets Robert Plant - The May Queen Train - Play That Song
Of these, I wished Call It Dreaming, call the police, Fool's Errand, In a Black Out, In the Blood, My Only True Friend, Over Everything, Second One to Know and They Put a Body in the Bayou deserved better. "call the police" I'm especially pissed about because while it made the Mediabase alternative chart, it got the shaft on Billboard. "They Put a Body in the Bayou" actually charted on all three formats, but only made the official one for the format it fits the least - active rock. The chart runs for "Push Off", "Second One to Know" and "Skin" were pretty painful to watch; they took forever to leave.

I should be done this evening. I like this list but I don’t know if I’d call it better than the alt list. Because, for me anyways, the lows may have been lower there but the highs were much higher and more frequent. This list gets to a point where there are some middle of the road tracks that don’t evoke much of a response out of me. Granted there are way less bad songs and a song that was in my 70s for the alt list might end up in my bottom 10.

Not sure what your #1 would have been there (hopefully not Judah )...but I see both my #1 from the Alt RD and another song that would be my #1 if it got on the list ("call the police"), so I can definitely empathize.

On that note, two weeks left to submit! (Adding all of the newcomers in the Alt RD, as well as three other participants in the Arcade Fire RD to the taglist, as I think they might be interested in this list.)

They sound right at home here. There are a few AAA only charting, songs, with strong Alt vibes. Those will be my favorites, and I'm still not going to be very nice to Imagine Dragons. "Thunder" sounds horrid , no matter what format its on.

I submitted finally.
I suspect my Top 10 to do pretty well, but my #3 is the only one I think might not do as well as the rest. My #4 and #8 are two that I am rather iffy about for one specific reason, while my #7 might get tanked.
The Alt crossovers on this are a mixed bag. Most of the songs got tanked from my rankings in the Alt thread, but there are a select few that did much better on this list (my #16 and #56). My tank efforts are going to amaze some of you - there are two songs in particular that are completely different from my Alt rankings. If a song from Alt crossed over to here and it doesn't fit the format at all, I drowned it. I had no remorse for some of these, lol.
Both my #1 and my #100 from the Alt rankdown are in this rankdown, but both are not my #1 and #100 for this. I honestly only fully hate my bottom 3, while my #96 and #97 I just didn't care for. The other 95 songs I found at least some level of enjoyment in them.
I'm curious to see how I do in this. I had a pretty mixed bag of rankings throughout and I was fiddling with my rankings so much because I couldn't decide on what I wanted where.

It's that time again...time for another BALLOT UPDATE!
Our next Ballot Update stars Green Baron (he sent his list shortly before his ban), @carseatlegrest , and Blurry .
[/font][li] The song that was #1 at the beginning of the submission process returned to #1 with Green Baron 's list and has stayed there. It's leading by a considerable margin too - 40 points ahead of #2 as of now (which is only separated from #3 by one point).[/li][li] The top 52 currently hold 500 points. #1 is the only song with at least 900 points.[/li][li] The current highest SD is at #34, while the lowest (same song from the last Ballot Update) is at #83.[/li][li] The song that was #100 at the beginning of the submission process returned to #100 with @carseatlegrest 's list. It's currently behind #99 by quite a bit - 31 points.[/li][li] How's this for a mover - a song that was in the top 25 during the last Ballot Update (and top 10 at one point) is about to fall off of the top 50![/li][/ul] As always, let's end with Pulse's Favorite Part of the Ballot Update...
 Quite a few too...in fact, we begin with three consecutive two-way ties - at #19, #21, and #23. We have more ties at #29, #41, #43, #47, #50, #62 (a four-way tie!), #74, #81, and #90.

Definitely a more pleasant experience ranking this list than the Alt chart. More standouts, and the first song I dislike is all the way down at #64.

Just got my list in and ahhh it made me miss my favorite station in San Diego, the now defunct KPRI.
Anyway, rather strong year for the AAA format. You've got to go well into the 80s before I can truly say I don't like a song. And even then, its more a matter of "I wouldn't choose to listen to this song" than it is "I don't ever want to hear this song".
Needless to say, I can't wait for this rankdown to begin.
I submitted finally. Both my #1 and my #100 from the Alt rankdown are in this rankdown, but both are not my #1 and #100 for this. Same.

I've already received three more lists since yesterday...which means it's time for another BALLOT UPDATE!
Today's Ballot Update features lists from SHOOTER , singingrulebritannia , and Albie !
- The battle for #1 continues between the same two songs - Albie 's list changed the #1 back to what it was before Baron's list - although a third song has now joined the battle. #1 and #2 are separated by six points, and #2 and #3 are separated by two.
- With singingrulebritannia 's list, we had our first song to reach 1000 points. Three more songs passed that mark with Albie 's list. Meanwhile, the bottom 26 have not yet reached 500 points.
- The song with the highest SD continues changing - right now, the song with the highest SD is at #27. Meanwhile, the same song that has held the lowest SD in the last two Ballot Updates continues holding it, and it's currently at #89.
- With Albie 's list, a song that had been in the bottom 10 from the beginning of the submission process has escaped for the first time...and just barely, as it's tied in points with #91 (ultimately winning out due to having a higher maximum rank).
- As far as movers go, we have a song that has gone down by 24 ranks since the last Ballot Update. This song was in the top 10 at one point, and is now about to fall out of the top 40. Meanwhile, the big mover that I mentioned in the last Ballot Update fell out of the top 50 earlier between these two Ballot Updates, but has since rebounded.
- The margin between #99 and #100 continues increasing. They're currently separated by 42 points.
And as always, let's finish off with Pulse's Favorite Part of the Ballot Update...
We currently have ties at #21, #37, #59, #90 (as mentioned above), and #94.

Submitted my list. Glad I participated in this one, so many great first listens. I finally got into Father John Misty too - he's the closest thing we've had to Elton John (besides Elton John himself). A lot of this stuff has country and alternative vibes, so its no wonder I enjoyed many. My #1 should be pretty obvious to anybody who follows my postings. Hoping it does well here (and by well I mean #1).
