If you remove the Duet, Perfect would still be #1. It's like what happened with Despacito. The remix/duet helped the original version. Perfect was #5 before the Beyoncé version ~20k points below rockstar.

I’m not sure why people are so extra about needing Havana to go #1. It’s a B/B+ pop song by a nondescript singer. It’s not like it’s an “Into You” masterpiece being blocked. I think it's understandable that when any song is #2 for a long time people would want to see it get to #1. It's the same thing with a song that gets stuck at #11. It feels lame in a general sense, separate from whether or not you like the song.

Perfect was #5 before the Beyoncé version ~20k points below rockstar. Unlike "Despacito," though, the main version is the one getting most of the chart points. The regular version would be #1 without the points from the Beyonce version. In the case of "Despacito," it was the remix that was getting the large majority of chart points.

Perfect had a 10% lead over Havana. What I mean is: Billboard's rule is wrong. If any version of the song is getting points that are responsible for its peak position the alternative version's artist should be credited. It should be credited as Ed Sheeran & Beyoncé or Andrea Bocelli.

^I wonder if the credit for Perfect is at the request of the label?
There have certainly been instances where credits have been label-driven rather than being driven by the actual artists present on the record, such as Kesha being removed from billing on "Right Round" (apparently at her request) or Bebe Rexha being added on to "Hey Mama." Although in those cases it wasn't due to separate versions of the songs.
Frankly the more egregious credits over the years have pretty much all been driven by labels rather than Billboard, such as "Apologize" being billed as Timbaland featuring OneRepublic when it was really just a Timbaland remix of OneRepublic's song. Or all the weird cases of "producer artists" like Calvin Harris and Zedd who are sometimes listed as lead and sometimes listed as featured but it always seems like a political/marketing decision rather than any true reflection of creative ownership. Or cases where someone performs on a song and doesn't get credited at all, like Ina Wroldsen on "How Deep Is Your Love," who not only sang the track but co-wrote it too.
If you wanted to get super technical, it would be interesting if there was ever a version of the Hot 100 that was "recording"-specific as opposed to "song"-specific, kind of like the Digital Tracks vs. Digital Songs charts (I don't even know if Digital Tracks still exists though).

Ed and Bruno should team up on a song together. It would be this generation's "One Sweet Day" and break ALL the records. I think Ed, Bruno and Taylor on one song could sound amazing

Old Taylor would probably do a ballad with Ed and Bruno a la When I Was Your Man. But she's dead apparently. New Taylor would do something more 24K Magic.

It should be credited as Ed Sheeran & Beyoncé or Andrea Bocelli. I take the opposite approach. I think the version reflected for that particular week on Billboard should be the version that is contributing the most points. If that happens to fluctuate from week to week then so be it. It seems more accurate that way and better describes historically what was really happening during that chart period.

Is “Shape of You”’s rebound owed to EOY countdowns? Insane to see it at #13 at the one-year mark.
