I'm sure I'm a bigger John Anderson fan than most on here. At least it's not a top 10 loss I guess. Be thankful for the small things, ha.

I don't think they'll go anytime soon. "When It Comes To You" is a classic example of a mediocre song that you would for some reason like a whole lot more than everybody else

OMG I just looked up John Anderson's discography, and noticed that "Hillbilly Hollywood" was not a single... All my life I have thought that was one of his biggest hits!!!!!

92. Mark Chesnutt - Broken Promise LandBillboard Hot Country Songs Peak: 10 (peak date: January 25, 1992) American Country Countdown Year-End Position: 96 Total Points: 1107 Average Rank: 69.1875 Standard Deviation: 23.34157593 BackwoodsBarbie - 11 tim - 29 CoJoFan - 42 Glove Slap - 59 kw9461 - 69 LBTrocks - 69 bboat11 - 72 George Strait Junkie - 75 .indulgecountry - 79 castleoblivion26 - 80 sabre14 - 81 Kanenrá:ke - 81 someguy - 86 mamasaid - 87 rgreen0625 - 91 Cody Wants Out... - 96 Following: fearlessarrow
There was no actual need to listen to "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" because cheating on your lover, one of the hottest topics of country songs, takes a toll on your conscious and sends you to a place "where the streets are paved with misery/ and lives are built on lies" known as "the broken promise land". A second dosage of fuel to BackwoodsBarbie 's fire is heading her way as she has a near top-10 loss with this elimination, along with a top 30 elimination for tim (now you get to feel my pain!). In all honesty, this song never really clicked with me until well after I got all these submissions. I still think it's a weak offering from him, but I would've ranked this a little bit higher if I had to do this all over again.

I like the instrumentation. The melody doesn't do much for me though. And I hate the sound of Garth's voice. lol

Y'all are crazy, that Chris Ledoux song is great. The instrumentation is superb, led by that delightful fiddle, and the melody really works for me. It's just a good, fun song. I thought I might lose 2 top 20's relatively early, but this isn't one I expected.
Nothing else has been super surprising though - I didn't think Tritt or Chesnutt would lose one this early, but it's each artists' weakest offering so no biggie.

I think Garth brought Chris down here honestly. It's in my bottom half but I do like it.
So glad my top half has mostly gone unscathed in the bottom 12!

Oh yeah that's right; I have today off! Let's go ahead and start things off with a TIE! #90 has zero, that's right zero, top 40 ranks while #89 has FOUR of them, including a top 15!

Here's another nod to one of our 80s ladies of country, plus a clue for the winner of this tiebreaker (I may have already said too much )

"Lovin' All Night" is a great song, but Patty did it WAY better! That said... the chorus is a total earworm! I can't resist it. So catchy.

Broken Promise Land is one of my favourite discoveries in this rankdown. Glad you liked this one! I had predicted this would be in the bottom ten and didn't think it would do well with Pulse. I've long been a fan of Mark Chesnutt's early 90's material and was always surprised they not only went with a fifth single from Too Cold at Home, but that they went with this song. There's no disguising this one...it's an effing sad song about cheating on your significant other.

Coming up next at #87 is our first song that does not appear on either year-end chart at all. Which of these three are leaving us first?
Little Texas - "First Time For Everything" Vince Gill - "Look at Us" Patty Loveless - "Jealous Bone"

Going with Pulse's favorite country artist Vince Gill 87. Little Texas - First Time for EverythingTotal Points: 1076 Average Rank: 67.25 Standard Deviation: 21.09818318 ( 15th lowest!) Cody Wants Out... - 59 tim - 59 Huh...I'm actually surprised to see this one out so soon. I've seen Little Texas live a few times and they always put on a great show (this was back in the mid 90's). I see you and I pretty much had the same opinion with this song lol.

Last one for the night is one of my favorite discoveries for this rankdown and my heart sank closer to the center of the Earth each time I saw a bottom half ranking coming in. I almost put this in my top 20 y'all! :'( Luckily, a few more top 40s, including a top 10, helped me feel better...until I saw where it ended up at once I closed submissions. Very disappointed in you guys; very disappointed. P.S. Help me get to the next page please.

"First Time For Everything" is a great song and deserved to do much better
"Look At Us" is also a great song and should not go out any time soon, same with "Jealous Bone"
