BS Upside down artwork > right side up artwork I don't think it looks right when she is right side up. So I completely agree.

BS Upside down artwork > right side up artwork I loved the whole aesthetic of the album and booklet cover art. Her eyes are absolutely gorgeous.

I love that the Bedtime Stories cd case came in a powder blue tray. Feels so unique. One of the few cd cases that I definitely want to keep in my posessions!

I love the color scheme of BS. And in total agreement about the blue tray. Over the years it's become one of my favorite Madonna albums, probably second only to Erotica.

I was going through my mega Madonna playlist the other day while working and it really cemented Ray of Light, affected vocals and all, as her overall best body of work - bold, spiritual, and with dynamic production. A masterpiece.

Skin really captures the essence of the late 90's rave sound so perfectly. Takes me right back to rolling in a warehouse in my Jnko jeans.

A masterpiece. Yes a masterpiece. Sky Fits Heaven is a standout in a brilliant track list.

Rarity, by affected vocals, do you mean the airy/haunting quality at times? I'm thinking "The Power of Good-Bye," for instance. The vocals on the album are very "warm" in general, which is what she wanted to show, that that kind of music could have warmth. And she succeeded quite wonderfully at that. :)
"Sky Fits Heaven" is one of her best tracks, period. And I love the Drowned World Tour performance/presentation, as abridged as it is.

I've always loved it, but I have been listening to "Time Stood Still" a lot lately. Such a beautiful song, and she sounds great. It also fits in perfectly in my Chill-out/downtempo playlist.

Yes, it is a fantastic soundtrack (I especially love "This Life"). The Xtina song sticks out like a sore thumb and is bad, it's quite perplexing actually.

No. I was referring to how she took voice lessons to prepare for Evita and brought that kind of diction and technique to her vocals on the album.

You know I love to revisit past Madonna looks. I tend to go back to her True Blue / Who's That Girl era look. That era was such a hit or miss for me in terms of her fashion choices and hair. The main thing that I felt about this era is that it rarely felt like she was wearing "fashion" It always felt like she was in "costume." Nothing she wore during the time felt like it was a natural look. It always felt like she was playing a character. Prior to this era, her punk / lace look felt like it was just naturally her and how she would dress to go out with friends. Even post-True Blue, when she started dressing a bit more couture / high-fashion, she still mixed and matched stuff that felt like her natural style. Jeans with a leather jacket, a suit, etc. True Blue always felt like she went to a vintage store and bought every 1950s dress, corset, etc. and spent hours styling her hair in a way she thought captured that era. But rarely did it look effortless and stylish, more like it was curated, planned, and costume designed. That being said, she did a beautiful photo shoot with Life magazine that appeared in December 1986. A lot of it was an homage to Marilyn Monroe. Her hair had a definite 50's look to it, but it didn't look cropped too short or just this huge cotton candy ball. It was very stylish, she looked sexy / chic, and soft / feminine. If she had kept her hair more like this during the era, I thought it would have been more flattering. Clearly a photo shoot is curated and planned out, but for some reason, here she did not look like she was in costume or forcing anything.

I still remember finding the magazine at the bookstore and couldnΒ΄t believe my eyes!! It was an import mag of course since I was still living in Peru so it was not cheap and for the 14 year old guy I was it wasn't easy to pay for it right away, but I somehow managed. That mag was a TREASURE for me. I still have it. ; )

Rarity- gotcha. :)
MX- thanks for posting those. I don't think I had seen all of those Life pics. Good stuff. The resemblance among most, if not, all of the siblings is somethin'.

Those days of the early 90s were SO ICONIC for magazine covers with especially Vanity Fair and Vogue.
