They released a preview clip of American Life from Madame X. I had forgotten how much she slowed it down during the show. Take a gander.

these numbers should be triple what they are now. Not with fans stuck in the 80's.

Looks like Warner Bros are distributing new product, along with her catalog.
I looked at the credits for the live Madame X album and the label is listed as:
"2021 Boy Toy Inc. under exclusive license to Warner Records LLC"
I don't really expect this chart of the Billboard 200...or if it does, it will be a squeaker.
Here is how her live albums have done on the chart:
1) "I'm Going To Tell You A Secret" #33 (85k copies total sold US)
2) "The Confessions Tour" #15 (148K copies total sold US)
3) "Sticky & Sweet Tour" #10 (65K copies total sold US)
4) "MDNA World Tour" #90 (18K copies total sold US)
5) "Rebel Heart Tour: didn't chart
I think IGTTYAS would have done better if it was actually named after the Re-invention Tour as opposed to the documentary. There was not a lot of name recognition to it. Especially for the fact that the documentary was not a theatrical release and finally found a home at 10pm on MTV. While I LOVE the tour, the documentary was a bit of a chore at times. It was so filled with Kaballah and preachiness about life. It only came to life for me when it focused on putting the tour together and showed her interacting with her kids as a mom.

Doesn't take much to chart these days so if enough fans stream and download the album, it could chart.
I don't remember if Rebel Heart was released to streaming and physical/download at the same time?

For the last few album cycles, I have been changing my screen name to the name of her albums. Now that Madame X cycle is coming to an end, I need to change my screen name. I think it will be changed to something that has to be permanent. I don't want folks being confused and wondering who the hell I am hahaha.
I will probably go back to my original screen name of CandyGalore...in case you get confused and see that name. ;)

I am listening to the Madame X Tour album right now. Fun to revisit and oddly enough, I am enjoying the concert in a re-listen than I did when I went to it. Nothing to do with her performance, as she was pretty fabulous, it is just that this was not one of my favorite albums initially. It has grown on me over time. Sound on the live recording is crisp and captured well.
I would say the only thing that is odd, is that it is almost TOO crisp and clear. It has been cleaned up so much that some of it sounds almost exactly like the studio recording. I know we have mentioned in the past that they go back and clean up her vocals a lot. While she sounds great, it makes it sound less like a live recording. For example, Medellin is pretty indistinguishable from the studio.
Fun fact, I saw the show in Brooklyn. Luckily the night I went, Maluma was there and was seated about 20 feet away from me. He was ushered in and the crowd went insane. It was funny, the second Medellin started the entire crowd went nuts and turned toward Maluma. I guess they were expecting him to go up on stage or join her in some way. He did not. He stood up and danced at his seat and looked like he was having a blast, but didn't sing and she didn't acknowledge from stage that he was there. And yes, in person, the man is FINE AF.

I doubt the live set will chart on the Billboard 200; RH Tour, sales which mostly came from the Blu-Ray/CD combo, did peak at No. 45 on Top Album Sales (almost 4,000 in the first week). Without a physical component, the MX live album will struggle to chart, though if it was able to sell 1,000-plus or so, that could put it close to the bottom of Top Album Sales.
She looked good on Tonight Show; much better than that pic she posted on Instagram. I totally think she's trolling when she posts some photos on social media. That Kid Theater was a waste of airtime, though the interview was fun.
That Apollo thing is supposed to be tonight. Hasn't really been advertised.

I am about halfway thru the concert on Paramount. It is really well done and I am actually enjoying it more than when I originally saw it.
A few observations.
1) While this is portrayed as being the Lisbon show, it is clearly multiple shows edited together. Whether they are all Lisbon I cannot say. There are inconsistencies with her wigs, the eye patch, in the middle of a song she is clearly wearing a wig and then suddenly she has her natural hair and then it's a wig again. But this is true of most of her concert films starting with The Who's That Girl Tour. That show was portrayed as being in Turin, Italy but it was a mix of Turin, Milan, and Tokyo.
2)You can tell where the newly filmed stuff is inserted. It is artfully done in black and white and it is not like they are trying to pass it off as if it is live within the show. The first instance of this is in I Don't Search I Find. Not distracting at all and it is sort of a cut away to a filmed scene of her performing it on stage, but it is quiet and black and white, etc.
3)They rearranged the order of some of the multimedia films and there is a great opening montage that was not part of the original concert.
I won't reveal anymore, but I am really enjoying it and it is well put together.

MX- there was a Facebook post about the Apollo, encouraging people to post why they should be there. So, who knows. If the live album were to sell 2,000-plus, that would put it higher up on Top Album Sales. Gotta beat that No. 90 MDNA Tour peak. Incidentally, that MDNA Tour release was another mess. Manufacture-on-demand CD, no video/CD combo, etc.

Review: ‘Madame X’ concert film is a great way to get back into Madonna If you haven’t been paying attention to Madonna lately, “Madame X” — her concert film shot in early 2020, streaming on Paramount Plus starting Friday, Oct. 8 — is a great way to get reacquainted. It’s a good show, and one measure of it is that it makes you want to revisit previous Madonna shows afterward, either to re-experience them or to see what you’ve been missing. Madonna has been in public life for almost 40 years, and from the mid-1980s through the early 1990s, she was arguably the biggest star in the world — bigger than movie stars, bigger than other musicians. She has a huge history, and based on that, she could choose to be nostalgic. Instead, she reimagines herself for each tour and keeps coming up with new ideas. You don’t have to be in love with every aspect of her “Madame X” show — you might prefer her to sing “Borderline” and “Into the Groove” and “Causing a Commotion.” You might prefer a show in which she plays all the hits from “Holiday” (1983) through “Hung Up” (2005). Even so, you have to appreciate a pop star in her 60s who refuses to rest on her laurels and who never stops challenging herself and her audience. Although she brought the show to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Theatre in November 2019, the concert we see in “Madame X” took place in Lisbon in January 2020, where Madonna lived at the time. It’s heavy on songs from the album of the same name, the concept behind which is some vague portrait of a female spy, who is also a professor, a nun, a prostitute and several other things. Madame X wears an eye patch, apparently as a style accessory, though at first you might wonder whether Madonna is recovering from cataract surgery. (She was 61 at the time of filming, so that wouldn’t be unheard of.) The “Madame X” album is wonderfully loony, which benefits the show. The song “Dark Ballet,” for example, goes into a synthesized arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s “Dance of the Reed-Flutes,” over which Madonna portentously intones about revolution, love and loneliness. Everything is almost tongue-in-cheek, but not quite. The tonal ambiguity seems intentional, and the spy angle allows for tableaux of forced interrogation and international intrigue, as well as for the occasional political comment. The audience banter is also a highlight. A feature of the “Madame X” tour is that Madonna at one point sits in the audience and talks to one of the fans. For this show, the fan happens to be comedian Dave Chappelle, who tells everyone about his friendship with the singer and about the Madonna poster he had in his room growing up. In a mix of the high-minded and low-minded that’s typical of Madonna, she takes a few Polaroids of herself on stage, in order to auction them for the poor in Malawi. She puts one of the Polaroids between her legs. “This is my pussy. Let’s see if it develops faster,” she says. After someone wins the auction, she tells the winning bidder, “Just empty your f—ing wallet.” A moment later, another one of her male fans offers to give an additional $5,000 if she’ll take a Polaroid with him. “You got some balls on you, baby,” she replies. Perhaps not everyone will find that banter charming, but I’m delighted to have this woman in my generation. As a singer, Madonna has never sounded better. Of the older material, she sings “Vogue” and “Like a Prayer,” two songs she seems to favor, because she does them often. Here she also does a beautiful rendition of “Frozen” from the 1998 “Ray of Light” album. Curiously, the old songs, sung from within the “Madame X” context and placed among Portuguese folk songs and whatever else Madonna currently fancies, don’t seem nostalgic but infused with extra meaning. They seem part of some larger emotional narrative. How does this compare with other Madonna shows? They’ll never again be anything like her 2006 “Confessions Tour,” but Madonna doesn’t need to compete with herself. In a sense, she’s competing across time with other people of the same stature at a similar stage. For example, what was Frank Sinatra doing in his early 60s? He was singing well, but it was the same songs and the same tuxedo until the end. By contrast, Madonna is walking a high wire without a net, each time risking making a fool of herself, each time risking falling on her face and not once doing either of those things. If you ever liked Madonna, this concert film will remind why you weren’t wrong. “Madame X” is somewhere between a success and a triumph. datebook.sfchronicle.com/movies-tv/review-madame-x-concert-film-is-a-great-way-to-get-back-into-madonna

I finished the film and really enjoyed it. Did I enjoy it as much as her prior tours, no...but that is kind of an unfair comparison as it is just a very different kind of album and stage show. There were some exquisite moments in the show for sure. There were also some numbers that I just didn't enjoy live and I didn't enjoy in the film. But it is just personal taste as opposed to her not being a good performer. I don't think anyone could ever say she is not inventive or puts on a boring show.
One thing that was apparent for sure is that there is a lot of dancing in the show, just not done by her. She does some, but not much in comparison to prior work. This could be due in part to the fact that she was in excruciating pain with her injury and she probably was already feeling it when they were putting the show together. So she toned it down.
I would give this concert film a B. It was a pleasure to watch again and I grew some appreciation for some of the songs on Madame X that I had sort of brushed aside (Crazy and Come Alive for example.) If she had mixed in some more of well known hits, I think it would have given the show more life, but this was a Madame X show and by golly, we were going to get Madame X :)

Excellent, excellent show. The Frozen performance was even more breathtaking to watch on screen than it was in person. The Batuka and Come Alive performances also felt touching.
Other favorite performances: God Control, American Life, I Don't Search I Find, Vogue, Medellin, Crazy, and I Rise.
The Polaroid bits were humorous. Loved the use of past footage for the montages and the social current event footages throughout parts of the show too.
Is it safe to say the audience footage was a mixture of the US and European shows even though the majority of the stage footage was Lisbon?
Loved to see Stella, Esther, and Mercy included in the broadcast too.
The cinematography, editing, Sound editing, and sound mixing were also great. Hope this gets some Emmys attention next year.

As of right now, the Madame X concert album is geo-restricted on Spotify. Last night it was working for a while and then some of the songs stopped, and then now none of them are available. I wonder what happened.
