Pollstar has several Madonna articles, in "Celebration" of her. So many articles giving her hr due; not that she hasn't received it up to now, of course, but just great to see at this point in her career. And on top of delivering a great show, she looked incredible. Wins all around.

So a few days back there were rumors that she was going to film the video for Faz Gostoso con Anitta after her show there in Brazil. I wonder if that was true. Did you guys hear anything else about it?

Did you guys hear anything else about it? This is the first I've heard of it, but as that is my second favorite song on Madame X (after "Crazy"), I would LIVE if that actually happens.

Let's do a little trivia fun. What Madonna single sampled this song? She has sampled many songs, but lets start here. Don't cheat, just listen to the song. www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUWaCgpwBxM

Also, I made a playlist of all the Madonna songs to be released as singles in the U.S. that missed the top 10. Love these songs but wanted another random grouping of her songs :)

Here is a really good article from the NY Times about the trajectory of Taylor Swift's career and where she stands against the most successful pop acts of all time. There is a nice section about Madonna and compares how quickly they each achieved their top 10s, #1's etc. Also compares her against achievements of the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Britney, etc. Where she stands 40+ years into her career is anyone's guess. Great read. How big is Taylor Swift?

Kelly Clarkson has always talked about how she is a huge Madonna fan. She even sang Express Yourself at her American Idol audition.
Here are all the times she sang Madonna during Kelyoke on her talk show.

A little chart statistics on Madonnas performance on the club chart. Total #1s: 50 Total Top 10's: 64 Total Chart Hits: 67 Pretty staggering to think that of all the songs she has charted on the club chart, only 3 did not make the top 10. They were Who's That Girl (#44), Sky Fits Heaven (#41), and Love Don't Live Here Anymore (#16). www.billboard.com/artist/madonna/chart-history/dsi/

Sky fire heaven is one of my top favorite album tracks —at least in the dance charts it should have peaked higher

Surprised Ray Of Light not listed. PASTE www.pastemagazine.com/music/greatest-albums/the-300-greatest-albums-of-all-time-2The 300 Greatest Albums of All Time For nearly 70 years, recorded music’s canon has breathed life into every corner of humanity. By Paste Staff June 3, 2024 147. Madonna: Erotica (1992) The answer to the question of what Madonna’s second-best album is normally points at the usual suspects: Like a Virginor Ray of Light. But, it’s her fifth LP that sticks around better. Erotica is clubby, sexy and ambitious—as the Queen of Pop adopts a dominatrix alter-ego named Dita on “Erotica” and tackles everything from oral sex (“Where Life Begins”) to LGBTQIA+ anthems (“Deeper and Deeper”) to the AIDS Crisis (“In This Life”). It’s one of her most vulnerable records, gilded with a liberated polish of sex, reinvention and radicalized pop superstardom. Making Erotica at the height of her powers was a risk for Madonna; no one was surprised when she landed feet first in an ocean of sensual, sexual and pleasurable enlightenment. 71. Madonna: Like a Prayer (1989) By 1989, Madonna had spent half the decade with one foot in the door of superstardom and the other in that of provocation; she showed no sign of slowing down. If anything, she ramped up the provocation for her fourth album, Like a Prayer. Hits like the title track, “Oh Father” and “Keep It Together” dealt nakedly with conflicts of faith and family with a level of artfulness that facilitated a pivot from star-of-the-moment to a more timeless, statement-making artist. How “Like a Prayer” dabbles in double entendre with a vivacious gospel choir’s backing is thrilling (or mortifying, depending on your faith) for anyone who’s wrestled with desire, gender and power. Few pop stars have pivoted successfully toward this kind of prestige pop, but Madonna’s revolution of both mass pop stardom and pop’s prestigious potential makes her, and Like a Prayer, essential for understanding today’s pop music landscape.

Juanca- "Sky Fits Heaven" was not promoted to U.S. clubs; it charted as an import. Thus, charting there at all was a feat. :)
That Paste albums list is interesting in spots.

So there is speculation on Reddit that the re-issue campaign has pretty much been abandoned as we are three years in and all we have gotten is Finally Enough Love. There was also legit talk of her team reaching out to fans for copies of some of her music because some of it was lost when she left warners.
All sounds sketchy and somewhat disappointing. Anyone know anything?

I feel like we don't have many industry insiders left on this board, so who knows?
It may not be that dire, I could see Madonna getting bored with a reissue campaign very quickly and thus it losing momentum.

I’d like to see a Re-discover campaign of sorts for Madonna. She has so many major hits, and even more hits that aren’t at the forefront that often get pushed back because of her primary ones. These are where my favourites are and I think there is opportunity for her to focus on these in some way as part of her legacy focus.

I can't believe "Ain't No Big Deal" was supposed to be her first single. Certainly lackluster compared to "Everybody." It definitely sounds like album filler that even pales in comparison to songs like "I Know It" and "Think of Me." Though I happen to really like Think of Me

I remember having the studio version on the flip side of the 12" of True Blue way back in 1986 when I was a wee 16 year old gay.
