^Some of those I'd be interested in, too. :)
The Virgin Tour omissions could have been time-dictated- they were on par with some of the other performances, so not sure how they could have viewed them any differently. "Borderline" wasn't even the whole song.
As far as I know, she has not met Damita Jo- even when they were both at the VMAs following Michael J.'s passing. Not sure about Mimi- I think Guy O. told a story in a Vanity Fair article where an unnamed female act went up to her at a party boasting about how many albums she sold in that week, and then asked M how many hers sold. No mention was ever made about who it was. Other than that rumor, neither has talked about meeting the other.

Those questions are quite intersting, LOL. That one about Guy's circumcision... Mariah Carey was asked about Madge on WWHL; she said they never met, never had a converstation.

There are some fuzzy paparazzi pictures of Guy naked at the beach putting on a towel. The man is blessed. Can’t tell about snippage though.

MX- I don't know, Celine doesn't seem like the kind of person to "taunt," if you will (which is the way that incident sounded). Mimi's very into charts/sales and all, though as she and M apparently have never met, who else could it be?

Interested about most of those questions!!! Some more I’d add: - why was Bedtime Story her first album with no clear Latin influence since True Blue? - did you put that purple dildo into Guy? - what did you think of She’s so Unusual? - is it true that there were discussions about a duet with Barbra Streisand around 1992? - why you’ve never been to Peru?!! (lots of talks about her doing a concert and never happened!) - do you prefer singing in Spanish or Portuguese? - what did you think when Lauryn Hill beat you at the Grammy’s? - in retrospect, do you think it was a good move to release that shitty American Life flag video to replace the original one?

OMG I had forgotten about the indeed shitty flag video!! 😄 I wonder if she had any involvement at all. Maybe it was the label desperate to do something so the full project won’t fall to pieces. I mean it was the follow up to Music! And for sure things didn’t go the way the Like A Prayer controversy did. It seems the images of her singing were anyway the one of the original video and they changed the background to flags.

I have NEVER seen a picture of Madonna and Cyndi together. Unbelievable. Cyndi has always been I think very respectful of Madonna’s work. Don’t remember ever seeing or reading Madonna’s opinion on Cyndi. I did read a few years back that they met I think at a theatre for something one of them did. Now M’s opinion on She’s So Unusual... hard to say but it would be a great question of now!

Juanca, I had never thought about Bedtime not having any Latin influence. 🤔. Sure?? I can’t think of one yet. Erotica did? Of course True, Prayer and Breathless did. Can’t recall Virgin and the first album did unless I count Holiday as Latin influenced? What’s interesting is that isn’t the bedtime era the one during which she was living in Miami of all Latin places??

Well the Take A Bow video had a big Latin influence, so kind of brought a bit home to Bedtime Stories.
I'm playing around on Spotify....forgot or never knew that Samantha Fox did a cover of La Isla Bonita!!!

The flamenco guitar on Deeper and Deeper :) And the castanets And the Spanish guitar That whole bridge was practically flamenco dance music, so I felt the Latin connection :) Also, Who’s that girl had the title track :) Holiday itself had quite a Latin flavor, but yeah not fully developed Virgin didn’t have Latin influence.

My Madonna song of the day is Causing A Commotion. Such a great song, i do think it's underrated. Anyone agrees?

^It's a fun bop- shades of "Into the Groove," though not as orgasmic.

It reached the top of my personal chart! I remember noticing there were two similar but different versions (maybe a single and album version?). I managed to catch a 12” version in one of those nights trying to record songs without interruptions for mixtapes. Loved it! It was one of my favorite dance songs from her at the time.

Yes, the single and album version differed slightly. I am not sure why this edit was made, but it is in the line "Some day, you'll see my point of view." There is also that additional "sparkly sound" in the opening bars of the single version. In the album version, she syncopates the line slightly. In the single version, she sings it more smoothly and goes up a half-step on the word "view." It is very subtle. Album version: Single version:

Talking about dance versions. Juanca, remember the vinyl they released in Peru with dance mixes? (best pic I could find online that would allow me to post here....) I was in LOVE with the sounds added to the Material Girl remix!! I don't think 12" vinyl singles were sold in Lima. Those were special import kind of stuff. Or from the store that will do mixed tapes for you. I remember I loved going to those places! They had all the vinyl albums and singles originals from the U.S.!! And then later when the You Can Dance album came out, I couldn't believe my ears with what they did with Over And Over and Into The Groove. It was OUT OF THIS WORLD for me!

Speaking of "Causing a Commotion" I found my 12" single that I bought back in 1987 when I was 17. It still plays pretty well, with very minor static and a skip here and there. Attachment DeletedSide A:Causing a Commotion (Silver Screen Mix) Causing a Commotion (Dub) Side B:Causing a Commotion (Movie House Mix) Jimmy, Jimmy (LP Version) By far, her best 12" from this era was "Open Your Heart" the rest of her songs were basically extended versions of the song with a little enhanced bassline here and there. OYH was really reconstructed into a great dance song. True Blue was also reconstructed, but I never really liked the song.

^I like "The Color Mix." :) How many M songs are as sweet and pure-pop sugar as TB and "Cherish"?

I don't hate it, but I don't seek it out. Cherish is very hot or cold for me. Both those songs are just overly saccharine for my tastes..but this is Madonna, so of course I listen :)
