www.billboard.com/biz/articles/8095282/camila-cabello-debuts-at-no-1-on-billboard-200-albums-chartCamila Cabello Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Albums ChartBy Keith Caulfield | January 21, 2018 4:59 PM EST She's the first woman to bow at No. 1 with a debut full-length album in three years. Camila Cabello debuts atop the Billboard 200 chart with her first solo effort, Camila, earning 119,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Jan. 18, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 65,000 were in traditional album sales. Cabello is the first woman in three years to hit No. 1 with her debut full-length album. Camila was released on January 12 through SYCO/Epic Records. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Jan. 27-dated chart (where Camila debuts at No. 1) will be posted in full on Billboard’s websites on Tuesday, Jan. 23. Camila’s launch of 119,000 is larger than expected, as some industry forecasters projected the set would begin with around 90,000 units, and was in a race for No. 1 with the soundtrack to The Greatest Showman. As it turns out, The Greatest Showman — which had spent the past two weeks at No. 1 — falls to No. 2 with 104,000 units (increasing by 1 percent compared to the previous week). The Greatest Showman actually beats Camila in traditional album sales (70,000 vs. 65,000) and is the top-selling album of the week. Camila was able to come out on top on the Billboard 200 over The Greatest Showman thanks to TEA units and SEA units. Camila earned 16,000 TEA units (vs. 8,000 for Showman) and 38,000 SEA units (vs. 26,000 for Showman). Cabello is the first woman to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with her debut full-length album in three years – since Meghan Trainor’s Title (also on Epic) opened atop the list dated Jan. 31, 2015. (Trainor had a previous EP, also named Title, which reached No. 15.) If we count all initial chart appearances by women (including EPs), Cabello is the first woman to top the list with her first overall charting effort since Ariana Grande bowed at No. 1 with her first full-length album — and chart debut — Yours Truly on Sept. 21, 2013. Cabello also joins an exclusive club of female performers who initially reached the Billboard 200 as part of a group, and then later hit No. 1 with a solo album. Cabello was formerly a member of the all-female vocal group Fifth Harmony, which claimed three top 10s while Cabello was in the group. Cabello departed Fifth Harmony in December of 2016. Cabello follows Gwen Stefani (No Doubt), Beyoncé and LeToya (both of Destiny’s Child), Lauryn Hill (Fugees), Patti LaBelle (Labelle), Stevie Nicks (Fleetwood Mac), Linda Ronstadt (The Stone Poneys), Diana Ross (The Supremes) and Janis Joplin (Big Brother and the Holding Company). In addition, as Cabello is just 20 years and 10 months old, she is the youngest person to debut at No. 1 with their first full-length album since 2015, when a 16-year-old Shawn Mendes opened at No. 1 with Handwritten on the May 2, 2015-dated chart. Cabello is the youngest woman to bow at No. 1 with her first full-length set since 2013, when Ariana Grande (then 20 years and two months old) debuted at No. 1 with Yours Truly (Sept. 21, 2013). At No. 3 on the new Billboard 200, Ed Sheeran’s ÷ (Divide) slips one rung (47,000 units; down 10 percent). Post Malone’s Stoney climbs 5-4 (35,000 units; down 5 percent) and Taylor Swift’s Reputation is up 6-5 (just over 33,000 units; down 9 percent). G-Eazy’s The Beautiful & Damned falls 3-6 (33,000 units; down 12 percent), Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. ascends 8-7 (30,000 units; down 15 percent), Eminem’s Revival slips 7-8 (29,000 units; down 20 percent) and Lil Uzi Vert’s Luv Is Rage 2 hops 11-9 (28,000; down 4 percent). Rapper Lil Skies is a new visitor to the top 10, as his album Life of a Dark Rose jumps 23-10 with 28,000 units (up 65 percent) in its second chart week. Powered largely by streams, the set collected 25,000 in SEA units, equaling 37 million on-demand audio streams for its songs during the tracking week. Songs leading the streaming charge for the album include “Nowadays” and “Red Roses,” both featuring Landon Cube, “Lust” and “Welcome to the Rodeo.” Both “Nowadays” and “Red Roses” ranked within the top 40 of the most recently announced Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart (dated Jan. 20).

Great to see Camila's numbers continued to trend up right until the last minute. The album should have some decent longevity with "Havanna" doing so well still and "Never Be The Same" now taking off.

In the end, good material will sell. Both Camila and 5H were struggling at the start of their eras, but only Camila managed to turn around things.
I was rooting against her the whole time, but Havana won me over and there are some great songs in her album, while the latest 5H effort was pretty lackluster (save for poor underrated He Like That).

Thank you, the movie still has some box office life left on it. Hopefully the OST will be like Moana that will have strong legs and is over 900K in pure sales now
Oscar nomination and performance for This is Me would help things as well

www.yahoo.com/entertainment/chart-watch-needs-fifth-harmony-camila-cabello-debuts-no-1-194924563.htmlChart Watch: Who needs Fifth Harmony? Camila Cabello debuts at No. 1by Paul Grein Yahoo Music January 22, 2018 Top AlbumsThe Greatest Showman dips to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 after spending two weeks at No. 1. It outsold Cabello’s album in traditional album sales (70K to 65K), but fell behind its rival when digital track sales and streaming data were factored in. This is the first time in nearly five months that the week’s best-selling album hasn’t ranked No. 1 on the Billboard 200. This last happened in August when Lil Uzi Vert’s Luv Is Rage 2 ranked first on the multi-metric chart, even though Queens of the Stone Age’s Villains outsold it in traditional album sales. This is the third time that a soundtrack has been the week’s best-seller in traditional album sales but has been denied the No. 1 spot. Moana and La La Land also experienced this fate. (Both soundtracks lost out to the Weekend’s Starboy when all factors were considered.) The Greatest Showman logs its fourth week at No. 1 on Top Soundtracks. It spends its second week at No. 1 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart. It’s the first soundtrack to spend multiple weeks at No. 1 in both the U.S. and the U.K. since Titanic in 1998. It’s the first soundtrack from a musical to spend multiple weeks at No. 1 in both countries since Grease in 1978. Ed Sheeran’s ÷ dips from No. 2 to No. 3 in its 46th week. The album spent its first two weeks at No. 1. Post Malone’s Stoney inches up from No. 5 to No. 4 in its 58th week. This equals its highest ranking to date. Taylor Swift’s Reputation inches up from No. 6 to No. 5 in its 10th week. It spent four weeks at No. 1. G-Eazy’s The Beautiful & Damned drops from its No. 3 peak to No. 6 in its fifth week. Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN inches up from No. 8 to No. 7 in its 40th week. The album spent four weeks at No. 1. Eminem’s Revival dips from No. 7 to No. 8 in its fifth week. The album debuted at No. 1. Lil Uzi Vert’s Luv Is Rage 2 rebounds from No. 11 to No. 9 in its 21st week. The album debuted at No. 1. Rapper Lil Skies lands his first top 10 album as Life of a Dark Rose leaps from No. 23 to No. 10 in its second week. Three albums drop out of the top 10 this week. Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic drops from No. 4 to No. 11. Huncho Jack’s Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho drops from No. 9 to No. 12. Sam Smith’s The Thrill of It All drops from No. 10 to No. 17. Black Veil Brides land their fourth consecutive top 20 album as Vale debuts at No. 14. The Cranberries’ Stars: The Best Of 1992-2002 debuts at No.16 in the wake of the death last week of lead singer Dolores O’Riordan. It’s the group’s fifth top 20 album. This is the first time the 2002 compilation has charted, though it has sold 538K copies in traditional album sales, which shows how catalog albums can sell steadily over time. The album enters Top Catalog Albums at No. 1, displacing Ed Sheeran’s x. This is the fourth time in the past eight months that an album by a group has topped the catalog chart in the wake of the death of a key group member. It follows (working backwards chronologically) Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ Greatest Hits (Tom Petty), Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory (Chester Bennington), and Soundgarden’sSuperunknown (Chris Cornell). Diana Ross’s Diamond Diana: The Legacy Collection debuts at No. 30. This gives Ross a more than 53-year span of top 30 albums. She first cracked the top 30 in the fall of 1964 with the Supremes’ Where Did Our Love Go. Kane Brown’s Kane Brown drops from No. 27 to No. 31 in its 59th week. The album peaked at No. 5. The album holds at No. 1 on Top Country Albums for a fifth week. That’s the longest hold on the top spot for a debut album since Chris Stapleton’s solo debut album Traveller logged 29 weeks at No. 1 from 2015 to 2017. Coming Attractions: Fall Out Boy’s MANIA is on track to debut at No. 1 next week. Also due: LANCO’s Hallelujah Nights and the Shins’ The Worms Heart.

^The total this week improved from last week and at least 1 more album managed more than 10k in pure sales. Hopefully, last week will be the low for the year.

And Justin Timberlake will save the day in a few weeks.
What are we thinking? 400k SPS?

The singles are not setting the charts on fire so I'd think similar to Eminem's latest album, but he does have the Super Bowl so 400k is doable.

The singles are not setting the charts on fire so I'd think similar to Eminem's latest album, but he does have the Super Bowl so 400k is doable. I can see the initial prediction being under/around 200k, but then the Superbowl giving it a real boost over the week. If there's no out and out big hit on the album, the way they're rolling it out (4 videos fast with the album drop a month after the first on the week of the SB) is one of the better strategies they could have implemented. Certainly better than having the first song bow out early and then a gap.

In the retailer reports, what does the last number in each row refer to, the one with 11 digits?

Now to think of it, it might have been better for JT to release just with Filthy as Supplies has really killed his momentum pre-SB (it has only 8.3m views on Youtube for example).

In the retailer reports, what does the last number in each row refer to, the one with 11 digits? UPC number. Ignore it. I wish I could delete them all. We have not had an album chart leak with total numbers (RTD) since April 2014.

With Spotify, I don’t understand buying an album anymore unless it’s from your favorite artist.

With Spotify, I don’t understand buying an album anymore unless it’s from your favorite artist. And even then, just stream the album. It's a no-brainer for the price. However - I'm still into my digital music collection. I have such an expansive collection of over 75,000 mp3s with hundreds of playlists. I just can't be arsed with recreating it all in Spotify or even Apple Music, not to mention there are many songs and albums that aren't available, or have different versions, imports, etc.

In the retailer reports, what does the last number in each row refer to, the one with 11 digits? UPC number. Ignore it. I wish I could delete them all. We have not had an album chart leak with total numbers (RTD) since April 2014. Great, thanks for letting me know. I guessed it might have been something like that.

Billboard 200 Chart Moves: 'Grammy Nominees' Series Scores 24th Top 40-Charting Album
On the latest Billboard 200 albums chart (dated Jan. 27), Camila Cabello arrived at No. 1 with her debut solo effort, Camila. The set earned 119,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Jan. 18, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 65,000 were in traditional album sales.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the week’s most popular albums based on their overall consumption. That overall unit figure combines pure album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Now, let’s take a closer look at some of the action on the rest of the Billboard 200:
Various Artists, 2018 Grammy Nominees – No. 22 — The long-running Grammy Nominees series collects its 24th top 40-charting album on the Billboard 200, as the 2018 Grammy Nominees compilation bows at No. 22. The set earned 17,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Jan. 18, according to Nielsen Music. The entirety of that sum is driven by traditional album sales. On the Top Album Sales chart, the title launches at No. 4, and on Compilation Albums at No. 1.
The 2018 Grammy Nominees album features 21 tracks that celebrate the nominees of the 60th annual Grammy Awards, including Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic,” Portugal. The Man’s “Feel It Still” and Kenny Chesney’s “All the Pretty Girls.” The series, which began in 1995, has visited the top 40 with each of its 24 titles in its main series. (In the late 1990s and early 2000s, there were a few genre-specific compilations -- like 1999 Grammy Rap Nominees -- that did not hit the top 40.)
Collectively, the 24 installments of the main Grammy Nominees series have sold 9.58 million copies.
— Black Veil Brides, Vale – No. 14 — The band’s new studio set starts with 24,000 units (22,000 in traditional album sales), granting the act its fifth consecutive top 40-charting effort. On Hard Rock Albums, it debuts at No. 1 -- their first leader.
— The Cranberries, Stars: The Best of 1992-2002 – No. 16 — Following the death of The Cranberries’ lead singer Dolores O’Riordan on Jan. 15, the band’s greatest hits collection Stars: The Best of 1992-2002 debuts on the Billboard 200 at No. 16. The set, released in 2002, earned 22,000 equivalent album units in the week ending July 18, according to Nielsen Music (up 1,843 percent). The album sold 8,000 in traditional album sales (up 7,129 percent). Stars is the group’s highest-charting album since 1999’s Bury the Hatchet hit No. 13.
— Chris Young, Losing Sleep – No. 60 — The album surges 184-60 with the chart’s largest percentage gain (up 105 percent) as the set benefits from further sales generated by a concert ticket/album sale redemption promotion.
— The Beatles, 1 – No. 114 — The Beatles’ hits package 1 celebrates its 300th week on the list. The former No. 1 -- which was released in 2000 and steps 106-114 on the latest tally -- has racked up more weeks on the chart than any other Beatles album. The Fab Four’s runner-up is Abbey Road, with 249 weeks. It is followed by Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (219), the act’s self-titled set (known as The White Album, with 184) and the best-of set The Beatles 1967-1970 (182).
1 is also the 20th album to spend at least 300 weeks on the list, and follows Lana Del Rey’s Born to Die, which hit the 300 threshold on the Jan. 20-dated chart.
The all-time longevity champ remains -- and will likely remain for many years to come -- Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon, with 937 weeks. The runner-up is Bob Marley and The Wailers’ greatest hits set Legend: The Best of Bob Marley and The Wailers, with 505 weeks. Among all greatest hits sets, The Beatles’ 1 is one of just six titles with at least 300 weeks on the tally.
1 spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in late 2000 and early 2001 and has sold 12.87 million copies in the U.S. Since Nielsen Music began tracking sales in 1991, The Beatles’ 1 is the band’s biggest selling album, the fourth-largest selling title overall among all acts, and the best-selling greatest hits album. Ahead of 1 on Nielsen’s best-sellers list: Metallica’s self-titled album (known as The Black Album) with 16.71 million, followed by Shania Twain’s Come On Over (15.7 million), Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill (15.13 million) and then The Beatles' 1.

By my count, Beatles-1 is indeed the 20th album to get to 300 weeks.
Dark Side of The Moon is 432 weeks ahead of Bob Marley Bob Marley is actually ahead if you factor in catalog weeks.
I know it probably doesn't exist but it would be interesting to see a list of most weeks on - without the "recurrent rules" the album chart had in place during the 90s and the 00s

The twenty longest running albums in BB200 history (during the 90s and 00s, albums had "recurrent rules" much like the singles charts still do. - Long selling albums in the 90s and 00s would be impacted as they were not allowed to chart after a certain point)
