Hey y'all, as we get closer to the end of the rankdown, and the albums are getting more popular, I don't have time to write comments on every single album track unless I want to spend like 45 minutes on each album... Lol. So I would like to encourage you to share what your thoughts are on your favorite album tracks when they get revealed, if you see any that you know you submitted :) I know I'd enjoy reading about why you submitted some of the songs you did. When I get home from work I will try and comment on the album tracks I recommended (I mean basically the entire duets album lol)

I agree that "Sleeping With The Telephone" is SOOOO good! I love everything about it! I think Faith and Reba's voices blend together extremely well. My minor gripe with the song is that I wish Reba had taken a turn with the higher melody in the chorus, but it still sounds so incredible with Faith on melody and Reba on harmony that I really can't complain too much Plus the lyrics are so powerful... That ending gives me goosebumps every single time... I've always assumed it means the husband died, but it could also be open to interpretation, which is part of what makes it so effective.

I've always loved "I'm a Survivor." The sitcom isn't the reason I like it, since the remix on there is really awful.
I love the Reba version of "Because of You." I wouldn't put it over the original (my favorite KC song), but it's great in its own way. I kind of felt bad ranking it so high over Reba's original material. I didn't rank it that high just because I'm a Kelly fan, lol.
"Myself Without You" and "Sleeping With the Telephone" are two of my favorites by her. For some reason, I've always considered "Myself Without You" a sequel to "For My Broken Heart," what with the lyrics about the sun turning in both songs. I was really shocked during the Duets era when she didn't release "Sleeping With the Telephone" as a single (and then released "EOW," ugh). I can't remember if Faith Hill had much going at the time, but it would have fit the period so well with the Iraq war going on. I would've liked some spotlight on the struggle of spouses at home worrying about their loved ones.
Sorry I posted 3 days afterwards. I had some weather issues.

"I'll Be" was a top 5 hit for her, but imo should have been another #1. I suppose I could understand somebody finding it boring, because the melody and lyrics are pretty basic, but tbh I love the way her voice is produced here so much that the song is easily in my top 20 Reba songs! I am definitely shocked it managed to make the top 25, because I had no idea it was this well-liked. I figured maybe somewhere closer to the top 40 would be its maximum. I'm thrilled to be proven wrong!
toomuchboy loses a top 10 here, and this time it is .indulgecountry with the extreme outlier on the bottom!

Yet another classic '80s #1 hit departs us just within the top 25, this time taking Sean's #2 with it, as well as a top 10 from 3 other people. "One Promise Too Late" describes a very poignant situation where somebody meets their soulmate after they've just finished committing their life to somebody else. It's such a tragic idea, I hate to even think about it! Lol. I'm sure stuff like this happens in real life more than I would like to believe... This song is very good, and probably deserved a spot in the top 20. However, everything that is left is so iconic that I am definitely fine seeing this leave here.

Clearly I'm in the minority on "I'll Be" and I'm still shocked it came this far. I really thought it would've been out a long time ago. Listening to it again now and yeah... I don't get the affinity for this one. It's very meh, especially compared to a lot of the recently revealed songs that I find far superior.

I still want her,And I still need him so. I don't know why we let each other go.
If you see her, tell her the light's still on for her. Nothing's changed; deep down the fire still burns for him. And even if it takes forever, say I'll still be here, If you see him. If you see her.

Album: If You See Him Year: 1998Total: 466Average: 31.07Std Dev: 18.89castleoblivion26 - 3.indulgecountry - 7Sean - 14bboat11 - 14sbp17 - 23tim - 24Cody Wants Out... - 28@adam1995 - 28George Strait Junkie - 32Kanenrá:ke - 35dub - 35someguy - 45BackwoodsBarbie - 48toomuchboy - 58BlueShades874 - 72zaclord 🌈Reba's big duet with Brooks & Dunn bows out just outside the top 20. This song served as the lead single for both of their 1998 albums, which were aptly titled If You See Him and If You See Her, and served as a bit of a rejuvenation for both of their careers. The song was a huge smash hit! I love the music video, but it is another one of those scenarios that makes me really sad. Kix Brooks' character is stuck in the middle, with both Reba and Ronnie telling him their emotions in the aftermath of a breakup, and they still love each other, but then both tell him not to say anything... Ugh! It's like the lack of communication in "Every Other Weekend". It stresses me out way more than it should. That being said, this music video is basically the most significant thing that Kix Brooks was ever a part of for Brooks & Dunn's entire career, which cracks me up Also, this is by far one of the most epic guitar solo songs I have ever heard in country music. I can't get enough of it! {Songs Remaining} And Still Consider Me Gone Does He Love You Fancy For My Broken Heart How Was I To Know I’d Rather Ride Around With You Is There Life Out There Little Rock Rumor Has It She Thinks His Name Was John Somebody The Fear Of Being Alone The Greatest Man I Never Knew The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter The Heart Won’t Lie The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia Till You Love Me What Do You Say Whoever’s In New England Why Haven’t I Heard From You You Lie

An unpopular opinion of mine: "Because of You" overstayed just a little bit and I prefer Kelly's original to the duet version. However, the Duets album was a more recent listen for me and was impressed with quite a few tracks on there. I was initially unsure about "I'll Be" as I originally found it to be kinda sappy, but I actually found the instrumentation and musicality to be gorgeous here and have recently developed a soft spot for this. I figured that others would find it to be a little off-putting, though. "One Promise Too Late" and "If You See Him, If You See Her" deserved better!

The more I listen to "If You See Him" the more I enjoy it, but there's something about it that just doesn't click for me right away. I think something about the rhyming doesn't work for me. Like some lines rhyme, but other lines just don't have any scheme that I can figure out? I guess lyrics don't have to rhyme but whatever. They both sound great though.

So it is nearly impossible to pick a favorite Reba album, but every time I try to, If You See Him usually comes back at the top of my list. This album is PERFECT. Every song on here sounds like it could have been a smash hit! "Face To Face", the duet with Linda Davis, is one of the biggest standouts. It lets them both show off both ends of their range, and is just SO catchy! Plus I love how it is produced with Linda's voice primarily on the left and Reba's primarily on the right. It makes for a very cool stereo experience. I think that one would have made the top 10 list if y'all had ranked your album tracks.
I almost included "Lonely Alone" in this rankdown, because it was an international single, and I have seen it listed on Wikipedia among her singles before. But it appears to have been removed from the singles lists there, so I chose not to. Plus it probably would have been done dirty in this rankdown anyway because it would basically be a random album track in our minds trying to compete with classics! Lol. But that song is amazing too.
"Heart Hush" is another one that jumped out at me immediately when I heard the album. Something about Reba's vocal performance in that songs is just especially compelling.
And I LOVE the drums in "All This Time"!!
I think overall this is my favorite album because of the production. This is by far one of her more "echoey" albums, and I live for it! Plus it has held up well to this day, so it's not like a cheesy echoey '90s experience.

The Rumor Has It album accumulates its second loss of the day, this time at the expense of the title track. I have never understood why this song isn't better liked! Nobody ever seems to talk highly of it, and tbh when the submissions were coming in I felt like everybody was tanking it! So I was thoroughly surprised to see it just outside the top 20 at the end That wasn't nearly as bad as it was performing towards the beginning of the submission process!
I think this is a perfect song, and a staple if you want to talk about Reba's best. The chorus melody is so incredible, and Reba once again sounds incredible and nails the interpretation of emotions. So I'm thrilled it was able to get so high! But 7 of us lose a top 20 here, so clearly I'm not the only one who wished to see it do a little better :)

I always thought "I Wouldn't Know" was single-worthy considering it has a pretty strong chorus, but I like most of the album. I prefer both it and "I'll Give You Something to Miss" to "If You See Him, If You See Her." It's not a bad duet, just sort of there.

"Rumor Has It" deserved the top 20! Then again, all of these do! As for what'll miss the top 20, I s'pose another album will be eliminated as well, leaving us with "What Do You Say", "Does He Love You", "Consider Me Gone", "The Heart Won't Lie", and "Somebody". I suspect one of the duets will be leaving next and it may or may not be my fault. :kii: The others I've mentioned must survive until the top 15 at a bare minimum.

23. "If You See Him, If You See Her" - ft. Brooks & Dunn
Album: If You See Him Year: 1998
Okay, that's it. Rankdown's cancelled. Y'all failed. Agreed! "If You See Him/If You See Her" is amazing and is easily one of my favorites from both Reba and Brooks & Dunn. Based on how it did in 1998 Country I expected it to be gone before now so I am glad to see it make it here. Anyways other than that elimination I'm not too sad about anything that has left even if I love them because I do love everything else remaining. Album Tracks that I need to talk about: "When You Love Someone Like That" with LeAnn Rimes has always been a highlight for the Duets album, which I love as a whole. "Sleeping With The Telephone" with Faith Hill should have been a single. I would have LOVED a video to have been done for this song, I can just imagine how epic that video could be. Faith and Reba both sound amazing. "Break Each Other's Hearts Again" with Don Henley is incredible. Both of their voices together just sounds great, I do think this would have been a better single over "The Only Promise That Remains" even though I love that one a lot! "These Broken Hearts" with Vince Gill is great as well. Not as good as "The Heart Won't Lie" and I don't think it would have been a good single choice but I still love the song. "She Can't Save Him" with Trisha Yearwood is like the Faith Hill song, both would have been great videos. Such a great song! "Face To Face" with Linda Davis SHOULD have been a single. The epic sequel video they could have done to "Does He Love You" could have been great! So sad that never happened because this is so good. "Invisible" is tied with "Maggie Creek Road" as my two favorite album tracks of her entire career. I just love this song and the way she sings it is incredible.

It became Reba's first chart topper since the theme song for her sitcom got there three years prior. Unfortunately some people choose to bitch about this being a #1 because it seemed like one of the first obvious example of a record label bribing radio to get the #1... However, when I look at how big of a hit it is I think it is a very deserving #1, and any shenanigans from the label were not nearly as egregious as what happens with 95% of the songs that hit #1 nowadays... Lol
Politics aside, this is just a darn good song. I always forget how good it is until I am listening to it and find myself thoroughly enjoying it. The melody is so unique but strong, and the music video just takes it all to a whole new level. Reba's giant sinister grin that she flashes all throughout this video to make people fall in love is just too cute! {Songs Remaining} And Still Consider Me Gone Does He Love You Fancy For My Broken Heart How Was I To Know I’d Rather Ride Around With You Is There Life Out There Little Rock She Thinks His Name Was John The Fear Of Being Alone The Greatest Man I Never Knew The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter The Heart Won’t Lie The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia Till You Love Me What Do You Say Whoever’s In New England Why Haven’t I Heard From You You Lie

Another album where we just about included everything! I want to talk specifically about "Moving Oleta", because that was by far the highlight of the album for me, and it would have also made a top 10 list based on how many people submitted it. That song hits HARD, and I can't even relate to trying to care for someone with dementia. The whole structure of the song is just absolutely perfect, but my favorite moment comes when the song continues after reaching the climax. The line, "There's a shadow much darker than the valley of death when you fear the Reaper might not come today," has got to be the most brilliantly written lyric I have ever heard. I don't think this song would have worked as a single, but it is still my favorite on the album.

I always thought "Secret" had the potential for an interesting video, with a storyline she hasn't really touched before.
I like the way "Once You've Learned to Be Lonely" treats loneliness in a similar vein to an addiction, a habit that's hard to break.

The "If You See Him" album is amazing. My favorite track is "Lonely Alone", but I also love "I Wouldn't Know", "All This Time", and "Up and Flying". Honestly, there isn't a bad track on the album.

First off damn all you low rankers for "One Promise Too Late"! > Room To Breathe is one of my favorite albums from her. I don't know how cohesive it is really but there's not a single track on it I wouldn't have considered for single release. (Although "Sky Full Of Angels" would be like the biggest risk ever lol). I don't think it gets enough recognition amongst her albums.

Sorry for this long ass post, but I have A LOT to catch up on....
If you love me, don't you be afraid To look in my eyes and open up the gate. Then watch me ride beneath a newborn sun, Just like them horses When it's time to run.39. "Just Like Them Horses"
Album: Love Somebody Year: 2016Total: 605Average: 40.33Std Dev: 25.66Sean - 1Kanenrá:ke - 6BackwoodsBarbie - 11sbp17 - 18@adam1995 - 24someguy - 33tim - 34castleoblivion26 - 35BlueShades874 - 38Cody Wants Out... - 58dub - 62bboat11 - 64toomuchboy - 68George Strait Junkie - 74.indulgecountry - 79zaclord 🌈 And here it is; the next #1 loss for one of the participants! And in this case, it is our resident Reba McEntire superstan , Sean . And ironically enough, Kanenrá:ke , who is the only other person to have lost their #1 so far, also loses a top 10!
This song was a flop as a single chart-wise, but it did an excellent job of creating buzz for Reba back in 2016 when the music video came out! The song is a super emotional one for her, as it fell into her hands about the time her father passed away, and it is basically her song for him. She sang it at his funeral. So I am glad it managed to "go viral" for her despite its radio floppage. There are many songs from her I like better, but this is still an incredible song! Ya'll, this song has seriously changed my life....what an incredible song. I am perfectly fine with a top 40 placement, but I wish this would have gotten more recognition when it was released! I'm at least glad to see "Going Out Like That" come in a little higher than "Just Like Them Horses," which I've always found overrated and is one of my least favorites from the album. The music video is gorgeous though and I know the song is special to her, so I'm glad it has its place in her catalog, but "Enough" and "That's When I Knew" are some of the best album cuts I've ever heard from her and at least one of those should've been released imo. Love Somebody is a really stacked album though. Seeing that almost the entire album was highlighted further proves that. I don't think we can be friends anymore..... Ugh, the Love Somebody album is not on YouTube, and it makes me VERY sad All I could find were some random promotional videos that have snippets of the songs. But also, damn what a solid album!!!! I have probably listened to it hundreds of times, and it only came out a couple years ago... Lol. It seriously is dripping with songs that should have been huge hits... Like this post if you want me to do a Love Somebody rankdown in the future! YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And here is a clip of "Respect" live at my first Reba concert...much more to come about this concert taping as the reveals happen :Dquote] I am already jealous Where were you When I could have loved you? Where were you When I gave my heart away? All my life I've been dreaming of you, But you came along one promise too late.
24. "One Promise Too Late" So sad to see this go already!!! My favorite song from the 80's and one of my favorite moments of each concert I have seen Reba in! Her acapella part of this song at the end gets me EVERY SINGLE TIME!
I still want her,And I still need him so. I don't know why we let each other go.
If you see her, tell her the light's still on for her. Nothing's changed; deep down the fire still burns for him. And even if it takes forever, say I'll still be here, If you see him. If you see her.
23. "If You See Him, If You See Her" - ft. Brooks & Dunn
Album: If You See Him Year: 1998
SEEING THIS LIVE IN VEGAS IS A HIGHLIGHT OF MY LIFE OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG THIS DESERVES A BETTER PLACEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
More notes:
- The most surprising is how high "Because of You" made it on this list. Don't get me wrong, I love the song, but I was expecting that to go out a while ago!!! - I would DIE for a Reba: Duets II - These last 2 album spotlights are two of my favorite albums from Reba! SO GOOD!
Somebody better friend me on Facebook so I don't have to go a week without seeing this like I just did! I GOTTA KNOW THE TOP 20!!!! So sad this is coming to a close!!!
