โSpinning Bottlesโ is great. Ideally it wouldโve been a single, but I donโt see that happening now.

Before we get into this...
I donโt get the hate for โGhosts on the Stereo.โ Itโs a solid album track: Well-written with a convincing vocal interpretation. Itโs a decent song all the way around. Explain the dislike.

#3 must be Low. I donโt even wanna hear excuses and explanations from any of its tankers either.

I 1000% DO NOT GET the love for this song. I don't hate it, but like, there's nothing special about it. To each their own I guess, but thank GOD this didn't beat "Drinking Alone" or "Low". Those are so far and away the best songs on this album, so thank you Pulse for getting that right at least!

Congratulations to me at SHOOTER for our top 2 being the top 2 ๐ Kanenrรก:ke austin jenglisbe musicfan134 daddy DistrictTwelve Az Paynter @stephanie LBTrocks also have their #1s still in! How many of these posters will have their #1 song winning!? One song has 5 #1 ranks, the other song has 6 #1 ranks. One is the 3rd lowest SD of the game, the other has the 6th lowest. SEVEN points separated these two from one another in the end and #2 finished FORTY-SEVEN points above "Ghosts". These two were very, very clearly Pulse's 2 favorites from the album (rightfully so) and were almost the top 2 for the entire game. Which one will prevail??? "Low" or "Drinking Alone"?!?! Find out tomorrow!

"Ghosts on the Stereo" surpassed my expectations given the very vocal (apparent minority) haters that it has. It's one of the few unashamedly straight-laced country songs on the record and has an absolutely perfect melody and vocal performance. I also really enjoy the picture she paints with the lyrics here, especially in the second verse when she implies that she's playing her music so loud that the neighbors will think she's throwing a house party even though it's just her alone in there. Such strong imagery. And she sounds amazing on it. It also is the closest thing to sounding like it could've been tacked onto Storyteller, which is her best album to date, so it has that going for it as well with me. It's a shame this album couldn't have had a few more songs like "Ghosts" and less wonky pop tunes like "That Song" or "End up with You."

โBackslidingโ (my #11) would have been my #1 for the following months after the album came out, but I played it to the point of death. Still think it would make for a huge single and is a great song. It sounds so current and I love that it is from a more mature viewpoint than many other songs on the topic.
โCry Prettyโ (#2) is so who Carrie is and what she loves to me. Itโs a Carrie song through and through and I canโt see any other artist writing or singing it. I love Carrie finding her voice and fusing her music tastes into this song. The live performances were flawless. My only complaint is I wish the production was toned down slightly. I do think โLowโ would have been a better first single and followed a similar narrative. I also think โLowโ would have garnered some award nominations. I can see how many love or hate this one, I get that itโs polarizing. It just really works for me.
โGhosts On the Stereoโ (#3) actually benefitted a lot from it not clicking with me for a while. I thought it was just a pleasant song for a while. Now I absolutely love her vocal on it - particularly the verses (Iโve said this for multiple songs on this album). I do wish the production was toned down a bit, but thatโs my one complaint. The imagery is so interesting to me.
I predicted โDrinking Aloneโ and โLowโ would be the top two. I feel like Iโm always reading raves about those two on this board. Iโm pulling for โLowโ at #1 and I think it will be : )

I underranked โGhosts.โ Her lower register is so expressive, and it really shines here. The way she delivers some of these lines is so powerful to me. Strong lyrics too; the writers did a great job at chronicling the narratorโs breakdown.
Sometimes I wish Cry Pretty had maintained the โtorchyโ vibe of the first 3 tracks for the entire duration of the album.

I'm not at all surprised to see "Low" and "Drinking Alone" be the top 2, but one of them is the definition of overrated, while the other deserves every ounce of praise that we could possibly heap onto it... COME THROUGH, "LOW"!!!!!!!!!

Before we get into this... I donโt get the hate for โGhosts on the Stereo.โ Itโs a solid album track: Well-written with a convincing vocal interpretation. Itโs a decent song all the way around. Explain the dislike. This is my opinion and is the definition of subjective, but since you asked... I literally haven't been able to listen to the song all the way through without dozing off. I legitimately cannot listen to this song while I'm driving because I will swerve and crash into something, and proceed to not even notice because I'll be in such a deep sleep until "Low" comes on and brings me life again. Lullabies on the Stereo should be the title for this song. I literally can't even tell you how the lyrics go because I have never been able to listen to it all the way through. The song is a snooze fest that I can't even hear over my snoring around the 0:30 mark. The only redeeming quality the song has is that I can fall asleep very quickly while I listen to it. If you struggle with insomnia like I do, put this song on repeat and you won't wake up again until your alarm clock goes off. Just make sure you switch to "Low" before you fall back asleep after turning your alarm off. I'm exaggerating a little bit, but not much. The song doesn't...do anything. It doesn't make me feel anything, it doesn't inspire me, it doesn't let me have a good time while listening to it. It's worse than a bad song because at least you remember how a bad song goes, and it sticks in your mind. I actually can't tell you how the lyrics go, and I am one of Carrie's fanboys that's been here since AI that knows every song of hers by heart, and I can't tell you the opening lyrics to it without using Google. I forget that I'm listening to it halfway through and have to force myself to pay attention to it. At best, it is background elevator noise. At worst, it's a complete dud in Carrie's discography--track number two of an otherwise great album, which makes me resent it a little bit. I can't help but wonder how many people listened to her album and stopped halfway through this song because they got bored. No, in my opinion, the album doesn't start until "Low". If you start it at Low, it's one of Carrie's best albums. But the album doesn't start until Low.
