I prefer this to "Wasteland". :kii:

I knew I should have ranked my 52 lower, lol. But man, the rest of this top ten is so good. This was such a strong year, and I'm glad to see that the strength of this year is well represented in the top ten.

"Love and Memories" would have been a shoo-in for my Top 5.

Too bad Chasing Cars had to miss out but...probably the first time my top 3 has made it to the top 10 unscathed!

(also, American Idiot had the highest rank on it?! I'm pleasantly surprised, he's one of the last people here I would have expected to rank that one so high lol) I love "Crooked Teeth." I was going to say by far, my favorite Death Cab song, but then I remembered "Underneath the Sycamore." I hate using this term, but that song is like sex haha.

I probably would've ranked 'How To Save A Life' well, maybe around the same place I put 'Hands Open' by Snow Patrol.

I have something of a recollection of this song, I'm pretty sure I didn't like the vocals on it. Despite this I may have posted pop radio updates for it?
Nope this was before there was even a regular thread tracking the Mediabase pop charts.

'Joker & The Thief' would probably have been higher on my list than 'Woman' (maybe at the expense of that song making my top 10).

Coldplay making it this far is a surprise. I thought it would have more resistance for some reason (IDK how people feel about Coldplay in general, even though I'm not much of a fan).

Y all holy shit how did Wasteland make it in the top 10 that's so awesome I did not expect this.
Rooting for my #2 at this point cause it has a legitimate shot. I think my #3 Will win Active. Surprised my #8 is still in but so okay with it.
Also anyone who tanked I Will Follow You Into The Dark needs to watch the Scrubs episode 'My Last Words'. Brilliant, made me fall in love with the song.

as I saw "Chasing Cars" climbing higher and higher I knew I was going to crush some dreams with my ranking. I've always hated it, I never understood how a song that goes absolutely nowhere could be so massively popular. I also remember seeing the music video of that dude lying everywhere all over the place in middle school so it sort of cemented a special level of annoyance that I've held onto to this day.
Didn't realize it was that liked tbh, figured it would be out in the 30s or 40s, instead I blocked it from the Top 10. Whoops

25. Lights and Sounds - YellowcardNot one of my favorite Yellowcard songs 24. Steady, As She Goes - The RaconteursHigher than I ranked it, but I'm not complaining. This and especially "level" are great songs 23. DOA - Foo FightersAt least the best Foo Fighter song , came in the highest. 22. Perfect Situation - Weezer Perfect Weezer vibe. Just misses the top 20. Damn!! > 21. Only - Nine Inch NailsNVR got the hype for NIN. 20. I Will Follow You Into the Dark - Death Cab for CutieNever care much for acoustic. Not even when the Glam Metal bands did that "unplugged" shit. "stop being a pussy and plug that thing in" :kii: 19. Hole in the Earth - DeftonesBest Deftones song I've heard so far. I put it higher on Active. 18. Crazy - Gnarls BarkleyFinally some of my bottom songs are showing up. 17. Hypnotize - System of a DownAnother one that doesn't exactly inspire sing a long action. 16. I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor - Arctic Monkeys"Hipster Cock Rock" I knew there was a reason this appealed to me? 15. The Adventure - Angels and AirwavesGreat song. Great vocals. I'm glad it showed up this high. 14. Woman - Wolfmotherdamn you guys fucked it again. 8D I wanna see Wolfmother got a top 10 hit on the next rankdown we do. 13. Through Glass - Stone SourThis song; more or less, knows its place on a rankdown. 12. Soul Meets Body - Death Cab for CutieDecent DCFC song. 'nuff said. 11. Chasing Cars - Snow PatrolThis song also cruised into Pop territory. I didn't know you guys loved it that much?

EXTRAS:
Love and Memories - O.A.R. This would have been in my top 30 songs in this list. I also loved "Shattered" and especially "This Town". Both big HOT AC hits.
How to Save a Life - The Fray eh, "Cable Car" song was better.
Nth Degree - Morningwood FUCK yeah. Female Cheap Trick Power Pop. I would have put this song in the top 10 just to have one to represent female rock here. "Televisor" from the same album was also scorching. I'm probably the only one here that charted 4 songs off this album? remember "Jetsetter"?
Waiting - Trapt Another one that's gonna get nice treatment for me on Active rankdown.
Joker and the Thief - Wolfmother Wolfmother has a fierce heavy metal vibe to their songs. This type of songs are always tops in my world.
Tears Don't Fall - Bullet For My Valentine Also on the Active rankdown. Fierce guitar and screaming. How can you not love it? These extras were scorching tonight.

The top 10 looks pretty damn great. There are only two songs that suck ass to me, but the rest are right up my alley.
how can someone have 20 bottom 10's left. If I knew we could combine songs; I would put 20 songs there too. :kii:

25. Lights and Sounds - Another solid one from Yellowcard. Rather surprised it made it this far.
24. Steady, As She Goes - Thought this could be a top 10 contender, but I'll take it.
23. DOA - This one is underrated, and easily the best single from this era IMO.
22. Perfect Situation - It's an okay song, I used to like it a lot more, but it overstayed its welcome here. At least Lordeftones can take solice in it missing top 20.
21. Only - Still a really cool song, also thought this could be a top 10 contender.
20. I Will Follow You Into the Dark - So long to my #1. I'm not always into acoustic ballads, but this one really strikes a nerve with me. And I didn't even see that Scrubs episode.
19. Hole in the Earth - I'm not normally a Deftones fan, but I like this one. I'm cool with it being top 20.
18. Crazy - I'll take a top 20 ranking for this. I also thought more people would tank it.
17. Hypnotize - One of my favorites from them, definitely better than "Lonely Day", even if I've softened up on that one over time. Did a bit better than I expected.
16. I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor - I like a number of other songs by them more, but this is still a pretty cool song and I'm glad to see it top 20.
15. The Adventure - Definitely the best thing Tom DeLonge ever did after the first time he left Blink. Another one I wouldn't have minded seeing in the top 10.
14. Woman - Don't get the hype over this band at all. They just sound like the 2000s equivalent of Greta Van Fleet to me (i.e. a blatant Zeppelin knockoff), and I don't like the lyrics one bit either. I figured this would have fans, but top 15 is really shocking.
13. Through Glass - Interesting that this did better in 2006 than 2007. I personally ranked it lower here, and think it overstayed its welcome this time. "Bother" is my favorite from them - let's see how that fares.
12. Soul Meets Body - Yet another one that seemed like a strong top 10 contender. I love DCFC, and even though this is their most overplayed song, I can't deny that it's a great one.
11. Chasing Cars - Pretty surprised this made it this high, as I thought it might be more polarizing. Maybe I underranked it, it still is a really good song, even if it's gotten burned to a crisp by AC stations.
EXTRAS: Never got that into OAR, but "Love and Memories" is a good one, with a sound that would have fit right in next to the Gin Blossoms and Better Than Ezra in the mid-90s. Morningwood is irresistably fun and quirky despite the silliness of the lyrics. "Waiting" is a solid song, maybe the best I've heard from Trapt who I'm generally not crazy about. "How To Save A Life" is boring and really had no place on Alt. Bullet for My Valentine just sounds like Hawthorne Heights doing metal, which isn't a good thing. And here's Wolfmother again... this one's better than "Woman" but still doesn't do much for me.

Not a surprising top 10 at all. The only song I wasn't expecting is "Wasteland", but even that isn't too much of a shocker.
"Dani California" and "When We Were Young" are probably the leaders to win this all, I just don't see either song having many haters.
Pleasantly surprised that both my #1 and #2 are still in. Hope I didn't just jinx them though.
