#43 is another big one, though on the opposite side of the spectrum, as this is the source of the ninth-lowest standard deviation. This song spent the last fourteen rankings in the 41-50 range. That is not a typo. In fact, the song was in the 41-50 range for all but four of the rankings.
Eleven posters will lose a top half ranking here, and three people will lose top 20 rankings. One poster will even get to experience something rare tonight: Perfection. Only one poster even bothered to rank this song in the bottom 30, and only three other bottom 40 rankings would join that poster at the bottom.

#42 is the source of our highest standard deviation of the set, the fourth-highest standard deviation. I wasn't prepared for this song to have such a high standard deviation, to tell you the truth. After spending the first ten rankings in the top 40, this song settled into the 41-50 range for the last nine rankings. It looked like it might be in danger of falling out of the top half near the end, but a group of kind rankings prevented that from happening.
Eleven posters placed this song in their top half, with eight of those posters ranking this in their top 25. Two posters will both lose top ten rankings...and they're both top fives. One poster is REALLY not going to like this reveal, as they are the only poster to lose their #1 this set. (Spoiler: Every set after this one has more than one #1 loss.) Five posters ranked this song in their bottom 20, meanwhile, and two posters put this song in their bottom ten. Both of those rankings are bottom fives.

And finally, we are down to our last reveal of the night, #41. This is the source of our 19th highest standard deviation. This song was, pretty much, in the top half of the ranking for the entire ranking. Somewhat early in the process, it spent nine consecutive rankings inside the top 40. For three rankings, it fell out of the top 40, only to rebound with three more rankings inside the top 40. Finally, the last ranking, as has been a theme tonight, pushed it out of the top 40 permanently.
Twelve posters will lose a top half ranking, with five of those rankings being top 25 rankings. One of the non-top 25 rankings will experience some perfection. All but one of them are high top 25 rankings, with three being in the top ten. One is a top five for a poster that really didn't need to lose another high ranking. Three posters ranked this in the bottom 20, with only one of those posters ranking it in the bottom ten. For that poster, however, it's the only case of the entire 55-41 set where someone clears their bottom ten.

Ugh. Was hoping that I could keep my top ten in the top forty but you SOAD haters.
I can already tell I'm not going to be happy with how BYOB and Question! place next year :×
Also Over deserved better! It's better than Cold. I guess this is it for us ranking Evans Blue. If 'The Promise and The Threat' had charted it would've been in my top 5.
Also how can you put David Gilmour at #100? That was the best first listen by far.

55. Ugly (#63) - Sevendust just don't stand out much to me. This wasn't bad, though. 54. Ex's and Oh's (#42) - This was good, one of the best I've heard from Atreyu. 53. The Gift (#77) - Found this painfully boring, and the vocals on the chorus are a bit off to me. 52. Lonely Train (#24) - Why do you guys keep screwing BSC over? This song is great, it's got awesome metal riffs with a mix of southern rock. 51. Saving Grace (#38) - Man, you guys gotta tank the legends don't you. Not his best, but Petty is always great. 50. Heroes (#56) - This was alright, but there was a better and a worse Shinedown song here. 49. Tell Me Baby (#58) - This never stood out to me as one of RHCP's best. 48. Everything Changes (#51) - Pleasantly surprised by this, probably the second best thing I've heard from Staind (best being It's Been Awhile) 47. Waiting (#64) - This was ok, better than usual for Trapt. 46. Out of Exile (#22) - The better Audioslave song aaaand of course it goes out first. 45. Fully Alive (#47) - Probably the worst Flyleaf single this era, but it's not bad at all. 44. Over (#17) - And of course the better Evans Blue song goes out first because it wasn't the big single. You guys... 43. Original Fire (#33) - I mean it's Audioslave so it's not bad, but this was a little annoying. 42. On an Island (#12) - Wow, what the hell guys. Such a beautiful classic rock tune. The guitar work is phenomenal here. I guess it was just too low on the year end rank to put any higher than #100. 41. Lonely Day (#59) - Probably the worst thing I've heard from SOAD. Not awful, but "most loneliest" is kinda frustrating, and it just sounds kinda lame. Yes, I do know the meaning behind the song, but this wasn't executed properly.

the Tom Petty & David Gilmour songs could never be hits on Active today (surprised they made the cut in 06 even - not that they aren't good, but they don't fit the angsty sound of the format. These classic rock artists are relegated to AAA now. I actually used to listen to Active radio before AAA started splitting away.
I'm guessing both would've made my Top 30 & this makes me think I might start participating in Active rankdowns again at some point.

60. Landing in London - 3 Doors Down ft. Bob SegerI like Bob Seger. "Old Time Rock N Roll" and "Even Now". I love Three Days Grace, but I didn't like this team up at all. That's why songs are better when it just one artist or band. f**k team ups. Further evidence that it pays to proofread.

55. Ugly - SevendustFirst "failure. Now "Ugly"; I can't think of a better band whose song titles describe their music perfectly. "Ugly" is an understatement. 54. Ex's and Oh's - AtreyuGood song. I thought I would be one of the higher rankers? I guess it could use some redefining in the vocals?. There is no need for so much nastiness when your song is already fierce enough? 53. The Gift - SeetherA great song .It's actually one of my favorite Seether power ballads. I just felt it fit better on an Active rock list. 52. Lonely Train - Black Stone CherryYou'll never really find me tanking a Black Stone Cherry song. usually they come in right outside my Top 50. 51. Saving Grace - Tom PettyKeeping Tom Petty right outside the top 50. There had to be "payloa" involved in this decision? Anyway, this is a great rocking track. You can hear the Jeff Lynne in the guitar works. 50. Heroes - ShinedownThis is not one of my favorite Shinedown songs, but still better than a big load of songs here. 49. Tell Me Baby - Red Hot Chili PeppersI figured this wouldn't do so great on an ACtive rankdown, but top 50. Good for them. 48. Everything Changes - StaindI'm really glad this is the Staind song that came in the highest. Great song. 47. Waiting - TraptThis is such a sing a long monster jam. Try to keep up with his pace in the verses, if you can? Took me a while, but I finally got it. Listen how he holds the note when he sings "head" towards the end. I love this song. 46. Out of Exile - AudioslaveBad -Ass" alternative rock. Listen to the guitars in the solo. Lyrics are great too. Anything under #40 is offensive. 45. Fully Alive - FlyleafI admit sometimes I get confused with Flyleaf's songs as to which are my favs and which are not, but this one shot at me as one of my favs. This also has the structure to have been a perfect Pop crossover. 44. Over - Evans BlueDon't remember what this sounded like, but now that I click on it again, I can see why I put it low. 43. Original Fire - AudioslaveCool song, but not batter that "Out Of Exile". Oh well, what can I expect from a forum that tanks "Lips Of An Angel"? 42. On an Island - David GilmourThere are three songs by this band that don't bore me to oblivion. "Another Brick in the Wall", "Run Like Hell" and "Money" 41. Lonely Day - System of a DownI put this one a bit higher, cuz his vocals don't sound so like him. Also I didn't know beforehand about his brother. That deserves a bit of upgrading.

EXTRAS:
The Who - It's Not Enough Seeing how classic Rock gets rammed in the ass on this forum; it wouldn't have helped one bit to put this in my top 10. However; truthfully, this wasn't that great of a song.
Lacuna Coil - Our Truth I probably would have put this one in my top 20? While the rest of the members.....bottom 10?
Huck Johns - Oh Yeah Who the fuck is this guy. Brian Johnson's son? Cool AC/DC vibe. I might have put this in my top 50, just for the vibe alone? True story.
The Rolling Stones - Oh No, Not You Again What I wrote about The Who's song, applies here as well. Even the fact that it wasn't all that great.

The NCAA Tournament may be going on tonight, but we still have a reveal to do.
#40 (surprise) is a song from a band with multiple songs in this rankdown. Other than two short stints outside of it, this song was in the top half of the ranking for the entire rankdown. It was also in the top 40 for eight of the last nine rankings, spending the last two rankings at #40.
Thirteen posters (or 2/3 of the participants) ranked this song in the top half of their ranking, with six of those rankings being top 25 rankings. One poster loses a top ten ranking, and though it's not a top five ranking, it's not far off. No one loses a bottom ten ranking, but two bottom 20 rankings will be revealed, as will a third ranking that came pretty close.
