- What songs in the top ten surprise you? I didn't think "Dani California" or "Bat Country" would have enough support to make the top 10. The same also applies for "Wings of a Butterfly" and "Welcome Home" but I'm happy to be proven wrong. - What songs are you disappointed to not see in the top ten? "Hole in the Earth" and "Hypnotize" - Who will lose their bottom ten last, Az, Doc, or Sam? Doc - Care to predict the top ten? Or, at the very least, the #1? I'm not good at predicting but I will say that I hope "Through Glass" does not repeat. I'd also rather not see my #64 win. It's a good song but it's easily my least favorite of all I have heard from this band. Songs remaining: 2, 3, 6, 12, 16, 19, 21, 26, 39, 64 Far from the best rankdown performance for me. I'm pleased that my #1, "The Diary of Jane", did as well as it did. I was worried it might finish outside the top 25 so a #14 performance is great. I really enjoy 9 of the top 10. I wish I had ranked my #39 a good 15 spots better than I did.

I don't care what song wins this all, as long as its not "Welcome Home". Hopefully I made sure it can't.

Deftones should've made top ten are you fucking kidding me. Fuck that RHCP song, I don't think there's ever a song that's burned out on me as much as Dani California and it's easily one of their most boring songs. I should've tanked it. Snow should've been the song to double up in top tens.
Really surprised that Wolfmother doubled up. Also surprised that Bat Country snuck in.

Considering it is a holiday tonight and most of us will probably be out tonight will you be holding the final reveals until tomorrow?

Considering it is a holiday tonight and most of us will probably be out tonight will you be holding the final reveals until tomorrow? I was thinking about doing that, yes...but not because it's St. Patty's Day. :kii: In any case, we still have to do the top ten preview. If I do update tonight, it will be later than usual. The weather is not being too friendly today. - This is the first top ten for Coheed and Cambria and HIM. It's also the first AND second top tens for Wolfmother. - This is the second top ten appearance for Avenged Sevenfold, whose last appearance seems so far away (pun alert), all the way back in the 2011 rankdown. They will be looking to improve upon their #8 performance in that rankdown. - This is the third top ten for 10 Years. 10 Years are also the first band tonight to do the double, having made the 2006 Alt top ten already, - This is the fifth top ten appearance for Red Hot Chili Peppers, and, incredibly, it's their fifth appearance with only two songs to show for it: "Dark Necessities" and now "Dani California". Of course, "Dani California" is also doing the double. - These are the fifth and sixth top ten appearances for Tool, all in the span of two years. "The Pot" is making its second straight Active top ten, while "Vicarious" is also, indeed, doing the double. Tool finished second in last year's Active rankdown, and revenge has to be on their minds. - This is the sixth top ten appearance for Stone Sour, and the second straight Active top ten for "Through Glass". "Through Glass", of course, won the 2007 Active RD, and it will be looking for a repeat #1 here.

Sorry, I know it's St. Patrick's Day, but the top ten does not take vacations for holidays.
We're going to see the 12th lowest standard deviation right off the bat with #10. Outside of a few early rankings, this song was almost always in the top 25. It would spend the last ten rankings in the top 20, and it would spend two of the last three rankings in the top ten. In fact, it would spend its top ten trips at the same spot: #10. This was a song that never got enough support to really do damage, but considering that it was over 60 points ahead of #11, there was never any doubt about this song's top ten status at the end.
All but three people ranked this song in their top half, with twelve people losing a top 25 ranking here. There are three top tens here, as well, with one being a top five. One of the non-top five top ten rankings will also be the first ranking tonight to get some perfection. No poster ranked this song in their bottom 30, but two did rank it in their bottom 40.

#9 was in the top 20 for the last sixteen rankings. It was in the top ten for the last eight (though it did get to the top ten earlier, even if it didn't stay there long). It even hit the top five, at one point, and stayed there for a couple of rankings...only to get brought down to the bottom area of the top ten, where it would stay for the rest of the rankdown.
All but three posters ranked this song in their top 50, with thirteen of those top half rankings being top 25 rankings. We'll see six top ten rankings go out here, though, intriguingly, just one top five. Of the three bottom half rankings, just one is a bottom 30 ranking (though one of the other rankings gets close), but it's a pretty low ranking. In fact, it clears one of the remaining three bottom tens.

I'll give this song one thing: That opening scream remains awesome. I wish I cared about the rest of the song as much, though.
Oh, forgot to mention...congrats on clearing your bottom ten here, Az Paynter. 9

Dang "Bat Country" was almost their best performing song. It easily remains their best song IMO. I still remember MTV of all places pumping these guys up by showing the music video a ton. Think about that for a second.

#8 spent just about every ranking in the top 15. It would also spend thirteen of the last fourteen rankings in the top ten. It also did not reach the top five at any point, settling for #6 a couple of times. Ultimately, it ends up in the middle of the 6-10 range.
All but three posters didn't just rank this song in their top half, they ranked it in their top 40. Twelve posters also ranked this song in their top 25, though only two ranked it in their top ten. One of those top tens is a top five, though. The three bottom half rankings are all bottom 40 rankings, but none are bottom 30 or lower.

I said in the Alt game thread that 'Joker & The Thief' would probably have pushed 'Woman' out of my top 10 in that game. Fun fact; it actually did that here. :kii:

#7 was never outside of the top ten. It would reach a low point in the top ten later in the rankdown, but it still did more than enough over the course of the entire rankdown to be able to make the top ten with little problems.
We'll start at the bottom, where only four posters ranked this song in their bottom half. Of those rankings, two are pretty low. Twelve people will be losing a top 25 ranking, on the other hand, with ten people losing a top ten ranking, many of those rankings being top five rankings. Is there a #1 loss here? We'll just have to wait and see...
Oh, this is the song with the 11th highest standard deviation. I really should mention these kinds of things sooner. :kii:

I was hoping this could stick around a little longer, but all things considered, Active-only and it STILL made the top ten...impressive.
My condolences, @humanshazam, Green Baron, and American Idiot. Might as well be consoling myself, too, because this would have been my #1 in just about every other Active ranking so far. 7

#6 was another that made the top ten its permanent residence. This song was a top five contender the entire rankdown, and it challenged for #1 at one point, though that didn't last. It actually spent four rankings at #6, including the all-important last ranking.
All but three people ranked this song in their top half, and all but four people ranked this song in their top 25. Despite that, only six people will lose a top ten here...though at least one of those rankings is a little slice of perfection. Four posters lose a top five ranking, and two of those rankings are particularly high ones...but are they #1 rankings? Of the three bottom half rankings, two are bottom 30 rankings...and pretty low ones.

I was only a little surprised that this didn't have a #1 ranking. I guess it being a repeat (and it having competition in another Tool song) meant that #1 would elude the song this time. As did the top five.
Oh, Sambalada, congrats on clearing your bottom ten. Doc Indie Party Rock, you now stand alone... 6

It's top five time! At #5 is a song that would prove to be quite the contender for most of the rankdown...in the 6-10 range. It spent twelve of fifteen rankings in the 6-10 range, and it looked like that's where it would finish...but it would actually do one better than that and finish in its best position, #5.
Only two people did not rank this song in their top half, though both of those rankings are bottom 30 rankings, and one is a bottom 20. Eleven people ranked this song in their top 25, while eight people went a step further and ranked it top ten. We'll see four top five rankings fall here, and, yet again, there's a chance that we could see a #1 fall...

Incredible performance for this song. I thought it would contend for top ten, but I wasn't expecting it to be a top ten regular, nor did I expect it to squeak into the top five. 5

#4 spent the last fifteen rankings in the top ten. Of those rankings, it spent more than half in the bottom five, including spending the last four rankings at the exact same spot: #4. The reason it couldn't break into the top three will be made apparent soon, but this put up a hell of a fight.
Only two people didn't even rank this song in their top 40. One is a bottom 30 ranking. Twelve people ranked this song in their top 25, with just six of those people ranking it in their top ten. Three of those rankings are top five rankings, though, and, yet again, there's a chance that we'll see a #1 ranking.
