98 for End Game, holy shit Taylor...promote...anything at all. She really let this album die from day 1
The top 5 doesn't move, color me fucking shocked.
Lol at the only thing that stopped Ed from having two 10 week number ones (pretty much exactly a year apart from each other) is Drake with the most Drake song ever

End Game has collapsed on pop radio in the past week. It's done.

Hmm, seems like a boring week is coming, with no big news. It was due, I guess, the past few weeks have been all at least somewhat exciting.

I hope we get some movement soon cuz the Hot 100 is not moving at all, the Top 20 is so stagnant that How Long is gonna be #21 for a fifth week in a row. The song can't break through, and the Top 5 is set to stay the same for another week.

Yeah it's both, with streaming taking it to another level because you have both airplay and streaming.
When more official radio data was added in the early 90s, it's when real longevity was added to the Hot 100. Now with streaming being added, it has taken that longevity to another level.

R.I.P End Game i‘m really disappointed by Taylor🤔. It would have been a top10/5 hit or even a number 1. I just don’t understand why she didn’t promoted it? Her Team is so messed up😒

When more official radio data was added in the early 90s, it's when real longevity was added to the Hot 100. Now with streaming being added, it has taken that longevity to another level. That and the complete collapse of sales, which has been industry-driven. Where you had 3 components to balance - with sales being dynamic - now you have 2 dominant that are pretty static. You can pretty much check out H100 once a month and there isn't that much change - you may miss one-week high debuts or multiple album tracks from big album, both of which usually crash, etc.

If sales became the dominant factor again - be they digital or not - would the charts go back to being more like in the 80s, with bigger turnovers?

Before things got back to the 80s, 4 things need to happen:
Radio needs to let go of current songs after two and a half months. You heard me… 10 weeks.
Because of that, labels need to push new releases hard every three months.
The Hot 100 would have to drop all radio formats but one, so that migration from one format to the other is minimized.
Streaming needs to almost entirely reflect that one radio format.
Thus, won't happen.

There’s been more than one 10 weeker per year (average not actually every year) since Nielsen, if there was only one 10 weeker in those 3 years it was probably just a dry spell

Has there been any updates on the supposed formula change? Last I heard there were disputes with Spotify and they were threatening to stop reporting their number to Nielsen altogether. At least right now that's the only way I could see the hot 100 becoming less static, since Billboard would have to readjust their formula entirely. Sales would likely become a lot more powerful seeing as Spotify is the biggest streaming platform currently.

Streaming was not that big deal in 2013/14, so technically streaming is huge since 2015.

don't blame her, she's gotta spend time promoting plants like Bazzi I do agree that Bazzi is an industry plant like Khalid, but Mine is a pretty dope song. Bazzi is an industry plant? The reason why Mine is smashing is because of a Snapchat filter that turned into a meme. That logic is exactly why people like Kent Jones and Carly Rae Jepsen had hits. It was the audience that made them famous.
