3 and 5 left.
Glad KMKY was able to make the top 5, I expected it to bow out early in the top 10. GGG has no business anywhere near the top 5.

#1 vs #4 I'm okay with my #4 winning, but I'll be overjoyed if my #1 wins.

Which winner will take it all?
..........
Which loser will have to fall??
..........
2. "The Winner Takes It All"from Super Trouper (1980)"Nothing more to say. No more ace to play."Even though Christmas 1978 brought the separation of Agnetha and Björn, that didn't stop the band from trailing on. In early 1979, they released their Voulez-Vous album, and later that year went on a world tour. They seemed to be the same group they always were. With 1980's Super Trouper, though, they began to appear as a more serious group, leading off with this song. Although Björn denies that the lyrics are directly about his and Agnetha's divorce, it's pretty clear that the influence is there. Agnetha has one of the most emotive voices I've ever heard in pop music, and she uses it here in full effect. There's something so strange about an ex-husband writing the lyrics "Tell me does she kiss, like I used to kiss you" for his ex-wife to sing, but it works. All four members have stated that this is one of their personal favorite ABBA songs. This was the song that got me into the band and made me want to check out their other material, and although I pretty much love everything they ever did, nothing I've ever comes across by them tops this song. I was worried it wouldn't do too well, especially when it started getting a lot of middling scores, but it also had four #1's and only three placements lower than #10 (I'm judging those people, btw). But it could never stop the #1, as you can see the difference in their averages... Good thing "The Winner Takes It All" didn't take it all. "Dancing Queen" is so iconic and a very deserving winner. Thanks for hosting Ginger Spice!!

The winner was about as predictable as a fact that a song by Dolly Parton is going to win in Dolly Parton songs rankdown... Dancing Queen is iconic, is their signature song and it pretty much sums up everything most people think ABBA is about. It's also one of the best pop songs ever written. I like this song because is the one song everybody knows so I never miss the opportunity to play it as loud as I can on some party where music usually doesn't suit my taste. That being said Dancing Queen is not among my absolute favourite ABBA songs. I think I listened to it a few too many times and I discovered that other songs suit my taste a little better. The Winner Takes It All is an absolutely perfect song. Melody and lyrics are as sad as they can be and the heartbreak expressed in Agnetha's voice, especially in the part where she sings: I don't want to talk/If it makes you feel sad/And I understand/You've come to shake my hand/I apologize/If it makes you feel bad/Seeing me so tense/No self-confidence/But you see feel so real. And even though they keep denying that this song is about Agnetha and Bjorn divorce emotions and sadness in Agnetha's voice tell us otherwise. Ginger Spice thank you for hosting

Yeah, Dancing Queen is #1 for a reason, one of the greatest pieces of pop music ever created(and not like one of the 10000 greatest pop songs, no bitch this is an ESSENTIAL). I'm not gonna try to wax poetic about it but it's one of those songs that can make me cry when I'm in the right mood, so pure and joyful, it's what pop music is all about.
Wish I participated in this! such a great discography that I need to listen to more of! ABBA is love.

2. The winner takes it all (1): one of my all-time favorite songs. Even if the melody is less complex than other songs from them, they are strong enough to support a strong music and even stronger vocals and lyrics. From the first seconds, the music takes you to a place of melancholy. Agnetha’s voice then is inescapable, and connects at a deep level. She bared it all up to the moment where the effective silence highlights her emotion even further, if only just to take us to a point of real vulnerability where you can feel her sobbing... the last minute is like a musical group hug from the other members. I loved the song from the moment I heard it, but it became even more important at difficult moments with my parents leading to talks of separation. This is one of those song I can’t just listen passively... I have to pay attention. A clear number one to me. Very happy to see several others agreed with me :-) 1. Dancing queen (4): I could’ve placed it at 2 or 3 as well. This is just a perfect pop song that takes you to moments of pure joy, happiness, but also sometimes nostalgia and daydreaming. Perfectly crafted pop song. Nothing to add, nothing to substract. Clear favorite for all generations, and a good #1 for this RD too Thanks for hosting, Ginger Spice! This was excellent, especially right after the 1984 RD. Awesome trips down the memory lane!!

I'm a year too late for this but it was fun to read through the results. I'm not sure how different it would have been with my submission. My Top 3 likely would have been The Winner Takes It All at #1 with Super Trouper and Lay All Your Love On Me for the remaining 2.
I didn't grow up with ABBA in any way, shape or form. I was familiar with them by hearing their name but the only ABBA songs I recognized were Take A Chance On Me, Mamma Mia and Dancing Queen. I never cared for them really but when Fernando played on an episode of Malcolm In The Middle, one where Bea Arthur guest starred, that was my first time actually liking an ABBA song. Last year, the theatre I worked at did a production of Mamma Mia so I had to do a lot of research on them for the house program. I saw the musical 3 times and fell in love with each song. It wasn't until this month that I FINALLY got ABBA Gold and I've been loving it ever since!
