Here, at #15, we have the 3rd highest SD. This bombshell comes complete with 3 top 5s, two more top 10s, and a top 20. The opposition had to be fierce to knock this out of the top 10, where it spent most of the submissions process, and it was; one 40 and two bottom 10s.

I was convinced that I was the really low ranker on peacebone's #1.
I'm relieved to be wrong. I like this one quite a bit, and it pained me to rank it bottom half.

If Radiohead is in a rankdown, they're getting tanked. It is tradition.

Let's calm down and reveal a song we can agree on a little more. #14 is the 10th lowest SD. It does take with it a top 5 and a top 10, but the low rankings weren't much of a drag--two bottom 30s ranks, and neither were bottom 20s. Three people also ranked this song top 20. It started in the top 10, hit a low point of just 21 in the middle, and then parked itself here.

Hey, get this: #14 and #13 were also tied. And you know what else? The winner of the tie is the 8th highest SD. Two top 5s (the high rank for this was just one above the high rank for "She's a Superstar") and two other top 10s are snatched away here, along with 4 top 20s. So what gives? Well, its two bottom half ranks were incredibly potent: a near-bottom 10, and a bottom 5. This song reached the top 20 at the midway point.

Golly gosh gadzooks, we can't stop revealing major SDs! #12 is the 11th lowest. It has one top 10, 5 top 20s, and 8 top 30 ranks overall. Its two lowest ranks were a bottom 20 and a near-bottom 20. This song never left the top 15. Seriously!

And so, we come to the loneliest number in any rankdown, #11. One person ranked this song top 5 and two more ranked it top 10. Three more could at least commit to a top 20. The two bottom 30 ranks paint a similar story to "Pearl"'s: One wouldn't have been a problem if not for the severity of the other.

The final extra that you can thank peacebone for not seeing on the final playlist. But no worries; in addition to his potential RD, this song is probably a lock for 1991 Alt. EXTRA

I would have ranked this Primus song higher than OtEG, but 1) you already heard a Frizzle Fry song on shazam's FOAT 1, and 2) I felt it was slightly too metallic for the list. EXTRA

Well, the pleasant side effect of having a good chunk of the participants hate my guts is that I am absolutely in love with this top ten. Hell, I was even kind of rooting for Cocteau to make the top ten so I might have a song to root against.

And finally, the biggest genuine mistake I made in compiling this rankdown. This is one of my favorite songs of the 90s, and it would've challenged for #1 on my ballot. Not sure why it slipped my mind so badly. EXTRA

man, did I fall behind here. Only gonna comment on songs I really like. 40. Sugarcube - Yo La TengoThe song's is ok, the music video was a hoot. The band's name is even better. means "I Have Her" 39. Tilted - SugarThe vocals sound a bit drowned out by the guitars, but that only means the guitars are pretty fierce. This one had a lot of NRG. 33. Losing a Whole Year - Third Eye BlindOne of my favorite Adult Alternative bands. This one was from the first big album. "The Graduate" also got a lot of airplay then. I started to lose interest when their songs became too Too political. EXTRA:In the Meantime - SpacehogGreat song. The vocals were so unique. You should have included it in the top hits list. Atta Girl - HeavenlySuperb First listen. Hooked me from the start. Rock N Roll McDonalds - Wesley WillisWas this a commercial in another part of the world? Looks like something you would see on European TV? Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away) - DeftonesQuite a bit more melodic than what I usually hear from this band. I like the guitar action here. 28. Alec Eiffel - PixiesI can't recall too many songs from this band, but they are popular here, and they have a Spanish Rock vibe. This song is great. 26. She Don't Use Jelly - The Flaming LipsI never loved this song, but it's so nostalgic you can't help but sing along to it. We used to make up new lyrics for this song all the time. Dirty, silly, anything that rhymed. So what exactly does she use Vaseline for? 25. The Wagon - Dinosaur Jr.I remember this band for "Start Choppin'" This one is pretty good too. 23. Railwayed - Kitchens of DistinctionGreat first listen. This is what Spanish Rock sounded like in the 90's. You can hear a little Fobia in that guitar and bass. 22. My Finest Hour - The SundaysGood song. The Sundays were always a pleasant listen. This is about as pleasant as I can handle too. 21. Nearly Lost You - Screaming TreesWas this there big hit? I liked one song from this band. This might be it, cuz I dig this vibe. More extras:Soon - My Bloody ValentineSo Dreampop means more female oriented vocals. This reminded me a bit of the Smashing Pumpkins. I might definitely have to do that list. Name - The Goo Goo DollsThis might have been my #1 song. Always got to stop what I'm doing to watch this music video. Prison Sex - ToolSurprised to see that this is Tool. I agree this is a good song. Got some early Soundgarden vibes here. The guitars works; which usually tune me out, kinda are what hooked me here. Go figure. Won't be tanking this song, that's for sure. Hurricane - Thinking Fellers Union Local 282This song isn't bad, it just needs more vocals. 20. Theresa's Sound-World - Sonic YouthI'm sure there is a song from this band I like, but this one doesn't really amount too much. 19. Behind the Scenes of the Sounds & the Times - Swervedrivernever heard this one, but it's pretty uptempo in the guitars. 17. Novacaine for the Soul - EelsMaybe it's the fact that they played this one so much on the radio, but it kinda grew on me. Good song. 15. Just - RadioheadNot too bad for this band. I still only like "Creep" and "High and Dry" 13. Siva - The Smashing PumpkinsThis band did good music so long as they stayed together. Billy Corgan has killer vocals. 11. Iceblink Luck - Cocteau TwinsDamn. just missed the top 10. This song would have been in my top 5. The other extra in my top 10. There are only three songs in that Top 10 that I know, and AIC has the best of the three. Just saying.

This is an excellent top 10! I really like all of the songs that are remaining. I was surprised that "Just" and "Siva" fell short of the top 10 though. And I didn't think "De-Luxe" and "Disassociative" would get enough support to make it this far. Also, I'm glad that Eels and The Dismemberment Plan were able to make the top 20. Just for fun I did a ranking for all of the extras: {Spoiler} 1. Helmet - Unsung 2. Deftones - Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away) 3. Spacehog - In the Meantime 4. Goo Goo Dolls - Name 5. Tool - Prison Sex 6. My Bloody Valentine - Soon 7. Slowdive - When the Sun Hits 8. Motorpsycho - The Nerve Tattoo 9. Kitchens of Distinction - Drive That Fast 10. Disco Inferno - The Last Dance 11. Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas 12. Spiderbait - Glockenpop 13. Broadcast - The Book Lovers 14. Therapy? - Stop It You're Killing Me 15. Spiritualized - Angel Sigh 16. dEUS - Roses 17. Morphine - Whisper 18. Primus - To Defy the Laws of Tradition 19. Thinking Fellers Union Local 282 - Hurricane 20. Red House Painters - Grace Cathedral Park 21. Low - Words 22. Heavenly - Atta Girl 23. The Mountain Goats - Cubs in Five 24. John Frusciante - Untitled #6 25. Wesley Willis - Rock N Roll McDonalds

It's Winning Time. Just a few facts on how our top 10 stacks up - Every song here has 3 top 10s or more
- 6 participants still have their #1. Only one song has multiple #1s.
- Who will clear their bottom 10 last--aerodynamite, Troy, or @jamesflame?
- The lowest, 3rd lowest, 4th lowest, and 12th lowest SDs are still around, but so is the 5th highest.

#10 is the first song to have been #1 at any point. Then it fell out of the top 15, fought back, re-entered, took one more blow, then triumphantly finished here. One person will already lose their 1, three more part with top 10s, and there are also three more top 15. But this is the 5th highest SD for a big reason: Its two bottom 10s.
