I’m saying Billy Currington for the block....
1 Good Directions 2 Famous In A Small Town 3 Settlin’ 4 It Just Comes Natural 5 Wasted 6 Amarillo Sky 7 If You're Reading This 8 So Small 9 Stupid Boy 10 As If
I’d be happy with 1 through 7 winning

My stab at a Top 10 guess:
01. Wasted, Carrie Underwood 02. Settlin', Sugarland 03. As If, Sara Evans 04. Famous In A Small Town, Miranda Lambert 05. Good Directions, Billy Currington 06. It Just Comes Natural, George Strait 07. So Small, Carrie Underwood 08. Stupid Boy, Keith Urban 09. If You're Reading This, Tim McGraw 10. Amarillo Sky, Jason Aldean
Glad to see we killed off Kenny just inside the Top 20. Also lol @ Jake Owen almost making the Top 10. That one majorly overstayed.

Startin' With Me is one of Jake's best! Definitely deserving of the top 15, imo!

Okay, as to why "Stay" by Sugarland is all around trash:
Let's first start with the song musically. I absolutely detest everything about it. The guitar is terrible, Jennifer's vocals are like nails on a chalkboard on the track, and the vocal arrangement/melody is ugly and cringeworthy AF. Now that we got that out of the way...
The LYRICS! As horrid as the song is musically, the lyrics are hands down the worst part of this song. The narrator is garbage. She's running around with a man who is already taken, desperately trying to get him to leave his significant other, all the while playing the victim! It's ridiculous. I get that the writers were going for a unique point of view, that of the other woman, but it's a point of view I have no interest in hearing and the only emotion it evokes in me is anger. Now some of you might say, "but in the end she did the right thing and stopped seeing him!" Yeah, but she only did that AFTER she tried to get him to leave his partner for her and he wouldn't do it. She does NOT get points for that. If she would have gotten her way, he would have left his woman to be with her and she wouldn't have ended things. It's not like she suddenly grew a conscience. She just didn't get her way. She's nothing but a cheater with no morals, and how any listener could sympathize and/or feel bad for her in any way is beyond me. The only positive I guess is that you can hope she learned her lesson going forward and will no longer run around with men who aren't single, but who knows or cares because the song doesn't specifically address that one way or the other, and it doesn't change how I feel about her based on her actions depicted in the song.
And then the music video made things even worse with all the crying. Are we really supposed to feel bad for this woman?! Not in my world.
So yeah, considering how intensely I loathe every single thing about this song, it is EASILY one of the worst songs ever IMO.

I agree that it’s hard to understand LeAnn in that song and it’s maybe her worst vocal but it’s an amazing song and her worst vocal still works for me! Love Nothin Better To Do!
Stay was out surprisingly early and so was I Told You So.
I just hope So Small doesn’t win.

There's nothing "wrong" with it, but it's rather forgotten and I would've never guessed it would've come anywhere close to this far. If you'd asked me when this start, I probably wouldn't have predicted Top 50 for it, even. It's just not... up to the caliber of the majority of the songs that made the Top 10 or went out just before it imo.

Hated to see Jake come up just shy of the top 10, such a great country ballad (although i kinda wished they had released the similarly themed Ghosts instead, i rate it just slightly above Startin' With Me).
As for the top 10, I think it's going to come down to Billy, Carrie, Sugarland, and maybe Tim for the top spot.
10. So Small, Carrie Underwood (this has massively overstayed) 9. As If, Sara Evans 8. Amarillo Sky, Jason Aldean 7. Famous In A Small Town, Miranda Lambert 6. Stupid Boy, Keith Urban 5. It Just Comes Natural, George Strait 4. Wasted, Carrie Underwood 3. If You're Reading This, Tim McGraw 2. Settlin', Sugarland 1. Good Directions, Billy Currington

This song didn't feel like a Top 10 then, and it doesn't now. If I recall correctly this really slowed down when it was nearing the Top 10 years back. Never understood the love for this song. This one is a pure "meh" to me.

It was the song he chose to play in front of the brass there and they signed him. Yes, it had a long climb (especially back then), but that’s because of the fact he was a new artist (second single) and the song is a ballad. Lyrics are fantastic and so is the music to it.

#10. Tim McGraw - "If You're Reading This"
Total Points: 828 Average: 37.63 Year Released: May 15th, 2007 (remixed version; June 11th, 2007) Mediabase Peak: #3 Billboard Peak: #3 Rankings:tim - 3 austin - 4 someguy - 11 gonecountry - 12 toomuchboy - 12 Cody Wants Out... - 15 sabre14 - 17 fearlessarrow - 20 kw9461 - 21 g8erboi - 28 rgreen0625 - 29 Kanenrá:ke - 32 carriefan15 - 34 zaclord 🌈 - 44 CoJoFan - 47 .indulgecountry - 53 bboat11 - 64 d3vin44 - 65 George Strait Junkie - 67 castleoblivion26 - 78 LBTrocks - 85 bigfan101 - 87 "If You're Reading This" was written just three weeks before the 2007 ACM Awards by Tim McGraw and The Warren Brothers. It was performed in honor of families of fallen soldiers who joined Tim on stage at the awards. After the airing, seven stations officially added the song to their playlist, while others started playing the song without adding it. It debuted at #35 on Billboard and #42 on Mediabase. Even though it was not released as a single, stations continued to add it and play the performance until Curb decided to release a remixed version of the song to radio in June and started promoting it. "I Need You's" promotion was officially dropped in August and that allowed Curb to focus on "If You're Reading This" and took it to a peak of #3 in the fall. A true studio recording of the song was never made. The remixed version was later included on his album, Let It Go.
This is still one of my favorite Tim singles and its backstory on how it became a hit has become widely known, even for casual radio listeners.

“Stupid Boy” needs to gtfo. It’s awful and is in no way deserving of a top 10 placement

#8. Billy Currington - "Good Directions"
Total Points: 756 Average: 34.36 Year Released: September 25th, 2006 Mediabase Peak: #1 Billboard Peak: #1 Rankings:austin - 3 d3vin44 - 3 George Strait Junkie - 5 gonecountry - 6 kw9461 - 7 g8erboi - 8 rgreen0625 - 13 toomuchboy - 14 Kanenrá:ke - 15 CoJoFan - 20 zaclord 🌈 - 24 fearlessarrow - 27 tim - 26 bigfan101 - 28 someguy - 30 carriefan15 - 45 Cody Wants Out... - 63 .indulgecountry - 66 castleoblivion26 - 72 LBTrocks - 90 sabre14 - 93 bboat11 - 98 "Good Directions" was the third and final single off Billy Currington's Doin' Somethin' Right album in September of 2006. Despite's it's slow start, it was able to pick up the pace in 2007 and peaked at #1 in May, spending three weeks atop both Mediabase and Billboard. I remember reading in Country Weekly back in then that radio stations urged the label to release this song and said it'll be a hit and it definitely was, one of the biggest of the year. Luke Bryan wrote the song with Rachel Thibodeau.
The reason I ranked this in the 90's was because I'm so tired of it. My radio station still plays it to this day and I've heard it so much that I've grown numb to it. I do love the dobro and the instrumentation, plus the lyrics are so quirky and the song's story is written in a way that makes it seem like a lot is going on, when in reality it's just a guy giving directions to an out-of-town women lol.

Miranda or Sara are going to win probably. I’m surprised an Aldean song made it this far. I’m a fan of his but I know that he has a lot of people that don’t care for him on Pulse.

Wow, surprised to see Good Directions miss the top 5. Overplay has been such a big factor in this rankdown. Makes me wonder if Miranda or Sara may win just because the songs haven't been beaten to death by radio.
