R. Kelly's victim was a male. Not saying that makes it ok. But the circumstances surrounding R. Kelly's charge sounds a lot different than the circumstances around Chris Brown or the average woman abuser. My personal judgement of a person like R. Kelly who committed battery in what appears to be a "street brawl", is a lot different than a person who beats a woman that he's in a relationship with. IDK. Maybe that makes my personal judgement sexist or biased. I never act on those first reaction judgments anyway, because I don't know the person and I don't know the situation surrounding them. Just like I wouldn't act on a rumor about a coworker in real life. Just a little nitpick of my own, but R. Kelly also has had female victims, or alleged female victims, from marrying Aaliyah underage to the sex tapes with underage girls to the sex cult he's allegedly running.

Kelly also has had female victims, or alleged female victims, from marrying Aaliyah underage to the sex tapes with underage girls to the sex cult he's allegedly running. But nothing with beating or rape right? Just age of consent stuff? The worst accusation against R. Kelly I've heard was probably "brainwashing" women. That's like an Illuminati level accusation, imo. Obviously not something that courts would pay attention to. And then the women themselves said they weren't brainwashed (But that's exactly what a brainwashed person would say!). But it shows how complex of a series of issues it is. There's so many different dimensions to the issues. Like, with the urination tape. Most people don't think that kind of a fetish is unethical at all. But then when he's accused of having sex with a minor, the urination aspect seemingly gets him viewed worse than if he had just normal sex. Same way I see the reaction to Louis CK asking coworkers to watch him masturbate. Seems like if he had just asked them to have normal sex, it wouldn't be viewed as quite as weird. Usher is another weird random one. He was sued for giving a woman herpes. I didn't even know that was something you could get into legal trouble for. It seems like common sense that if you have unprotected sex with a person you just met, that you're putting yourself at risk to catch herpes. But apparently, it's illegal for Usher not to disclose that he knew himself to be positive for herpes. So that could be considered on the spectrum of "sexual misconduct" as well. And then Katy Perry is in trouble now. For being a moron on live TV. Seems like at the end of the day, they're all just humans like us.

^ I'm not sure about all of it exactly. Some might say that if people haven't reached the age of informed consent, any sexual activity between them and adults could be considered sexual abuse, or even rape.

Some might say that if people haven't reached the age of informed consent, any sexual activity between them and adults could be considered sexual abuse, or even rape. I've heard people compare drunken sex to rape too. I've even heard people say that prostitution and pornography is inherently rape because they are being paid. Or that they're poor and don't have any choice. Or something, IDEK. Another new ridiculous one I encountered recently was somebody arguing that all prison sex is inherently rape because they don't have the choice to walk away. So I guess if you're gay, and a bottom, and get life in prison, it's impossible to want to have sex with somebody for the rest of your life. To me, the difference between rape and non-rape is pretty cut and dry. But the difference in severity between all the other more minor "sexual misconducts" is a huge spectrum. So I'm curious about people who claim to have standards about who they support. Or try to hold others up to their standards of support. I'm curious about where they draw the line. Especially the people who want to hold others up to their standards.

News
By Gary Trust | March 30, 2018 10:45 AM EDT
Marshmello & Anne-Marie's "Friends" also hits the top 40.
As previously reported, Drake's "God's Plan" tops the Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated March 31) for a ninth week, encompassing the song's entire run on the tally, dating to its debut at No. 1.
Meanwhile, Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line's "Meant to Be" pushes 4-2, becoming the highest-charting Hot 100 hit by a country duo or group in eight years.
Two acts earn their first Hot 100 top 10s: XXXTentacion, whose "Sad!" surges 19-7 as parent album ? debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and comic rapper Lil Dicky, whose body-switching spoof "Freaky Friday," featuring Chris Brown, debuts at No. 9.
Plus, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Ben Platt's "Found/Tonight" debuts on the Hot 100 at No. 49, powered by its No. 1 launch on Billboard's Digital Song Sales chart.
Beyond all that action, who else makes notable Hot 100 chart moves this week?
"Friends," Marshmello & Anne-Marie The collab climbs 41-28 on the Hot 100, marking Marshmello's fourth top 40 hit and Anne-Marie's second.
Marshmello hit a No. 20 high with "Wolves," with Selena Gomez, in December, and hit No. 30 later that month with "Silence," featuring Khalid. Just last week, "Everyday," with Logic, reached No. 29.
Anne-Marie has now hit the Hot 100's top 40 in both of her visits to the chart. She rose to No. 9 as featured, with Sean Paul, on Clean Bandit's "Rockabye" in March 2017.
"Friends" flies 29-24 on Streaming Songs, up 22 percent to 16.5 million U.S. streams in the week ending March 22, according to Nielsen Music. It also gains by 16 percent to 18 million in airplay audience and 4 percent to 10,000 downloads sold.
"Lemon," N*E*R*D & Rihanna The track rebounds 61-40 in its 20th week on the Hot 100, matching tis peak first set on the Jan. 27-dated chart. Sparking its jump? Its new remix with Drake, as the single re-enters Digital Song Sales at No. 18, up 136 percent to 20,000 sold, and surges by 34 percent to 9.6 million streams.
("Lemon" led the Rhythmic Songs airplay chart and peaked at No. 21 on the all-genre Radio Songs ranking in February.)
As the Drake remix was released during the tracking week, the song should sport further streaming gains on next week's charts (dated April 7).
"Sit Next to Me," Foster the People Debuting at No. 86, Foster the People makes its first Hot 100 visit in exactly six years, since "Don't Stop (Color on the Walls)" spent its last week on the chart (after reaching No. 86) dated March 31, 2012. Its lone prior hit marked the band's breakthrough: "Pumped Up Kicks" reached No. 3 in September 2011.
"Sit" rises to No. 3 in its 29th week on the Alternative Songs airplay chart and, as it continues its pop crossover, climbs 20-19 in its 13th week on Adult Pop Songs and 36-33 in its third frame on Pop Songs.

I've heard people compare drunken sex to rape too. Because it is? A person's ability to think rationally can be drastically impaired if they're under the influence of alcohol. That's not to say all sex done while drunk is rape (because more often than not, both parties are drunk, so neither could legally consent), but if one person is drunk and the other isn't, the drunk one can be taken advantage of and be pushed into sex whereas if they were sober, they'd be able to comprehend better what's going on and say no and keep saying no. Again, that's not to say every sexual encounter where alcohol is involved is rape, but legally, yes, if a person's judgement is clouded by any substance, it can constitute as rape.

Same thing with underage people. That's why it's legally called...statutory rape. Because it is.

Lemon is now falling hard on radio so the Drake remix didn't really do much for it. They really tried but it never connected with a wider audience.

Again, that's not to say every sexual encounter where alcohol is involved is rape, but legally, yes, if a person's judgement is clouded by any substance, it can constitute as rape. I think we're in agreement. But I've heard people who argue that every sex act involving a substance is inherently rape. And not just alcohol, but all drugs. I've heard people, in person, basically say that anybody who takes mind altering medication (adderal, zoloft, etc) shouldn't ever be having sex. Like, if you need to take anti-anxiety medication then you're basically signing up for a life of celebacy. Or that when my grandmother enjoys a few glasses of wine before bed on a Friday night, and her husband of 50 years can't because of his health problems, then he's a rapist if they decide to get intimate. I think it's less about the alcohol and more about the intent of the individual. There's levels to the amount of alcohol that a person has in their system. It's not as if there's a particular % blood alcohol range where it suddenly goes from a peaceful encounter to hardcore rape. Same thing with age. It's not like it's a specific range where a 15-18 year couple old are just a pair of teenagers, and then a 15-19 year old couple are suddenly a rape situation. That may be how it is legally, because they have to set specific parameters. But realistically, on a personal level, can you really condemn a person because they're a month or a week or a day older than you want them to be? But if you could look at the specific action and intent of the individuals involved, then I think it's MUCH more black and white. Because there are a lot of people who knowingly take advantage of people who feel forced and otherwise unable to say no. And I don't think it's that hard to differentiate between an enthusiastic willing partner and a reluctant partner.

But I think it's a harmful misuse of the word "rape" to use it to describe consensual sex between, say, a 15 and 16 year old. Or a 17 and 18 year old. (Or whatever happens to be the law in that particular area.) Thankful, pretty much every legal system differentiates between sex with a willing partner, and sex with an unwilling partner, for teenagers regardless of each person's age.
