Lin-Manuel Miranda & Ben Platt's 'Found/Tonight' Launches at No. 1 on Digital Song Sales Chart 3/26/2018 by Gary Trust
The charity single for March for Our Lives starts with 61,000 sold. On the Hot 100, it bows at No. 49. Lin-Manuel Miranda and Ben Platt's "Found/Tonight" debuts at No. 1 on Billboard's Digital Song Sales chart (dated March 31).
Released March 16 on I Know Another One/Atlantic Records, the song starts with 61,000 downloads sold in the week ending March 22, according to Nielsen Music. It also drew 2.1 million U.S. streams, helping enable its No. 49 debut on the streaming-, airplay- and sales-based Billboard Hot 100.
The track is a mashup of two songs from the artists' respective Tony-Award-winning musicals: Hamilton's "The Story of Tonight" and Dear Evan Hansen's "You Will Be Found." Miranda wrote and starred in Hamilton, while Platt starred in Dear Evan Hansen, whose "Found" was written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
A portion of all proceeds from "Found/Tonight" benefit the March for Our Lives initiative, and Miranda and Platt performed the song at the March for Our Lives rally in Washington, D.C., on Saturday (March 24).
Miranda earns his second Digital Song Sales No. 1, following fellow charity single "Almost Like Praying," featuring Artists for Puerto Rico. Released in response to Hurricane Maria, the track debuted atop the chart dated Oct. 28, 2017 (with 111,000 sold). It also became Miranda's highest-peaking song (of now four) on the Hot 100, debuting at its No. 20 peak that week.
Platt scores his first Digital Song Sales and Hot 100 entry. His sole prior Billboard charted title is also a Dear Evan Hansen composition that garnered a No. 1 rank: "Waving Through a Window," credited to Platt and the Original Broadway Cast of Dear Evan Hansen, hit the top of the Dec. 9-dated Dance Club Songs chart.
All charts will update Tuesday (March 27) on Billboard.com.

Blood" is likely to see a sizable jump on next week's Hot 100 (dated April 7), as that chart will encompass the song's first full week of tracking. (Streaming and sales run on a Friday through Thursday tracking cycle, while airplay runs Monday through Sunday.)
Next week's charts could also see action for fellow new Mendes song "Lost in Japan," released March 23.
Mendes has now earned nine total Hot 100 entries, dating to his first, the No. 24-peaking "Life of the Party," in 2014. His five entries prior to "Blood" have all reached the top 20, including his three career top 10s so far: "Stiches" (No. 4, 2015), "Treat You Better" (No. 6, 2016) and "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back" (No. 6, 2017).

Doesn't help that X is the most cringe rapper around

Living for the hate on FGL, it's so relieving seeing the hate they get after all their success and they keep impressing.
Also I remember Tyler of FGL saying the USA was in a sad state after Trump was elected, to the previous comment.

Has a No. 1 on Digital Songs ever been that low on the Hot 100 since the launch of that chart?

Hopefully there will be more turnover in the top 5 with Perfect slowly dropping in points with Finesse to follow surely.

I think he means its Hot 100 chart position (last week's Digital Song Sales #1 was God's Plan), which I'm also wondering

It is probably this one.
Before 2013 #1 was always based on sales/airplay combos (in some cases airplay only) In 2005, the first year of the chart, physical singles had already declined Digital singles didn't significantly tank until this year
If you exclude what I posted then your answer lies in either 2005 before growth took off or 2017-18 after the decline began

You have to go back to the early 1980s to find comedy/novelty records in the top 10 (sans Weird Al) The Fox - Ylvis

People really have to bring up X’s legal issues wherever, lol... IKR. I've been reading these articles off and on for a good six years now. Maybe they've done something like that in the past but none really come to mind right now. It seemed like a weird inclusion to me.

XXX is pro-gun and supports "All Lives Matter". I like him. He gets given a hard time because he's black imo. With him and Florida Georgie Line in the top 10, that's probably 3 Trump supporters in the top 10 at the same time. Must be a record haha. Source?

Real disappointed at only 7 XXXTentacion songs debuting.
Didn't he have way higher combined streams than Logic?
Maybe that was mostly focused on "Sad!"
Oh well :(

^A couple of factor going for ? songs was it had 18 tracks, just over 37 minutes long total, while Everybody had 13 tracks, over 70 minutes long total, including a 12 minute song. Regarding total streams for the Billboard 200 reported during the debut weeks you're looking at 159.4 vs 70.2 million. Last week, Logic had 5 songs chart in Streaming Songs. Let see how many XXXTentacion has this week.

Type into Google: xxxtentacion gun xxxtentacion "All Lives Matter" (I'm honestly not trying to be snarky, just I'm too lazy to find a good link, but it's pretty easy to find that he believes "All Lives Matter", and the fact that he has a gun is pretty obvious if you listen to his music, but I did a Google search for both just now and it all comes up). He's the black Richard Spencer!

So it's really surprising to me to see XXX earn less than him on the charts.

^^ Obviously, ? had much higher streams than Everybody. And the latter's tracks had better sales on average than the former ones, which probably is the factor that tilted the number of Hot 100 debuts in its favor.

what are he odds that meant to be hits number 1? Depends on how quickly "God's Plan" continues to fall and how soon "Meant to Be" peaks in points. And whether some other song manages to overtake MTB and gets to #1 first.

It's less of a "double standard" and more that people who defend X's actions aren't the same people who support the #MeToo movement. And I think the majority of people (such as myself), just don't let the artist's actions effect our opinions on the music. As others have said, that would bar us from listening to a lot of legendary musicians: John Lennon, Dr. Dre, Jay-Z, Bobby Brown, etc etc.
