So, regarding God's Plan... Its lead on Spotify is shrinking, and as you can see, radio is slowing down too, but it still has a sizable gap going for it. Is it time we start pondering the thought of it breaking the record? I know that with Despacito, Billboard compared the statistics for the 11th week of all the double digit week #1s and that it had the highest proportionate percentage above the #2 (1.73 above), and I would think this is bigger. Maybe it'll get hijacked.

Nothing in the current top 10 is gaining enough, so it can get the record if nothing new explodes out of the gate. It’s only a matter of time until the record is broken anyway. Streaming changes things completely.

The same way, after Soundscan, Boyz II Men broke the 36 year old record for longest running number one and then lost it 4 months later to Whitney Houston.

A country song at #14 is pretty high, isn't it?
For one that was not sent to pop radio...

Yup, and then Boyz I Men tied the record a year later? And then Mariah and BIIM broke it 2 years later. Flood gate.

So in other words, Boyz II Men hit it 3 times Ha they did, but the general point being made is that once Soundscan (and BDS) were introduced, the record quickly fell multiple times. And beyond that, longer runs at #1 were more common in general. And now that streaming has been introduced (and is becoming the dominant metric), that seems to be happening again.

He currently has no real threat in the top 10 or ANY upcoming song so unless something big comes or happens for a song on the charts in the next 7(?) weeks then the record is his but I think 7 weeks is far too long for no new big releases especially in the spring

That Luke Bryan song IS pretty high, but not unheard of over the last 10 years. I've seen a bunch of Country-only radio songs cluster in that # 13 - 17 range, but they definitely hit a glass ceiling. Can't recall any Country-Only song getting to #11 or above, overall.

The Weeknd is not an automatic #1 (Pray for Me had Kendrick and it hasn't even cracked top 5) but I guess with the right song... much like Ariana, it will come down to the material.

I hope something like lwymmd comes up , maybe somebody like ariana or rihanna. I think batier cardi could reach the top 10 because cardi releses her album in april and she wants to make a video for batier cardi. idk but she has a single chance to reach #1(she’s a streaming monster too:D)

Haven't followed the charts in months. How many "points" Meant to Be need to get to #1? Not only I think Drake is overrated but I would love a "country" song at #1 since... We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together? The last real country song that got to #1 that I know was Amazed in early 2000s.

They should move on to another track. Haven't followed the charts in months. How many "points" Meant to Be need to get to #1? The last real country song that got to #1 that I know was Amazed in early 2000s. It would need to double it's current points and even then I'm not sure it would be enough. Still an amazing showing for Florida Georgia Line, and of course, Bebe Rexha.

I mean it was co written & produced by Max Martin & Shellback. Some of the best know Pop producers of that time.

As for potential new #1, could Shawn Mendes' newest do it? It's off to a pretty quick start.

^Regarding Country songs that were #1 in Radio Songs and Country Airplay, I see I Need You Know also achieved both. I think You Belong With Me also did it. About WANEGBT, I wouldn't call it a country song either, but only based on the pop version that most of us are probably familiar with. Apparently a country version was also sent to country radio. And about what could challenge God's Plan, I'd say the next song from Drake himself as a lead artist might be the best bet. I'm also liking Dua Lipa's IDGAF a lot, but it's rising SO slowly, I wish it would hurry up and be a hit already! (probably won't be #1, but who knows. something might happen, and some songs take a long time to bob to the top, like Just Dance and Call Me Maybe).
