Hoping the Weeknd releases Try Me as a single saying it’s the best song on the album. I hope he doesn’t waste it like he did with Party Monster.

Yeah, My Dear Melancholy is too PBR&B and in the vein of his earliest work to make too much of a splash on the Hot 100. The album as a whole is #1 on iTunes, but other than Call Out My Name, the individual tracks aren't very high. I'm not even sure streaming will be very high or even mainstream urban radio; yeah his poppier stuff did well there, but I'm not sure how exactly this particular style will do. Another question I have is will this even count as an album, since it's only 6 tracks? I wonder what the minimum requirements are for an album, because this seems to be cutting it pretty close. If it does count as an album, it also seems it will be harder for him to get Album Equivalent Units, because even though there's six tracks, he will still have to get 10 track sales and 1500 streams for one album unit, no? His songs are pulling monster numbers on Spotify/Apple Music already. As if iTunes matters now (being realistic), or Radio when it comes to discussing tracks not pushed as singles / album tracks charting high. The songs might not continue charting for a long time without good Radio/iTunes support, but he verywell is looking to probably get 3+ Top 40 entries if he continues to do so well on Spotify/Apple Music. Even Xxxtentacion had 3 songs in the top 40 last week and that album hardly broke any records.

The effect could have worked if it wasn't so loud. I had my earphone volume quite low and it was still a bit painful. I could see it working coming from a speaker, especially at a concert, though

Starboy had at least 2 more left on it before it moved on. Rockin in the summer and secrets in the fall.

"Meant To Be" will be the next #1 on radio. Crazy! Will probably be there for a while too, since The Middle is closer to peaking on Pop and doesn't have as many formats behind it.

Looks like I'm the only person on this thread that likes "Call Out My Name". Everyone on Rap Genius acted like this whole thing was the second coming of Jesus. Personally, I didn't find it immediately impressive. But I'm putting it on for the third time right now.

Where do you get the Spotify numbers this early? I assumed (correctly) he was also doing great on Spotify since he had more than half the top 10 on Apple Music. The same Urban albums/songs that do great on AM nine times out of ten do well on Spotify too. Similar demographics.

I was probably recalling how it was close to having two top 10 debuts the same week, before Ed Sheeran did. I guess Drake was closest in a sense because he managed 2 top 10 debuts from More Life, but his third song debuted at #18. So depending on how you value that, either him or J. Cole came closest to have 3 top 10 debuts in the same week. Anyway, Drake it again with God's Plan and Diplomatic Immunity a few weeks ago. Both were from the Scary Hours EP, which for some unexplained reason didn't chart in the Billboard 200 the week those songs debuted in the Hot 100.

Both were from the Scary Hours EP, which for some unexplained reason didn't chart in the Billboard 200 the week those songs debuted in the Hot 100. By Billboard definition, an EP must have at least 4 tracks to be eligible for the Billboard 200. Scary Hours only consists of two songs, so it's really a double A-side single.
