Interested to hear what her new sound is gonna be like. Much of Storyteller bored me, personally, so I´m hoping it´s something different from her other music but also not generic

I feel like, with the lack of solo country females in the top 20 right now, this could potentially become her fastest rising single ever. Plus she has HYPE!
ETA: Gorgeous single cover, can’t wait!

Carrie's letter to fans: The first single is a song I love so much and can't wait to share with you. It’s called "Cry Pretty" and I wrote it with three incredible women: Hillary Lindsey, Liz Rose, and Lori McKenna, who also write under the name Love Junkies. I joined one of their writing sessions last year to see if we could come up with some magic…and we did! The title refers to when emotions take over and you just can't hold them back. It really speaks to a lot of things that have happened in the past year and I hope when you hear it, you can relate those feelings to those times in your life. It's emotional. It's real. And it ROCKS! It comes out TOMORROW at 6am ET, and I'm so excited I'll be performing it live on the ACM Awards this weekend, so I hope you'll all tune in to see it!

I understand that the country forum prefers to stick towards serious discussion as much as possible but discouraging people from expressing their enthusiasm to a new single from one of their favorite artists seems counterproductive as well. I'm not taking a shot at the rule itself, just the need to post it in this thread just because a couple people are excited and didn't go on a full-on rant about it. It's Carrie. I get that people are excited. But it REALLY takes away from the post itself when every other message is "Yay!"..."Queen is back!"..."Soooo pumped!" I'm all about enthusiasm. But I'm also all about meaningful discussion and not cluttering up what is already going to be a VERY full thread. With that in mind, this will be my last post on that subject.

^ Leave the “meaningful discussion” for when the song actually comes out. Like you said, we don’t even know the lyrics, music, or melody yet, so how can we have a meaningful discussion about the track if we don’t know much about it? Let us be able to express our excitement. I’ve waited too long for new Carrie music to be forced to stop expressing my anticipation.

From the artwork, it seems to be even more pop than her previous outputs (and also UMG Nashville's promise of making her a global star). But having The Love Junkies as co-writers and David Garcia as co-producer intrigue me. I wonder how all these will come together.
Nonetheless, I am glad to see Carrie really shaking things up for this album era and new chapter in her already storied career!

Not really excited when I saw David Gracia as a producer of the album though. Remember he is the one that gives Meant To Be...

Can't wait for this! Carrie rarely disappoints me so I have high hopes. Hoping she moves away from the Storyteller sound a bit though. :)

I'm so ready for new music from her that isn't tied to the NFL or whatever. Storyteller had some jams even if it were overall not my favorite album of hers. Hope this is good.
Wait, that cover though. Did she commission it on tumblr? Hire a real graphic designer...

I love the single cover, but it is rather different for her. It looks very much like an Avril Lavigne aesthetic to me, but I love Avril so that's not a knock on it. I really can't wait to hear this because she's always done a great line of toeing the line between country and pop, so it's unfortunate that her success was mostly limited to the country genre, so hopefully that will actually change now with this new era given the "we want to make her a global superstar" soundbite that was thrown out there when she switched labels. So excited!

If this does impact 16 April, that's the same day as Thomas Rhett's next single... I wonder which one will get more adds.

If this does impact 16 April, that's the same day as Thomas Rhett's next single... I wonder which one will get more adds. It won't even be close. Carrie will likely get 130+ adds on Monday, while Thomas will be more likely to be in the 60-80 range. He's a rising star no doubt, and I think "Life Changes" will be another big hit for him, but this is Carrie's first single for a brand new label (after a brief hiatus, no less), while "Life Changes" is the 4th single from Rhett's current album. Kenny Chesney got 130 adds yesterday for his first Warner Bros. single, and I expect Carrie to match or beat that with her first single for UMG/Capitol.
