I read 27 straight singles for Carrie have made top 10. Congrats to her, that is pretty impressive. Not just top 10. Top 3! (Should be a top 2 streak, but "Something In The Water" ran into bad timing and got stuck at #3). To be coming up on 12-13 years in the business and have only missed the top 2 barely one time, shows you just how impressive her career truly is. Wow! I didn't even realize. You are so right, that is beyond impressive. The fact that it feels like country radio doesn't play a ton of female artists these days makes it that much more crazy awesome!! Again Congrats Carrie!!

Bad timing, irresponsible handling by her team, tomato, tomahto. (Absolutely, her career has been, continues to be, and will always be absurdly incredible.)

SITW peaked at #1 on Mediabase so take advantage of loopholes where you can guys ;) Actually it didn't. It peaked at #2. It got blocked by Eric Church "Talladega" in early 2015. It does still keep the Top 2 streak intact Mediabase wise.

Carrie's singles are very hit or miss w/ me. This one doesn't do much for me, similar to Smoke Break, it's just kind of "eh". I really did enjoy DL and SITW.

SITW was never a radio airplay #1, but it was #1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs for many weeks... with all the formula changes across all charts, I’ll take a #1 on any chart!

Something In The Water was a #3 airplay hit, #1 h.c.s. hit for seven weeks, and a #2 MediaBase hit.

Something In The Water was a #3 airplay hit, #1 h.c.s. hit for seven weeks, and a #2 MediaBase hit. Plus it ended the year as the #1 Christian/Gospel song on Billboard's year end chart for that genre.

Impressive that it managed to re-enter the Hot 100 with all those Drake tracks debuting.

I wonder if Jason and Miranda will get to the top before Carrie....if so, I don't think this will hit #1. They are a few million AIs under her though, and she seems to be gaining more now that she reached the top 10.

Ah okay, I do remember that now. popradiotop20.com uses just spin counts for its country charts like the other genres, and it says it peaked at #1 that way.

Have we any word on single #2? The album is dropping in September, right? So I'm expecting another single to be dropped in early August or something

Am I the only one who feels like this song was off to a great marvelous start. But then the sales start to drip as airplay rises and then as such the gains slow.
Looking at Kworb today the latest singles from Cole Swindell, Mitchell Tenpenny, Sam Hunt, Chris Janson, Old Dominion, Sugarland, and Luke Bryan, are all outselling "Cry Pretty" pretty badly and the only songs in the Top 10 Carrie Underwood is beating out sales wise is Chris Lane/Tori Kelly.
Out of all these big A-list lead singles (Carrie Underwood, Sam Hunt, Kenny Chesney, Florida Georgia Line) it feels like Carrie Underwood's is the one with the least impact, maybe Sam Hunt but even then it's close.
I do think this will get a Top 10 to Top 5 finish but I don't know if this will keep the Top 3 streak intact. Especially given the current layout of the CCUSA co-host schedule.
This weekend it's Jake Owen, followed by 2 weeks of Kenny Chesney and then Carrie Underwood after that, so approximately 4 to 6 weeks left of this song I would say?
In that amount of time I do think "Cry Pretty" can get Top 5. But I won't be shocked if this ended up being her lowest peaking song on radio.

Just discount this song on itunes for a month should help its itunes position. The songs in front of this song don't have that great callout either (except Jake Owen's) so really I don't see low peaks for this song. Streaming figures for this song aren't the best as discussed before, but that's a problem for most country females.
I am interested in the tracklist and songwriting credits of the album as well! Please reveal as soon as possible.

I need Carrie and her team to step up their promo game, there’s no reason this should be selling poorly or falling out of the top 10 before it peaks

Why is radio having so much trouble converting this... :’( This is just me spitballing here, but maybe radio doesn't view this as a radio friendly song. I mean in country radio eyes this song sounds so out of place sonically and the song is also really long as well which is never good regardless of artist. This song clocks in at over 4 minutes which is pretty long for a radio song. I also think the middling sales aren't helping it's case.

raylatch98 I do see your point, but the callouts for this appear to be strong (on the national level at least). I guess it’s possible that the local callouts are poor on a many of the reporting stations though... Although I’m pretty worried that this song might kill her top 3 streak, I’m still glad this was released as the first single. It was a great way to reintroduce her after the long break, and introspective songs as singles are pretty rare for her. I feel like another live performance and a discount on iTunes could help this though. If this doesn’t start to make major movement again, maybe it will be in her best interest to release the second single before the album release (and hopefully it will be a surefire smash).

I do agree with the iTunes discount. But where is their going to be another high profile live performance? I don't think their is anything award show wise? Maybe CMA Fest? Testing is ok I guess. But "Cry Pretty" has the third highest negative rate on Mediabase which is not a good thing and mever bodes well.

I feel like they will push this into the top 5 and then release the second single.
As others have said, the song isn't radio/stream friendly. It is a fantastic live vocal, but Carrie cannot sing this on national TV each week. Even if it doesn't go top 5, her streak was going to end eventually. I would much rather it end with a fantastic song that goes against the "radio grain" than with a surefire smash that misses the top 5 or whatever because Carrie is "over" as a radio hitmaker. This performance clearly is the former.

Thanks - forgot that site existed. Oh, I miss the full Mediabase that used to be on here. I am wondering if Carrie released this too early and it could cause issues when the album is released in September.

I think they probably should have done a radio edit on this one, as much as I love the outro, I feel it might make the song feel too long for most listeners. I also think that unless the plan was to release 2 singles before the album (why??) they should have planned for a closer single - album release, and they should be releasing more details about it by now, like tracklist, promotional singles, more media exposure, etc to help with the sales and general interest.
