And "I Gotta Feeling" seems sooooo much bigger than its predecessor ever was, it is still in people's memories, was considered one of the most iconic songs of the decade by VH1 (think it ranked nicely too). I'm not even big on "I Gotta Feeling", btw, was never a favorite of mine, but it definitely fits the #1 bill. Feels like as soon as it came out it was just this big deal, that's why it was an instant classic. It's gonna keep being boomed on parties for years to come. 

"Where Is the Love", btw, is the kind of song that you look back on and think "How wasn't THAT #1?". It's not up there like "Thriller", "Imagine" or "Don't Stop Believin'", but it definitely woulda been a logical #1.

If I recall correctly, "Where Is the Love?" was #1 on Pop Songs/Mainstream Top 40 for quite some time, but artists like 50 Cent were dominating in sales, and I believe more rhythmic songs in general were the hot thing at the time, which is why more pop-leaning songs like "Where Is the Love?" did not have a shot at the top on the Billboard Hot 100. Maybe in 2009 or 2010, "Where Is the Love?" would have done much better on the charts, especially with the momentum that the BEP had during that time.

Well, "Where Is The Love" is the #1 song of 2003 in the UK and pretty high in other country's year end charts (except for France).

Boom Boom Pow is incredible, and wipes the floor with most of the major hits of the past few years.

That said, it was a track that only truly came alive in a club setting. There's very few tracks that were also big pop hits that I've seen kill as hard as it did on the floor when it dropped.

People can trash the BEP all they want, and yeah their tracks have definitely aged, but they were one of the most daring and impactful Pop-orientated acts of their time.

It actually wasn't sales, because physical sales were minimal at that time and digital sales weren't yet part of the Hot 100. Rhythmic songs were more popular then, but also urban, which is why rappers like 50 Cent and R&B artists dominated the top. I would have actually thought WITL and a lot of the BEP's earlier songs would have received heavy rhythmic play, but apparently not so much; that only happened with their songs from The E.N.D. and after, and of course they didn't receive any urban play. The rhythmic and urban airplay charts have always correlated fairly closely with each other, but I guess even more so around the time of WITL, kind of how it's becoming now.

Boom Boom Pow was annoying, but it wasn't their worst #1 in the Hot 100. I consider that Imma Be easily holds that distinction. It's also among my least liked #1s so far from the 2010s.

If we’re talking worst number one songs ever, Boom Boom Pow is not even close. “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini”, “We Built This City”, “I’m Too Sexy”, “Butterfly”, and “This is Why I’m Hot” are all above Boom Boom Pow. Even Milli Vanilli’s “Blame It On The Rain” can be put in there possibly.

It does bother me that Boom Boom Pow and Imma Be are number one rather than their better songs like Where is the Love.

Lemme just post a disclaimer to say that I don't hate the Black Eyed Peas at all. I like a lot of the stuff they put out from 2000 to 2006 and even a few songs from The E.N.D. + Just Can't Get Enough (but nothing else) from The Beginning.

Also, I forgot Imma Be existed. You've all seen how much I hate Boom Boom Pow. Now take that hatred and multiply it by 10 and you get my hate for Imma Be.

I like I Gotta Feeling despite it's very repetitive lyrics lol Boom Boom Pow worn out fast with me. I gotta say when I got the chance to watch BEP live, those two songs were fun with a responsive crowd

I remember during IGT's 14 week run that there were also anticipation what could dethrone them then it turns out something unexpected like a Jay Sean song would beat it

I think Boom Boom Pow is amazing. I admit I thought it was such a weird song when it came out, but it is amazing when you get used to it. I got tired of I Gotta Feeling about 2 months after it got popular, yet unfortunately it had to be that one song that somehow stayed popular for 2 years (like Shape Of You is doing now lol).



I love Imma Be as well, and all the other singles from The E.N.D (except I Gotta Feeling). I like a lot of the album tracks as well like Missing You, Alive and Out Of My Head. I think they could've gotten a few more hit singles from that album if they wanted to. The album after that wasn't as good, although even that had some good songs (I like all three of the singles and Like Up The Night, XOXO and Someday).

I'm surprised nobody has been on a rant about My Humps yet haha.

Also, people need to remember if it wasn't for Boom Boom Pow we probably would have never gotten such masterpieces as Like A G6.
