Does anyone know Need You Now's spin total? Seeing MTB at 44k (above Uptown Funk and Shape of You) Curious to know how much that crossover hit had. I don't know what Need You Now's spin total was, but I think it's a lot less, because I don't think it peaked on pop, HAC and country at the same time like Meant To Be has done. I have to say, the management team for Meant To Be have done a brilliant job with radio. If the song had got staggered airplay on each format, then it probably never would have got to #2 on the Hot 100, instead it probably would have had a chart run like Congratulations, Body Like A Back Road, Say You Won't Let Go, Needed Me, XO Tour Life, etc, where they peak lower but chart for ages. But I think I'd prefer a song to get to #2 and have a shorter chart run tbh.

Only a few months later, that record would be broken by an even younger artist; this time a male one, but Little Peggy March would continue to hold the record for the youngest female artist to have a #1 hit for many years to come.

Radio’s top 5 is a joke
Finesse is the only useful song on the top 5

And also regarding recurreny rules I wanna bring this up: I think there's good reasoning for and against recurrency rules, but I always thought it was hypocritical/ironic that the Billboard 200 allows albums from ANY period to chart anywhere for anytime, yet the thought of that on the Hot 100 is insane to Billboard. Album charts for 1000 weeks on Billboard 200: Billboard make articles praising the huge achievement. Song charts for 52+ weeks on Hot 100: they make stricter recurrent rules to get rid of it. The album is a dying format. Removing old albums from the Billboard 200 would mean that the #200 (current) album would chart solely on 10 copies sold and 60 streams, or something sad like that. The singles chart is way more active and competitive now. Labels want the bragging rights that come from top 40, top 20, top 10 and #1 hits, so they need the old songs to leave to make room for newer hits. Say the new Bebe Rexha single peaks at #41 because "Shape of You" is still taking a top 40 spot, the label would probably complain to Billboard or something.

albums are on the downturn but not dying. Nothing ever really dies. Vinyl in fact, is showing growth

It's interesting, in Billboard's "This Week in Chart History" article, they mistakenly mention this song as "To Know Him is To Love Him," which was actually #1 five years earlier (not even on the same date) with Phil Spector's group, the Teddy Bears. Not quite sure how they made this mistake, as this song doesn't seem to be affiliated with Peggy March at all lol. About Need You Now vs. Meant to Be, etc., comparing the spin counts of country songs with others is misleading, because there are many more country stations in America than other formats, so their spin counts tend to be much higher but their audience levels much lower, probably because most of the stations are located in areas that aren't as heavily populated.

Oh, and considering this tweet doesn't say Facebook, it seems like they're livestreaming it in Periscope like last week.

From how much Billboard promotes BTS, you’d think they’d be all over the charts.

They're always flooding the comments on the top 10 announcement videos, always delusional, thinking BTS might be top 10 or #1. It's kinda funny. But yh, Billboard must cater to an audience, and BTS have lots of stans.

Where a weaker song comes out of no where to get a 10 spot then starts slowly declining after. Malibu did that to SYWLG and Chun Li is probably going to do that with Mine.

Lmao wasn't Chun-Li not even predicted top 15?
Reminds me of when Nicki's Rake It Up collab last year beat everyone's expectations and jumped into the lower top 10. Those TIDAL streams coming through
