Unfortunately for My Immortal, alternative stations aren't really clamoring over it. It's in the top 50 but its bullet isn't very strong.
As for the pop chart, My Immortal is rising with a triple digit bullet.
The most successful market though is Hot AC. On Radio and Records, the song is at #26 on the Hot AC chart.
I hope whatever their next single is, that it's accepted in alternative stations. I feel that there will be a fourth single especially if My Immortal can make it in Pop and Alternative stations.

They should have done a double release thing. Realese "My Immortal" to Pop and Hot AC and "Tourniquet" to alternative and the other rock formats.

I don't like the double releases because whichever song ends up more popular always overshadows the other song, no matter what format. Anyone remember "Young And The Hopeless"?

I agree and as much as I like Tourniquet, with the whole Christian controversy, it wouldn't be a great idea to release that as a single.

What about "The Way You Move" and "Hey Ya"? I mean, certainly one is known mor ethan the other, but neither has completely overshadowed the other one.

Both are played on the same high-audience formats. A hit on CHR-Pop ("Girls And Boys") will do better than a hit on Alternative ("The Young And The Hopeless") on the Billboard Hot 100. I'm not saying that's good or bad.

OutKast I think is an exception because of the way they released their album.
Other than that, I can't think of very many instances where it was profitable to release two different singles simultaneously.

I heard it two times on the radio in Sacramento today. It's okay, but it hasn't really caught on yet.

Rollin' and My Generation by Limp Bizkit (CSATHDFW, didn't feel like typing it out LOL)
The album itself was successful but Rollin was definitely the better single.

Limp Bizkit overkill, there. After that, you get "Boiler", and "Can't buy a hit anymore".

It's rising again on Alternative. The pace was almost at a complete stop and it's started rising again. I don't know if it's gonna explode on Alternative, but it very well could rise as steadily as it is now.

I dont like this song. I prefered the two prior singles plus it really will kill any credibility on alternative and really make them have to turn toward pop for the next cd. Why oh why do these groups continue to do this so they never will taste alternative again. I cant imagine alternative radio embracing this at all. If this kind of crap clutters up alternative while great female driven stuff like "Crawl Home" from the Desert Sessions with PJ Harvey on vocals is ignored well that doesnt say much for the state of alternative format. Let it go to AC and let the parents fall asleep to it.

I didn't really see it succeeding in Alternative because Alternative wasn't the main focus of the single. According to the Billboard review, it was pop. However, this is the only ballad on the album that I would ever see as a single.
I doubt that they will become more pop for their next album. I have a feeling that Whisper (probably the heaviest song on the album other than Going Under and Haunted) will be the final single to this album.

...because Alternative wasn't the main focus of the single. According to the Billboard review, it was pop. Matt already complained about that, but I think that the genre came from Billboard, not Evanescence.

Think about it- how many artists REALLY have success beyond 1.5 albums? Not very many! Their is simply high turnover in the music industry. So the key should be to release the BEST material, which clearly was "my immortal." They have enough harder options for a 4th single, thus leaving listeners with a harder last impression from this album.

"MI" loses its bullet this week. :( Not altogether surprising, though.

Do you think they'd rush another song on alternative to keep them on or should they just wait until My Immortal runs its course?

They seem to be picking up steam on Pop, so I think they'll still focus on "MI" there. And unless it makes the top 10 or something, I think they'll put the album to rest and start work on the next one with their new guitarist.
