Ariana Grande 'No Tears Left To Cry'


“No Tears Left to Cry” debuts at No. 5, besting the No. 8 start of “Focus.”

Ariana Grande scores her best debut ever on Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart, as “No Tears Left to Cry” bows at No. 5 on the May 5-dated tally.

“Cry,” the first taste of new music from Grande since her 2016 album Dangerous Woman, starts at No. 5 with 36.9 million streams earned in the week ending April 26, according to Nielsen Music.
That amount gives the singer her highest-ever debut on the ranking, eclipsing the No. 8 start of “Focus” (Nov. 21, 2015). However, it still has a few positions to go before it becomes her highest-charting track -- that distinction currently goes to “Problem,” featuring Iggy Azalea, which peaked at No. 2 (May 31, 2014) after its initial debut at No. 9.

The 36.9-million start is also Grande’s best streaming week for an individual song, besting “Side to Side,” featuring Nicki Minaj, which earned 19.2 million streams at its height, on the chart dated Dec. 10, 2016.

Additionally, "Cry" bows at No. 10 on the On-Demand Streaming Songs ranking, which includes audio streams from on-demand services only (22.8 million).
“Cry” concurrently launches at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, tying her top debut (“Problem,” May 17, 2014), and starts at No. 1 on Digital Song Sales (100,000 downloads).

If it can survive next week's Post Malone album bomb and Drake doesn't release his new album before it gets there, it might have a chance.

Does that really do much in 2018? Most of her audience (rap) already know the songs have been released. They just dont care enough about it to go back for multiple listens

Finesse seemed to fall particularly hard. Even minus the J. Cole songs, it still would've fallen 12-19. At the rate it's going, and especially with Post's bomb next week, it might not last much more than 20 weeks and might not even make the year-end top ten.

Also, I wonder why several BTS songs are charting on the Japan Hot 100 chart and not the K-Pop chart, given that they are a K-Pop band lol

Hot 100 Chart Moves: Imagine Dragons Is First Act With Four Songs to Chart for at Least a Year Each

At 52 weeks, "Thunder" follows "Believer," "Demons" & "Radioactive."

As previously reported, Drake's "Nice for What" crowns the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a third week, encompassing its entire run on the ranking, dating to its No. 1 debut.

Meanwhile, four songs debut in the Hot 100's top 10, marking a first in the chart's 59-year history. Ariana Grande's "No Tears Left to Cry" launches at No. 3 and J. Cole starts at Nos. 6, 8 and 10 with "ATM," "Kevin's Heart" and "KOD," respectively, as parent album KOD bows as his fifth No. 1 on the Billboard 200. On the Hot 100, Cole makes history as the first artist ever to debut three titles in the top 10 in the same week.

Who else makes notable chart moves this week?

"Thunder," Imagine Dragons
Correct, Kevin! The song, which peaked at No. 4 on the Hot 100 (on Dec. 2), logs its 52nd week on the Hot 100, dropping 34-45. It's the group's unprecedented fourth song to spend at least a year on the chart. The band was already the first act with three such hits, dating to the list's Aug. 4, 1958, inception.

(Notably, songs have averaged significantly longer average chart runs since the Hot 100 adopted Nielsen data in 1991. "Thunder" is just the 60th title in the Hot 100's history to chart for at least a year, and the first since "Believer"; that's out of over 27,000 total entries.)


Here is a recap of Imagine Dragons' four Hot 100 hits to reach the longevity milestone:

87 weeks (the most of any title), "Radioactive" (No. 3 peak; on Hot 100 in 2012-14)
61 weeks, "Demons" (No. 6; 2013-14)

Imagine Dragons has earned the feat thanks, in part, to songs starting at rock radio and then crossing to pop formats. When "Believer" logged its 52nd week on the Hot 100, the band passed six acts with two songs apiece that have charted for at least 52 weeks: The Chainsmokers, Faith Hill, Lifehouse, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran and Train.

"Dame Tu Cosita," El Chombo
The Panamanian producer (real name: Sebastian Clark) arrives with his viral hit, which enters the Hot 100 at No. 81. On Hot Latin Songs, it reaches the top five (6-5). The meme-assisted song bounds by 26 percent to 10.4 U.S. million streams, according to Nielsen Music.

"Everything's Gonna Be Alright," David Lee Murphy & Kenny Chesney
The collaboration debuts at No. 95 on the Hot 100. It also becomes Murphy's sixth Country Airplay top 10 (12-10) and first since his No. 5 hit "Loco" in 2004. Chesney adds his 54th Country Airplay top 10, a sum that includes at least one every year since 1995.

The writing style always cracks me up. They acknowledge that Soundscan was the cause of the longer chart runs beginning in 1991 but then quote 60 out of 27,000 songs to reach a year since 1958.

BTW - the record prior to 1991 was just 43 weeks.

May will be a cool down month, but June oh my god. a Drake album, 2 Kanye albums, a Nas abum (hopefully this does something) with the possibility of Rocky and Travis's albums releasing increasing with each month they hold it off.
