I gotta say this, and I know it'll make no sense - probably to anyone - but on my phone I have all #1 songs and all #2 songs since 1955, divided into decades, as well as all top 10 hits from 2018. I will often put on the playlists and not skip the songs, as I study, assemble puzzles, work out at the gym, whatever, so yeah, I don't skip the songs I don't like, and obviously I can't like them all (especially not the 2018 ones, lol). But it is what it is, my own weird quirk, so I can totally understand people listening to songs without actually wanting to, simply not bothering to skip them.

For my daughter, I have a playlist of every charting song since she was born. I listen to it on alphabetical when she is around because I don't trust the shuffle function. I think it's important to expose her to a variety of music so she can choose what she likes best when she is older. I feel like I personally missed out on a lot of popular culture as a kid, and I wouldn't wish that on others. I don't love all of those songs, but I don't skip them. Ultimately, the songs count because we chose to listen to them. Or more importantly, because we did listen to them.

But it seems like the only thing that would do is ignore a huge portion of the listening public. All because they clicked one button instead of the other. They're listening to the exact same set of songs, just pushing a different button. And all for what? So that song B can be counted ahead of song A on the Hot 100, even though song A is more popular?] Exactly. Because they’re listening to an album, so it should count towards the chart for albums, the Billboard 200. If you buy an album on iTunes, each purchase doesn’t count towards each song on the Hot 100, it counts as an album overall. That is the problem I am trying to fix. Listening to full albums on Spotify which then boost each song in ways that don’t happen when buying it, and in my opinion, shouldn’t. As for the rest of your comment, I have an exam in the morning so I need to go to sleep. I will try to read and reply to it tomorrow (if a reply is still neccesary then) This is a very good point that I and others have brought up before. It goes by the same logic, that if you support track streams from albums counting towards the Hot 100, tracks from purchased albums (whether digital or physical) should count towards the Hot 100 as well, and those who refute this are clearly using a double standard. Also, for those of you who think so highly of artists like Camila, if it wasn't for J. Cole's bomb this week she would place in the top ten, and will likely miss it altogether with Post next week, so are you all ok with that?

Agreed. And when people get used to album takeovers being more extreme and common, while sales decrease, it will probably end up looking like a more reasonable suggestion. The reason people don't generally support that idea is that they understand the tremendous change that that would have on the charts. Rather than the slow change that ever-increasing album takeovers have on the charts. What makes this so tremendous is that sales are artificially front loaded while album cuts are organically front loaded. Ever since the iTunes era began, it's been conventional wisdom that songs from sales-heavy artists with strong core fanbases, like Lil Wayne, Eminem, One Direction, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, etc tend to debut high and then disappear or dive the next week, if they aren't supported by radio. And that's largely held true with artists like J. Cole and Drake in the streaming era. But the thing is, if 100,000 fans buy a track like "Jump Then Fall" the week it comes out. And then the next week only 5,000 late comers buy the track. That's the equivalent of about 10,000,000 plays on the first week. And then only 500,000 the next week. But does that mean that each person who bought it actually listened to it 100 times the first week, and then never again the next week? Ofc not. But with streams, we know exactly who's listening to what and when. So I think that could be an argument for differentiating the two. streams from albums
It's also worth noting that potentially every stream on Spotify is "from an album". I think it would be hard to define what that means exactly without discounting a huge chunk of Spotify streams that you probably don't associate with the phrase "from an album". Also, for those of you who think so highly of artists like Camila, if it wasn't for J. Cole's bomb this week she would place in the top ten, and will likely miss it altogether with Post next week, so are you all ok with that?
Aren't you sort of appealing to a double standard by begging that question. I hope most of us here support chart decisions based on the accuracy of the charts. Not based on whether or not the artists we like would benefit.

Radio is dropping Finesse so quickly which is odd to me seeing as how huge Cardi is right now and how it is the last single off 24K magic. Oh well the song aged like milk to me anyways.

^ By this week I meant the actual chart dated for this week, May 5th, and by next week I meant the chart dated May 12 (which I think is the one you are referring to where she is predicted to be #5 or #6). And about that, ok, I"ll admit I didn't fully flesh through the numbers and sort of forgot she put out the Kane Brown remix. However, that is still for next week, which is a prediction, not fact yet, it could be much lower (or higher) than that. It is fact that this week NBTS is #13, and if J. Cole's tracks in the top ten weren't charting, it would be #10.
And Sherane, I think you misunderstood my comment about this. It's not that I was "appealing to a double standard," it's that I was asking rhetorically for the many on this thread who are big fans of pop acts like Camila yet also support album bombs and all streamed tracks being allowed to chart with no restrictions (which are of course largely hip-hop driven, which by and large is not a well-loved genre on this board), that ironically, songs such as hers would be prevented from charting higher or charting altogether, or would be removed prematurely.

Looks like Camila will be the 3rd female who started this decade, to be the first credited artist on multiple sales #1s.
Meghan did it with No. Ariana just did it with No Tears. Never Be the Same should be topping sales.

Kworb sales predictions: 1. 52k - Never Be The Same 2. 33k - Meant To Be 3-6. 28k - Whatever It Takes 3-6. 28k - Nice For What 3-6. 28k - Psycho 3-6. 28k - First Burn 7-9. 25k - No Tears Left to Cry 7-9. 25k - God's plan 7-9. 25k - Ball For Me 10. 24k - Night Moves Only two songs above 30k The entire top 10 collectively selling less than an average #1 from 2013 Is that both versions of Never Be the Same? Yikes! Sales are getting more and more pitiful as the weeks go by, it's sad to see.

Yeah, with the Never Be the Same remix appearing this week, Never Be the Same would have set the new low for weekly digital sales. That said, it is just a matter of time before it is set again.

Rae sremmurd album with 27 songs dropping midnight. Another album bomb or are there just so many songs that the streams will be spread too thin? Wonder what their tier of streaming power is.
First tier - Drake Kendrick Jcole post Second tier - cardi, weeknd, migos Third tier - uzi vert, xxxtentacles, future, logic

27 songs? Wow. Billboard, please step up and fix what you've done, this is just getting ridiculous. No one wants an album of 27 songs. They can't all possibly sound different enough for them not to just blend together at that point.
I don't think Rae will be that much of a threat, though. Probably decent first day numbers, but it's not even going to be close to Cardi, Migos, XXX, J. Cole, and Post.

No. This is getting ridiculous tho, we just dealt with J. Cole last week and we have Post incoming this week, then the week after we have to deal with Rae Sremmurd. Then we have like a 2 week break of album bombs until Kanye enters in June, then Drake later in that month. Something needs to be done about this.

This is how the industry is right now and the Hot 100 absolutely needs to reflect that. I was referring to the album chart where length is not accounted for in total streams. 27 tracks is clearly an attempt to up the album sales total. That's what is ridiculous, not the album bombs. Hell, if Billboard started to account for length, then these albums would only be 10-14 tracks long and the bombs wouldn't be as crazy.

Why does album bomb mean? Is this made up? It's a term many have used here to represent the time when an album releases and several, if not all, of its tracks hit the Hot 100 the following week.
