A thought: the streaming album bomb with tons of songs from one artist on the chart dynamic is interesting and I’m not against it per say. But it seems unbalanced Taylor Swift’s reputation sold 1.2 million in a week, surely the songs off those album sales had major listen counts, however they weren’t counted and therefore are represented on the chart. Idk how I feel about that. Gives one demographic of music a major advantage for basically accomplishing the same thing There is no way to know how many times each track on the album was listened. That's my issue with sales. I would say count album sales as a sale for the track, but that could lead to issues. But I could passively stream. I can stream without even listening. I can play it for hours on mute, couldn't I?

Post Malone Dominates Australia's Charts
News
By Lars Brandle | May 08, 2018 5:31 AM EDT Post Malone Dominates Australia's ChartsPost Malone rules the charts this week in Australia, where beerbongs & bentleys (Republic/Universal) debuts at No. 1 on the albums survey and 17 tracks from it impact the singles tally, including the current chart-leader “Psycho.” Malone’s torrent of tracks in the ARIA Singles Chart Top 50 matches Michael Jackson’s posthumous record set in July 2009, with 13 of those debuting on the new survey, a feat matching Ed Sheeran’s record established in March 2017. With “Psycho,” the U.S. singer and rapper secures his second No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart after “Rockstar” first hit the top in November 2017. “Rockstar” is at No. 12 this week, behind Malone's “Psycho,” “Better Now” (the week’s highest debut at No. 4) and “Paranoid” (new at No. 10). On the ARIA Albums Chart, beerbongs holds off homegrown country star Keith Urban’s 10th studio set Graffiti U (Capitol/EMI), which starts at No. 2. Graffiti U is Urban’s seventh top 10 entry on the national albums chart. A raft of Aussie artists appear in the upper tier of this week’s album chart, including singer and songwriter Missy Higgins, whose Solastalgia (Eleven/EMI) bows at No. 3; alt-country artist Kasey Chambers & The Fireside Disciples's Campfire (Warner) starts at No. 6; and Sydney alternative rock trio DMA's second set For Now (IOU/Warner) begins at No. 7. Keith urban on Aria charts? So australia listens to us country music? Keith is Australian (and New Zealander) so his albums always do well here, apart from that we don't listen to much country music and BLABR & MTB are the only 'country' songs I can remember getting much airplay here

But I could passively stream. I can stream without even listening. I can play it for hours on mute, couldn't I? Maybe "listen" is not the correct word because it's impossible to know if you're listening or if you're sleeping, for example. However you would still know how many times each track was played. The issue you said about counting each album sale as a sale for the track would be this: Reputation - 1.2M sales for each track = 250M on-demand streams*. *Hot 100 formula: 1 sale = 208 on-demand streams.

Ella Mai Crowns Emerging Artists Chart, as 'Boo'd Up' Hits Hot 100's Top 40
News
By Xander Zellner | May 09, 2018 10:44 AM EDT
Plus, chart action for country newcomers Mason Ramsey and Morgan Wallen.
Ella Mai is the top emerging act in the U.S. for the first time, as the British singer-songwriter rises from No. 5 to No. 1 on Billboard's Emerging Artists chart (dated May 12).
Mai, 23, tops the tally on the strength of her EP Ready, which debuts at No. 12 on the Top R&B Albums chart, No. 43 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and No. 87 on the Billboard 200 with 7,000 equivalent album units (up 52 percent) in the week ending May 3, according to Nielsen Music.
Mai released Ready in February 2017, but the set has grown thanks to its breakout track "Boo'd Up." Her first song to appear on any Billboard chart vaults from No. 55 to No. 37 on the Hot 100, while rising 34-24 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. The single drew 27.8 million radio audience impressions (up 17 percent) and 15.6 million U.S. streams (up 42 percent) and sold 9,000 downloads (up 51 percent) in the tracking week.
The Emerging Artists chart ranks the most popular developing artists of the week, using the same formula as the all-encompassing Billboard Artist 100, which measures artist activity across multiple Billboard charts, including the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard 200 and the Social 50. (The Artist 100 lists the most popular acts, overall, of the week.) However, the Emerging Artists chart excludes acts that have notched a top 25 entry on either the Hot 100 or Billboard 200, as well as artists that have achieved two or more top 10s on Billboard's "Hot" song genre charts and/or consumption-based "Top" album genre rankings.
Directly below Mai, 11-year-old Mason Ramsey, dubbed "Yodel Boy" online, launches at No. 2 on Emerging Artists, as his debut track "Famous" arrives at No. 4 on Hot Country Songs and No. 62 on the Hot 100 with 10.8 million U.S. streams and 19,000 sold. Ramsey's profile has skyrocketed after a clip of him yodeling in a Walmart went viral.
Bad Wolves dip 2-3 on Emerging Artists and Jordan Davis falls 3-4, while Morgan Wallen ascends 9-5, reaching the top five for the first time as his breakout single "Up Down," featuring Florida Georgia Line, hits the top 10 on Hot Country Songs.
Plus, El Chombo surges 27-9 on Emerging Artists as his viral hit "Dame Tu Cosita" ascends to No. 1 on the Hot Latin Songs chart.

Post Malone ties Michael Jackson for most entries on the Australian top 50 with 17. (MJ set the record in July 2009 after his death) What? How old is the Australian chart, since the record is 17 entries? The ARIA chart began in 1988; although I'm not sure how the age of the chart is relevant when Michael Jackson's record was set in 2009 following his death, well after the ARIA chart was established. Gary's post even mentioned when the record was set.

I can understand Taylor and Carrie since they are more pop-country and very radio friendly (at this point I forget taylor was ever considered a country singer) and then Garth is the most successful country artist ever so that makes sense

"Gucci Flip Flops" video is actually way more woke. It's commentary on how the arts and media has helped to liberate us from a more conservative and patriarchal society. Bhad Bhabie is really the voice that America needs. But not the voice that we're willing to accept right now. "This is America" however, is fake deep. The pretentious title and imagery gives the masses the sense that there must be something profound about it. But since there is so little actual message or substance in the video, the masses are able to project their own feelings and beliefs on to the video through "interpretation". Rather than actually learning something concrete from it. That's why low effort videos like "This is America" can generate so much buzz while high art like "Gucci Flip Flops" goes unnoticed. WTF is this comment 😂
