Yes we should. As a lifelong diehard Mariah Carey fan, I don't want to think about the fact her record has finally been matched. OK - let's try this - in addition to Despacito by Bieber & company. We should not forget that "One Sweet Day" was NOT a Mariah solo record. She had help. I know, I know. I should just call it One Sweet Day's record, because seniority rules. Back to the head banging.

If your favorite song goes recurrent and no longer charts here, you have personal charts for that I suppose

Putting rules to change how many songs can be on the chart brings a load of issues. The charts are supposed to reflect the biggest songs of a particular week and it should be surprising to nobody that songs off a gigantic album will be some of the biggest songs of the week. If we began limiting artists for how many songs they could have on the chart, imagine how stale and limited the hot 100 would become and what you would do by implementing such a rule. This rule would have to include features, and could potentially hurt songs that have a featured artist who's really big.
Along with this, I think recurrent rules are stupid too. The chart should log the biggest songs of each week, and removing certain songs for their longevity is just stupid. If a song like Uptown Funk would chart for years, so be it. If a song would've charted higher without recurrent rules, well that sucks, maybe they should promote their song more to be bigger than the song released last year rhat still gets constant radio play and decent streams.
I really hope we don't lose album bombs, they may be annoying as hell but at least it's a representation of the popularity of songs.

If it were pop artists launching 20 songs out a time, I think there would not be so much of an uproar
It just so happens the most popular genre at the moment is not the most popular genre on this site.

I just watched the video. s**t was hilarious as f**k. Who wants to see some old fat guy dancing around with no shirt on shooting at people? SMH People who understand what is actually going on in the video. Plus, fat? Childish Gambino is far from fat (or old)

Hot 100 Chart Moves: Kanye West's 'Ye vs. The People' Debuts
News
By Xander Zellner and Gary Trust | May 08, 2018 1:01 PM EDT Kanye West
The track is West's 82nd career visit. Plus, moves for Nicki Minaj & Migos.
Kanye West scores his first Billboard Hot 100 entry as a lead artist since 2016, as "Ye vs. The People," featuring T.I., debuts at No. 85 on the chart dated May 12.
The song arrives with 7.4 million U.S. streams and 12,000 downloads sold in the week ending May 3, according to Nielsen Music, prompting its No. 32 entrance on the Digital Song Sales chart. The track also earned 4.7 million radio audience impressions in the week ending May 6.
"Ye" is West's 82nd Hot 100 entry, the ninth-most in the chart's 59-year history. It's his first since his featured turn on Drake's "Glow," which peaked at No. 54 in April 2017. "Ye" is West's first Hot 100 entry as a lead since "Fade" (No. 47, October 2016).
West first hit the Hot 100 on Nov. 29, 2003, with "Through the Wire," which reached No. 15 on Feb. 14, 2004. A week later (Feb. 21), he landed his first of four No. 1s, as featured, with Jamie Foxx, on Twista's "Slow Jamz."
Here's an updated look at the acts with the most Hot 100 appearances:
207, Glee Cast 162, Drake 137, Lil Wayne 108, Elvis Presley 97, JAY-Z 91, James Brown 90, Chris Brown 88, Nicki Minaj 82, Kanye West 77, Taylor Swift 75, Ray Charles 73, Aretha Franklin 71, The Beatles
Further, "Ye" marks T.I.'s 56th charted Hot 100 title and first since "About the Money," featuring Young Thug, which reached No. 42 in November 2014.
West's other new song, "Lift Yourself," just misses the Hot 100, debuting at No. 5 on the Hot 100's Bubbling Under chart, arriving with 7.2 million U.S. streams and 4,000 sold.
While West has made a busy, and controversial, return to social media, and Billboard's Social 50 chart, he has not yet announced if "Ye" or "Lift" will be on his new album, due June 1.
"Ball for Me," Post Malone feat. Nicki Minaj
As noted above, Minaj is up to 88 Hot 100 visits, extending her record among women, as "Ball for Me" bounces in at No. 16. It bows as her 11th top 10 on the Streaming Songs chart, at No. 10, with 26.7 million U.S. streams.
As previously reported, the track is one of 18 that Post Malone charts on the May 12-dated Hot 100, as well as one of a record nine songs of his in the top 20 simultaneously.
"Walk It Talk It," Migos feat. Drake
The collab holds at No. 18 on the Hot 100 after reaching No. 10 on April 14, becoming Migos' fourth top 10 and Drake's 24th (of 25 to date; a week later, he debuted at No. 1 with "Nice for What," now atop the chart for four weeks running).
In its 14th week on the Hot 100, "Walk" struts onto Radio Songs as the chart's highest debut at No. 35 with 26.5 million in audience, up 44 percent. It also boasts 23.4 million streams and 8,000 downloads sold.

That debut for Kanye might give a sign for Celine’s song. I assume it will sell about the same, and maybe get that many streams from YouTube?

Oh, ok. I see there was a video out for it. What a sad world we live in where people are freaking out over that "This Is America" video and Bhad Bhabie is forced to be in the bubbling under. I just watched the video. s**t was hilarious as f**k. Who wants to see some old fat guy dancing around with no shirt on shooting at people? SMH Old guy? He's 34. Are Madonna and Elton John just living skeletons?

Post Malone ties Michael Jackson for most entries on the Australian top 50 with 17. (MJ set the record in July 2009 after his death) What? How old is the Australian chart, since the record is 17 entries?

With records falling in the states on a weekly basis that had previously stood for 50 years, 17 entries seems to make sense for Australia as a record

Post Malone Dominates Australia's Charts
News
By Lars Brandle | May 08, 2018 5:31 AM EDT Post Malone Dominates Australia's Charts
Post Malone rules the charts this week in Australia, where beerbongs & bentleys (Republic/Universal) debuts at No. 1 on the albums survey and 17 tracks from it impact the singles tally, including the current chart-leader “Psycho.”
Malone’s torrent of tracks in the ARIA Singles Chart Top 50 matches Michael Jackson’s posthumous record set in July 2009, with 13 of those debuting on the new survey, a feat matching Ed Sheeran’s record established in March 2017.
With “Psycho,” the U.S. singer and rapper secures his second No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart after “Rockstar” first hit the top in November 2017. “Rockstar” is at No. 12 this week, behind Malone's “Psycho,” “Better Now” (the week’s highest debut at No. 4) and “Paranoid” (new at No. 10).
On the ARIA Albums Chart, beerbongs holds off homegrown country star Keith Urban’s 10th studio set Graffiti U (Capitol/EMI), which starts at No. 2. Graffiti U is Urban’s seventh top 10 entry on the national albums chart.
A raft of Aussie artists appear in the upper tier of this week’s album chart, including singer and songwriter Missy Higgins, whose Solastalgia (Eleven/EMI) bows at No. 3; alt-country artist Kasey Chambers & The Fireside Disciples's Campfire (Warner) starts at No. 6; and Sydney alternative rock trio DMA's second set For Now (IOU/Warner) begins at No. 7.

Post's songs will probably hold up better than J. Cole or Cardi's, but it will be interesting to see all the major upward moves next week as he falls and the songs he, Cardi, and Cole sent recurrent remain gone. Songs that have been gaining the past 3 weeks but have been held back by all the bombs will likely make some big position gains.

No song should ever have to go recurrent! The song at #51 should be the 51st most popular song in the country! Not the 55th most popular, where 4 songs are left off just because some people got bored of them! Look at the glorious classics all over the Billboard 200. Albums that are listened to for decades after they are release, still getting their rightful due on the charts. The Hot 100 should have that (obviously, wouldn't be as many of them, but still). I hear tale that the UK charts (as evil and crooked as they've become) have classic songs pop up into the lower parts of their charts ever so often. Just because a lot of people listen to them one week. It brings a tear to my eye thinking of the beauty of it. Anti-recurrency forever!

"Gucci Flip Flops" video is actually way more woke. It's commentary on how the arts and media has helped to liberate us from a more conservative and patriarchal society.
Bhad Bhabie is really the voice that America needs. But not the voice that we're willing to accept right now.
"This is America" however, is fake deep. The pretentious title and imagery gives the masses the sense that there must be something profound about it. But since there is so little actual message or substance in the video, the masses are able to project their own feelings and beliefs on to the video through "interpretation". Rather than actually learning something concrete from it.
That's why low effort videos like "This is America" can generate so much buzz while high art like "Gucci Flip Flops" goes unnoticed.

A thought: the streaming album bomb with tons of songs from one artist on the chart dynamic is interesting and I’m not against it per say. But it seems unbalanced
Taylor Swift’s reputation sold 1.2 million in a week, surely the songs off those album sales had major listen counts, however they weren’t counted and therefore are represented on the chart.
Idk how I feel about that. Gives one demographic of music a major advantage for basically accomplishing the same thing

That's my issue with sales.
